Works like native.

130~ hours in - had zero issues. REframework mods also work on steam deck.

TDP to 10 watts, GPU clock to 900
Had artifacting during sunbreak final boss, never appeared anywhere else
In advanced graphics settings, make sure image quality is 100% and not 150% as this was causing stuttering. Most other settings are up to you and matter more for battery life than framerate. Lowering resolution and having FSR on can help, but can also make text harder to read

Occassionally during a hunt the game slows down and rubberbands back.
Disable dynamic shadows for higher FPS. I was able to get 50 on a 1440p external monitor at native resolution, and stable 60 with no dips at 720.

TDP 10w
Online connectivity is regional and not worldwide, limiting players to who they can connect with. Can be fixed with a mod called "Better Matchmaking"
The game plays at a constant 60fps so long as you change these settings in options > display > advanced graphics settings, while on the main menu.
Image quality = 100% (in game) Dynamic Shadows = off Processing reduction via model swap = on Mesh Quality = Average
The big one for me was Dynamic Shadows. In Elgado, I was getting 55fps with dips, but when I disabled this setting it shot up to 85fps.
With these settings I was able to lower the TDP to 10w to get a constant 60fps while maintaining battery and reducing fan noise.
Ensure to use in game vsync(not frame rate cap) not the Decks built in limiter, for lowest latency. Frame rate cap in game causes stutter and frame time inconsistencies.

Game did not respect the SteamOS frame limiter no matter what I tried
It's working again even with Enigma in there, seems they fixed it. Sucks that the DRM is still in there but the game works at least.

WINESTEAMNOEXEC=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
as 'Hyper_Eye' on the steam community mentioned. Adding "WINESTEAMNOEXEC=1" to your launch options fixes the current DRM problems, I tested this personally and was able to join an online lobby, capcom says they're "looking into it", but until then, set your launch options to: WINESTEAMNOEXEC=1' %command%

Ver. 16.0.2.0 adds Enigma. An invasive antimodding malware introduces poor performance and incompatibility with linux.

New update kills the game. Does not launch.

New Proton Hotfix dropped, Monster Hunter Rise works again after the latest update with it

January 21 update added Engima DRM and now the game will not launch on Steam Deck, regardless of Proton compatibility layer. No mods or third party engines (REFramework) running, standard vanilla install, tried Experimental, 8.03, GE-7.29, all immediately return to the Steam menu.

Game will not launch/immediately crashes as of 1/21/24 latest update. Apparently related to new DRM "Enigma" which Capcom has been adding to games. Played very well before and was very sad to see it go.

Really runs exceptionally well. Stable 60 if you were to keep it at the default refresh rate.
Capped Refresh Rate at 40hz
The direction of the arrow indicating the player's location is difficult to figure out.

In game 30fps lock will cause judder. If you want to save battery, use the deck's built-in frame limiter instead.
Perfect. everything works as expected

TDP 6w和GPU限制600,锁定40Hz刷新能流畅且省电游玩,可装mod,Fluffy Manager 5000添加非steam游戏强制兼容Proton Experimental就可使用,游戏不支持16:10所以两边会有黑边

1120*720 + 12W + 900MHz Graphic. 40/50Hz screen depending on your preference for better battery performance.
It just works. Use of REFramework with vertical resolution fix for 16:10 support. Only issue is loading screens that you can see through the "image" of loading on the bottom.
in game, the steam controller will always lose control
Text is generally small, but not excruciatingly so.
The two menu buttons icons are opposite to the steam deck's
Played lot of times online, no issues found.
The game is moddable with ReFramework and mods are working (Just don't install REFramework Direct2D)
Some reason I had to switch to proton 8.0.1 for it to recognize the steam deck controller again.
Some reason I had to force proton to 8.0.1, it didn't recognize the steamdeck controller. previously it would work without having to do that. Adding this report to help someone in the future

Audio sometimes slows down and becomes distorted when returning from sleep mode on Steam Deck. Fixed by restarting game or leaving it for awhile until it reverts.
Crashes the whole Steam Deck randomly while in multiplayer, and I have had random freezes that require a reboot, only in multiplayer. I don't know the cause as it happens both in and outside of hunts, but it is most frequent in multiplayer.
Aforementioned random crashing of the Steam Deck in multiplayer. Requires a reboot when it happens.
Sorry if this is a duplicate report, my last one didn't seem to register as pending on my profile so I am making a new one.
My only gripe with Monster Hunter Rise on Steam Deck is the random crashing in multiplayer when playing with my friend on Windows. I haven't tinkered with other Proton versions since I don't know the cause of the issue. Otherwise, it is more than playable and really should be Verified in my opinion despite the crashing.

In-game audio occasionally noticibly slows down when returning from sleep mode on Steam Deck. Returns to normal is left for awhile or restarted.
Crashes the Steam Deck to a black screen in multiplayer sometimes. I have played several hours in solo play and it has only crashed once, but playing with my friend on Windows will randomly result in a crash, inside and outside hunts.
Random Steam Deck crashes frequently inturrupt multiplayer.
My only gripe with MHR is that the multiplayer randomly crashes my Steam Deck, forcing me to restart the system and rejoin. I haven't heard about anyone else talking about this issue, so it could be just me. I haven't tried switching Proton versions since I don't have a reproducible method to test for crashes.
40fps refresh rate and framerate. 7w TDP Limit.
You can play with default settings perfectly fine but if you want to increase battery life slight adjustments are needed.
Frame rate and refresh rate set to 40
Played with Dual Shock and Nintendo Pro Controller with bluetooth, sometimes they would be unresponsive or laggy, it was fixed when choosing 5G Wifi, seems to have solved the issue (apparently 5G doesn't interfere with bluetooth because of different frequency).
Usually I would go out on a hunt and when I start attacking a monster the game freezes and crashed. This was fixed with turning off the controller vibration.
Turning off controller vibration prevented the game from crashing every time a monster would hit you. Everything else runs just fine. Played with Dual Shock and Nintendo Pro controller.
The game started and worked fine once. Won't launch again.
Stopped launching
I really want to try and get into monster hunter and understand what all the hype is. I have no way to play it other than my Steam Deck due to how often I'm away from home. But it just stopped launching.
If you want the perfect SteamDeck game, you found it. Rise runs at a buttery-smooth 60fps out of the box. I've played for 20+ hours on the deck so far and it hasn't stuttered or dipped once. Be sure to use Steam button + X to bring up the keyboard for typing names.
休眠唤醒后无法继续运行。(在Steam暂停菜单可见音频和视频皆在运行但进入游戏则黑屏) 并且通过Steam退出后会导致SteamOS上方状态栏消失)
It's just as good on desktop and switch. Finding games doesn't take too long and the multiplayer is quite enjoyable.
Framerate Limit: 30; Thermal Power Limit: 5 Watts; GPU Clock Frequency: 600
Flawless performance with no tinkering.
The steam deck's shit wifi chip was all the problem.
Subjective, but the text is a bit small for me
Installed REFramework to force 16:10 and allow mods
- Average preset
- 40 Hz and 40 FPS lock
- 10 W TDP
Small by default, UI elements can be scaled with Adjustable UI Scale mod
REFramework is recommended to fix some issues.
A lot of REFramework mods are hit or miss and will crash on startup, in my experience, Adjustable UI Scale and Better Matchmaking work fine. Aspect ratio fix can be enabled in REFramework Graphics settings, making the game 16:10 and allowing FOV customization.
Text is small but didn't stop me from playing
Limit the FPS to 40-30
The game freezes under certain attacks from both players or monsters. Attacks such as major explosions or roars from monsters are prone to produce this freeze.
Like I stated before, the game freezes under certain attatcks, no idea what's the cause of this as I tried with the default Proton version, Proton Experimental and GE-Proton7-40. After the freeze it takes likes 2+ minutes to go back to normal, weirdly enough the background music keps playing.
For a bit more of information, I use some graphical plugins on my deck such as CSS loader and Vibrant Deck. I don't know if they can even trigger such error as I'm not seeing other users experimenting the same issue
TDP 6 Watts, 40 FPS Cap
Both Windowed and Fullscreen are limited to 16:9, so there are bars on the Steam Deck
This is a game worth playing on the Deck. Literally the only issue that I ran into is that the game doesn't support 16:10, even if you select 1280x800 resolution. So there will be borders when you play on the Deck. But this is the only issue. You can actually set this at 6 TDP and cap it at 40 FPS to get 4.5 hours of gaming. Very impressive for a title like this!
Entering the lobby code is a bit awkward, but not a barrier.
