Native build was full of graphic glitches even in the initial menu, but proton version ran fine.

the native version is giving graphical problems, the proton version is running normally

No game breaking issues, mostly only some missing text.
Main Menu
Background had a large visual artifact on the right side of the screen, it was a glitchy view of what had previously been displayed like the various settings menu.
New Game Menu
Completely unusuable, none of the various repeated radio buttons that showed up were clickable and there was no text. The blank colored buttons at the bottom of the screen were clickable allowing me to start a new game with default settings.
During Gameplay
Some text was missing, but otherwise gameplay was unaffected and no other visual artifacts were discovered in 3 hours of gameplay.
Conclusion
- NixOS on a GPD Win Max 2 2023 7840U
- Steam installed as the
steam-run
Nix package - Currently running the Steam Families Beta client
I installed and launched the game without even looking at configurations or compatability. The missing text issues may have just been a font package I'm missing and would need to install. Uncertain about the main menu and new game glitches.

Works out of the box
A little stuttering while loading initially

Using Proton rather than the scout fixes all of the graphics issues. Also set the UI scale to max and the UI is fairly readable.
With the steam deck community layout and Proton, the game runs quite well

Runs perfect natively.
No issues whatsoever.

Some important things to note are...
Did not run on: Proton 8.0-3. I could not even get past the loading screen and had to reboot my computer.
It crashed on: 7.0-6 after a litle over an hour of gameplay. This was quite frustrating as I thought I was in the clear so I foolishly did not save. ; - ;
It was making me nervous on: 6.3-8. There was some jitter with the visuals, I thought it best to go back one more at this point.
The sweet spot was Proton 5.13-6. I also decided to lower some stuff in the graphics section, and visually it looked pretty much the same. I would say lower it to this version of Proton for the best results!
Binded L4 as CTRL button, and A button as F key.
Very small text. Even with the zoom in feature and good eyesight, some of it was really hard to make out.
The loading screen lags a bit, but didn't notice that problem anywhere else.
Plays perfectly. You just have to configure the controls in a way that'll work for you.
Sometimes textures don't appear on the Evolution Tower's menu.
