The game runs at 60 fps 99% of the time, however, there are sudden spikes in fps occasionally, at least with the default settings.
There are short fps drops from time to time. Nothing major, but it's something to mention.
The first time I opened the game, I didn't change anything. However, from the second run, the image froze completely after 5 seconds in the game. I could still hear the music, but nothing else was working. I tried turning my wifi off and on, even restarting the steam deck, but it didn't help. After I changed the Proton version to Proton Experimental, I haven't had any issues. The game opened and ran as expected every time. I'll leave the graphics settings that I used for reference:
- Window Mode: Fullscreen
- Resolution: 1280x800
- Quality: Custom
- View Distance: Low
- Shadows: Low
- Anti Aliasing Type: TemporalAA low
- Brightness: 5
- Textures: Low
- Effects: Low
- Post Processing: Low
- Foliage: Low
- V-Sync: Off
Now that I think of it, I remember that I did experience a crash once, but it was an isolated event.
I do recommend playing this game on the deck, as it runs flawlessly (well, 99% of the time) and the experience is great on the handheld.

Battery life drained fast and I would often need to be charging and playing. I believe I adjusted the fps.
Text and readability of the game was small at times.
There are times with significant slow downs.
I had a good time with the game but I also felt like there was some significant performance issues with the deck running hot and having decreased battery life overall. I still think this is a good way to play this game.
Frequent major FPS loss when not in water, probably related to light reflections (not sure)

Game works pretty well with a pretty solid 60fps. However, I did experience a freezing issue preventing playing when NOT connected to wifi
Game would not exceed 60fps in default setting
Game would sometimes freeze on startup, requiring a force shutdown when NOT connected to wifi. Connecting to my phone's hotspot solved this.

Runs good
Sometimes stutters when entering new areas.

Runs at the games max allowed FPS (150), no issues. Just install and play!
PS4 controller was not detected.

Lots of stuttering, although this might be consistent with the windows version, based on some other steam reviews which also mentioned lots of stuttering.
Marked positive, because I could see people putting up with the level of stuttering I experienced and still having fun with it.
Mangohud for granular frame limiting.

Graphics were poor but not enough to detract from gameplay
Whilst graphically on Deck this wasn't superb, this is made up by the fact the gameplay loop is simple and addictive enough to see it through to completion.
Overall I enjoyed my time with this one, and playing it on Deck lends itself well to the simple nature of the game.
Back button to view enemies instead of pressing right stick. Less wear on the right stick.
Set to 45 fps
Occasional frame drops when there is a lot happening on screen
Seems perfect
Some stuttering at the beginning, probably for shaders compilation. It worked perfectly after that

Custom Proton: GE-Proton7-41
Few stutters on the cutscenes and few seconds after + crashes. Same as for other people with Proton 7-21. Latest (7-41) did not seem to improve anything, but at least it is still playable.

Attacking or leaving the water makes the game crackle, this affects the narrator's dialogue. When doing anything else, audio is completely fine.
When going back and forth in the edge of 2 areas of the map, there's a chance of the game black screening for a few seconds.
The game crashed 3 times total throughout a 100% playthrough.
If you experience audio issues, either turn down the volume or tinker more until you find a solution.

not sure what went wrong, but some savegames went missing after cloud sync
Menu was unresponsive at times. Reducing resolution and graphics helped.
Use GE7-21 on Heroic Games Launcher to run this.

Display refresh rate: 40Hz
most text is very small but readable
sporadic framedrops
Epic Version, started through Heroic Launcher Apart from some framedrops, it runs pretty well
Change to 40hz refresh rate

Finished game without any real issues
Crashed 3-4 times during playthrough. Nothing progress hindering
Every startup, game is locked to 60fps. Had to change something in settings for it to unlock again

Ultrawide supported, install and play
Logitech F710 gamepad works after enabling Steam Input
3440x1440 max settings, runs great. Saw some occasional fps dip that looked like shader cache stutter, and it was not reproducible.
Fun game, but as reported previously does suffer from significant performance issues.
The game runs on every boot initially 60 fps and after playing a while it gets lower and lower and at the end I might be playing with less than 20 fps.

After the crash my savegame was gone, I was level 30 and now back to level 5, checked the savegame folder but it was already overwritten. This is likely a game issue and has nothing to do with protondb.
on occasion game becomes slow and turns you around.
Had 1 crash

6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
There was initially some stutter due to missing shader caches. This shouldn't be an issue over time, when shader caches have been collected by Steam.
Using GloriousEggroll to fix missing videos.

Heavy performance issues when starting the game with stock proton
6.21-GE-2 makes it at least runnable, but the huge performance issues persist, making the game unplayable.

It stutters a lot during the start, gets better over time, but here and there there is some spike.
Works very well with 6.3-8. Intro splash requires media foundation but game is playable.
A few stuttering in the opening scene.
Recommend 6.21-GE2

6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
6.21-GE-2
Occasional stuttering, particularly during the initial cutscenes within the game. A fairly positive experience though, didn't have continual stuttering when eating other creatures, as previous poster have experienced.
Out of the box with Proton 6.20-GE-1

Its just a horrible experience when theres massive stuttering every time you bite something.
Every time you bite (important in a game where you play as a shark), performance drops to < 10 fps and stutters badly for a moment

Proton-6.10-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases/tag/6.10-GE-1
Installs and plays fine, just hangs from time time but probably bacuse of the older hardware I'm running this on

6.9-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
6.9-GE-1
Some freezes when looking around first time after the game loaded
