Couldn't get game to progress past the star loading screen without forcing Experimental. Game doesn't seem to fully use the GPU, but still holds 55-60 FPS at almost all times.

Works Perfectly out of the box
no tinkering required
LD_PRELOAD="" PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr %command% -dx12
Older versions of Steam did not have problems. Recent versions have caused unplayable FPS loss and stuttering anywhere from 20-40 minutes into the game, forcing a restart. The LD_PRELOAD="" commandline workaround handles this problem.
Probably related to this bug: Unified DXVK/VKD3D lag timebomb in most games if compiled from git #4436
For 1440p, I cap fps to 60 to keep the experience smoother. My favorite settings are: resolution 1440p, fullscreen, vsync off, quality low, streaming memory high, motion blur off, ambient occlusion off, shadows low, AMD FSR 1.0 ultra quality. This gets me ~50-60 fps consistently on this old machine everywhere and the game looks great.
I used to be able to play this game without FSR on higher quality settings (up from defaults) with the same hardware. Recent changes to Steam and the software stack have killed FPS on nearly everything.

A large block of color on the screen for several seconds when starting up, the the game starts as normal
When using Proton 9.0+, game crashes immediately on startup

First all, under Linux, you need ProtonUp-Qt (the flatpak version is just fine) then install the GE-Proton9-26 or above and you need to associate the installed module to Steam, Heroic, Lutris, whatever you have pre installed. In this case, after that, you just have to open Steam and go under the game properties in order to activate the compatibility mode with the GE Proton you just had in. If your steps are correct, you should be able to do that even from the Big Picture mode with a gamepad! That's why, my verdict is: console-like experience. Obviously, don't forget to use the FSR Balanced or Quality settings at 1080p for the best framerate results. It's a great game, it runs flawlessly at the second time, considering how huge is in terms of textures and shaders preload. So, be patient and precise under Linux ;-)

Perfect out of box experience.
Install and play.

I have the OG Death Stranding (bought it shortly after release) on my steam account, and not the directors cut, but it also runs out of the box without any tweaking

Game runs fine.
Game installed without issue and runs like a dream. No issues to report.

PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr gamemoderun %command% -dx12
Was crashing all the time when going into map view. Seems to be stable with the listed settings. Been stable for about an hour now but was crashing after 20 minutes before switching to experimental.

gamepad not works in epic games version. downloaded from steam and all works fine
works better than on windows

Mouse and Duaoshock 4 works perfectly, but keyboard have some delay
The game runs perfectly without adjusts on Proton-9
Works OOTB
Works seamlessly
Excellent world building. Can't believe I enjoy being a courier.
Works perfectly.
works out of the box

Also works perfect with window actions like switching virtual desktop, alt + tab or minimize.

In order for the haptic feedback of the Dualsense controller to work, I needed to connect the audio output of the game to the proper playback channel of the controller using PipeWire. I used a software called Helvum to get a GUI and do this. More information can be found here: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1b5cemu/enable_dualsense_haptic_feedback_in_helldivers_2/
Haptic feedback of the Dualsense controller not working.
Good and stable performance. You can just install and play. I had problems with haptic feedback of the Dualsense controller, wich is a function that the game is supposed to support out of the box. Other than that, it's just smooth.

I didn't try on default steam only in fear to corrupt the already existing prefix, but I'm pretty sure it runs flawlessly

Runs perfectly, played 8 hours in one go, not a single crash or even stutter.
Works perfectly on Kubuntu 24.10

Runs flawlessly with proton 9.0-3 (Tested only on X11)

runs perfect
Amazing game, runs perfect without any issues. Currently in episode 5 and everything just works, performance is great, online connectivity works flawless. Great experience.

Trackpad didn't work, it acted as a cursor and couldn't be remapped. Gyro doesn't work,

No issues to note. Great game from Kojima Productions, i heavily recommend it!

Runs like it's supposed to, no bugs or artifacts.
Very enjoyable experience so far.

If you have issues with the latest version of Proton, use version 7.06. It is completely stable and runs without problems.

As others say, trigger haptics on Dualsense or XSX controllers don't work.
On various proton versions, including experimental and GE, fps counts tanked by as much as 40% as compared to on 9.0-2
Depending on your hardware, preference, or personal sensitivity, the fps drop might not even be noticeable. It seemed to hold around 70fps on other proton versions which, while absolutely not using the hardware to its fullest, for a game like DS that doesn't have a ton of fast motion is perfectly comfortable without even really noticing. There's no stutters or anything like that. For everyone else, Proton 9 seems to be the most reliable option for the best performance.

No tinkers, no lags, no problems whatsoever. Felt perfectly native.
Runs perfectly out of the box

If you like playing with a keyboard and mouse, it should be good, but I can't recommand if you want to play it with a PS4 controller.
gamemoderun %command% -dx12
Can't get my PS4 controller to work on the game. I got like a 30% chance of it picking it up at every launch. Will come back here if I'm able to fix this.
Another thing is, for some reason, the game doesn't pick up my keyboard unless I close every window behind it. I don't know if it an issue with the game or Hyprland, but it is the only game that does this.
Apart from the control issues, it runs like a charm.
Run better then windows

gamemoderun %command%
Even exporting the game saves to DC version, the game says that save is corrupted. To fix I follow these steps: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1190460/discussions/0/3728449612309994056/
With my default opensource driver the game crashes in initialization. After upgrade driver the game runs perfectly. This issue shows all fix steps: https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/issues/2019
After little adjusts, the game runs perfectly to me. I think many of the players will not need do these adjusts.

Game worked right after installing and I was able to use my dualsense. Sadly the haptics aren't functioning properly and I only felt the adaptive triggers but not the vibration part of it. Otherwise the LEDs seem to be lighting up properly according to what is happening in-game.
Worked out-of-the-box

Game only works when the Monitor is connected to my iGPU. So just plug the monitor to your CPU's HDMI
This occured when trying to launch using Screen connected to dGPU
The game wouldn't launch if the Monitor/Screen is connected to dGPU
