(Applies to both GE:R and GE2:RB)
If using a kernel with the /dev/ntsync
module enabled and a recent version of Proton with NTsync supported (currently only the version tested, GE-Proton10-9, has this), loading issues are resolved and does not require core pinning anymore. Any DX extra libraries are also not needed anymore for fullscreening to be stable.
Some have reported that the FMVs should(?) be working out of the box in the upstrean Proton 10 beta; in my case, I still need to manually install the necessary verb listed above.

GE1 | Mostly OOTB
Going sometimes in a Loading-Hell "taskset -c 0,2 %command%" should kill them
This comment is pointing to GE:Ressurection. Haven't played GE2 yet and will update, when i'm on GE2

powertools, SMT off, set threads to 2
both this game and resurrection run smoothly with decky loader and powertools installed with the settings listed and have really bad freezing issues without it. opening has audio sync/stutter issues half the time and all other anime/prerendered cutscenes (at least in resurrection) don't play properly (have audio, video replaced with generic color bars). all in-game cutscenes play properly and audio has no issues playing otherwise. it's possible this could be fixed by changing the video file type but, seeing as i have no clue how the game loads those files, this could also just cause more problems than it would fix.
games also have a few other issues (specifically particle effects being invisible when overlapping with the skybox in any way and the ai not exactly behaving as intended) but those have to do with the ports themselves and nothing on the deck's end as they also occur on my laptop running windows.
overall definitely a good way to play these games if you don't mind taking a stop to youtube for the broken cutscenes. also recommend the fanmade ai patch to mostly fix the somewhat buggy companions.

taskset -c 0 %command%
There is an unskippable cutscene that must play in order to advance in the game at the end of Difficulty Six, however, the cutscene will freeze the game with every version of Proton I tried. Switching to GE-Proton 9-27 muted a lot of the game's audio but DID allow the cutscene video to play and thus, continue the game.
The input lag is very noticeable, on par with Dark Souls or Code Vein. The game also suffers from negative mouse acceleration (faster mouse movements result in the camera moving less and more slowly).
More CPU cores = WORSE. 1 Core = normal, 2 Cores = Super Laggy, 4+ Cores = game will not load. MUST disable all but 1 core for a playable 60 FPS experience.
THIS IS FOR GOD EATER RESURRECTION.
I cannot add a review of God Eater Resurrection for some reason so I am placing my review here. I have seen identical issues reported with both games so I hope this will be helpful.
The game (God Eater Resurrection) has a myraid of issues. This review can save players dozens of hours of research and tinkering time. The 3 biggest issues are: the game starting to an infinte black screen, the game being LITERALLY impossible to beat at one point and negative mouse acceleration.
The game will launch to an infinite black screen unless the Launch Option mentioned above is entered. Other sites and YouTubevideos will claim altering the game's config file and changing the fullscreen value under GFX from 1 to 2 will solve the issue. This does NOT work.
On the final story mission of Difficulty Six, an unskippable needs to play in order to progress in the game but it will freeze the game 100% of the time. No version of Proton I tried allowed the cutscene to play; temporarily switching to GE Proton 9-27 did. This caused opening movie and Difficulty Six cutscene to have no audio but DID allow the cutscene video to play and thus, progress in the game. Upon saving at the end of the cutscene, switching back to Proton 9.0-4 restored the audio. Windows users reported the same issue but some were able to resolve it by updating codecs.
Negative mouse acceleration remains unsolved.

Cambiar a proton experimental y utilizar el comando, soluciona la pantalla en negro ademas de las pequeñas pausas en los menus pero rompe algunas cinematicas del juego. Esto aplica tanto para God Eater 2 y Resurrection

Single core seems to be required on my desktop, as file access related stalling was still happening with two cores enabled for this game.

taskset -c 0,2 %command%
WITHOUT the launch parameter, the game has minute-long loading times and "freezes" all the time while browsing menus, because it seems to have threading-related problems on systems with more than two cores. WITH the launch parameter set (limiting the game to two cores) I played for 20+ hours without any major problems, maybe three or four menu-freezes which would unfreeze themselves after 5 seconds or so...
(this report is mainly for God Eater Resurrection, which you cannot review standalone here as it's a part of GE2RB, which has the same engine-problems and can also be fixed with the same launch parameter)

taskset -c 0 %command%
Game will randomly freeze when loading new assets without launch options. It appears the game wants to run on a single CPU core and SMT disabled. On steam deck you can get away with using 2 cores using the launch options: taskset -c 0,2 %command% however there is still a chance that the game may randomly freeze, I only had this happen 2 times during my 70 hour play time and it went away on its own after waiting a minute or two. If you are running this on Desktop linux I would recommend to stick to one core using the same launch option but like this: taskset -c 0 %command% . The game seems to not have been optimized to run on multiple threads leading to this behavior, which seems to be the case for many older games. Steam deck users can also use the DeckyLoader and Powertools plugin if they dont want to use the launch options.
Install Decky Loader plugin then use that to install PowerTools. As with previous report, turn SMT off and set threads to 2. Can also scroll down to save settings for every game launch. Fixes loading time issues without the menu fps issues from PROTON_NO_ESYNC or FSYNC. There does not seem to be performance issue during combats. Currently using Proton 8.0.5 which is the steam default.

You need to use the latest Proton-GE for the prerendered videos to play (the opening movie is the only one I've seen with problems for now). The prerendered videos play, but have no sounds, I tried installing codecs with protontricks but there is still no sound in the opening. The game freezes and loads slowly, using PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 fixes the loads and freezes, but FPS goes down to sub 10 in fights and menus. To fix the fps issues use the PowerTools Decky plugin and disable SMT, then assign only 2 threads. For some reason this change immediately makes the game load fast and the FPS is locked on 60 in menus and in battles without the need for the PROTON_NO_FSYNC and PROTON_NO_ESYNC environment variables.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
If you don't disable fsync/esync, game would start with a black screen. Also, I didn't play the game for too long, might be that GE-Proton is needed for some in-game movie or whatever but so far I haven't noticed it.

Game becomes unresponsive for several minutes when in menus and sometimes freezes mid gameplay.
Game freezes for several minutes when loading new assets, probably some issue with the way it uses threads.
After some experimenting the best option I found for running this game is to install Decky Loader and Powertools plugins. Within Powertools disable SMT and set thread count to 2. After doing this the game ran fine. I did not need to disable FSYNC or ESYNC.

PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
This game seems to work fine until you are on the character creation menu or when changing loadouts. By default it will softlock on the deck anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes during changes. To fix this issue I disabled esync and fsync in the launch options.
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
This immediately fixed all above issues and the game is running smoothly. Enjoy!
The game takes literal minutes to load into. Given how basic the overall graphics of this game is, I did not expect this level of long loading. Almost every screen that involves loading either new 3D models (e.g., gear change) or 2D sprites (e.g., follower personal skills menu) take ages to load said asset. Sometimes the menus will also lock up (prevent you from navigating into a lower level or out of the current level) while the assets are being loaded.
This report applies to God Eater 1 Resurrection, which is bundled with GE2 Rage Burst. GE1R is marked as "Steam Deck Verified", which imo should absolutely not be the case. At best, it should be marked "Playable" with notes about significant performance issues, if not outright marked as "Unsupported" due to how poor the experience is.
60+ second loading times, every time. Takes several mintes just to get to a mission. May also suddenly freeze mid-gameplay (music will still play).

Overall amazing experiance both in and out of combat.
Small slowdowns after defeating enemys, but nothing too noticable
Sleep mode for this game takes 5-10 minutes to actually put the game to sleep and wake up.
Trying to customize characters will take 5-10 to load new hair, clothes, etc.
Certain rooms take significantly longer to load than others.
Game freezes or takes a long time to load constantly.
Typing is also a pain for this game on the Steam Deck and sleep or wake up takes 5-10 minutes.

Disabling Esync/Fsync is required to avoid the game basically softlocking.
The biggest issue is that the game drops to <30fps during almost any intense particle effects, especially with multiple NPC companions. Certain menus hang for a couple seconds, and loading screens are long and laggy.
Very playable without companions and I haven't run into many performance issues in this scenario. Otherwise, I boot back into Windows for multiplayer, during which the performance and load times are not worth the hassle.
I'll post again once I play GE2RB, though I don't expect it to be much different than GER.

Proton-6.13-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.13-GE-1
Wildly inconsistent FPS in missions. GE2 is usually around 20-30fps, but can dip down to 15 or spike up to 60 on occasion. GER is worse, often running between 5-15fps rarely spiking up to 30fps.
Certain menus have stuttering problems. Database is particularly bad.
"Enjoyable for a typical gamer" might be a stretch. I enjoyed them, but I have a pretty high tolerance for framerate issues.
In HDD load times will be long. Runs on proton 6.3-5, but videos will be skipped. Proton-GE could fix this issue too.

For GE Resurrection, since that doesn't have it's own working page. Not great, but playable.
Fixes excessively long load screens (5 min+ without this option) and soft locks on certain menus (character customization, equipment)
Minor to moderate framerate drops in mission areas. Database menus get slower the longer you stay in them, starting with minor hiccups progressing to multiple seconds to switch from one entry to the next.
I'll do another report for GE2 if/when I get around to playing it.

Works
Game works now out of the box.

Proton-5.11-GE-3-MF GloriousEggroll
To start the game I had to use ProtonGE. With Proton 5.13 the game didn't work. To start a new game I had to disconnect my Steam controller as with it I was not able to enter the player name.

Without disabling Esync the game is unplayable.
The game stutters a lot when loading in new things (such as menu prompts, missions etc.). There is also a significant drop in framerate whilst in combat.
Having many characters in the missing and some weapon effects causes a serious decline in fps. Also some menus as well as the loading screen stutter

The loading screen and some menus lag a bit. No issues with the game play so far
If Esync isn't disabled, the game becomes practically unresponsive. For example it takes 5 to 10 seconds in menu anything to happen after button press.
With Esync disabled the game is runnable. However loading anything new seems to drop frame rates severely. In home base game runs very steady 60fps, but as environment it is very small. In field running little longer distance drops frames to around 40. When multiple enemies are present and teammates start shooting, you can use your fingers to count frames.

Turning off fsync and/or esync is needed because the assets will stream incredibly slow. Even the character creator when starting the game has problems with it.

I only got to the menu after a couple of tries. But it still hangs on the loading sceen when you wanna start a game slot.
It might be neccessary to keep the game in focus. You need proton 5.0.3

This is for God Eater Resurrection. To defeat the DRM problem you have to use a Wine based Steam install, for example you could use Lutris. Will not work if you use a Linux based install. Runs pretty much perfectly after that is done with no tweaks.

Doesn't work at all with Proton from Steam. To play it, you have to download Lutris and use the "Wine Steam" runner... i think the game have a way to know if you play with native linux Steam or windows Steam...anyway, Playing it from Lutris it work flawless!
