the game has a launcher, but all u gotta do is tap the touchscreen or hold the steam button to access the mouse to get past it
even if you dont do the fix the game can run at 30 so for any normal gamer who doesnt care will still enjoy the game.
added the "atelier fix" which brings the game from a sub par 30fps on the lowest to a solid 60 on low to medium. this is basically a must install!!
when im at home or plugged in i play at 60 but when i go out i just cap the game to 30 with the steam deck fps capper. works good and gives the battery way more time on the game.
you need to either use the touch screen in the launcher or hold the steam button and use the trackpad or stick to select "play" or "settings" or whatever u wanna select
without the "atelier fix" the game runs really poorly for the way it looks. a must have fix for this and all other ryza games which i guess all have this issue.
The game runs very good out of the box, controls will be very familiar if you've played it on any console it's ever been released on.
Frame drops in Sanctuary that can't really be fixed completely and when it gets chaotic frames will drop massively but not during normal play
Borderlands 2 at 60fps on the go? Yes, absolutely worth it. Better than the switch version in every way possible.
Launcher needs to be controlled with the touchscreen
Runs as it should. Could join a game and play no problem.
Have to select a community preset or setup trackpad manually to access option to turn gamepad support on. And then swap back to default config in steam menu.
Runs really good, very slow load times, even on the SSDA because of pre load shader cache built in the game. Controller doesn't work out of the box but it isn't hard to setup. FSR doesn't seem to work with this game but changing the resolution scale to 75% still looks crips if you change the antialiasing. Just mess with the settings to get the look and performance how you want.
It feels really weird and kind of unstable at times. Hard to explain, best to try yourself on the Deck.
Tried accessing console to enable native controller support to no avail
Sticks felt weird in specific positions and situations
I've always had to add an "active.txt" to the profiles folder to play the game at all for some reason
game runs great. just set to 40hz with fsr (which is prob on by default) and it'll look clean and sharp.
i almost 100%ed this game entirely on the deck with only a little playtime on my windows pc, so go for it :)
It installs without issues, launches without issues, and runs pretty great on the deck from what I've played.
Changed settings to all low with the exception of texture quality set to medium. FSR 2.0 on quality with sharpening at 0.3.
In some cutscenes and in the gear menu my character would flicker. This started after I change the texture quality to medium mid game so a restart might fix it. The VRAM usage only peaked at around 4gb so it shouldn't be a VRAM issue.
This only happened one time so far, but once during combat the game turned into a sideshow for seemingly no reason. Prior to the huge drop it was a solid 35-40fps during the encounter.
I also ran this using cryoutilities on both Steam OS 3.4 and 3.5 and both ran about the same, I think.
Game freezes on the IF boot video. Changing to the proton version listed will boot, freeze on the IF screen or willl be completely black but if you press A a few times it fixes the problem and the game works fine after
It's just as good on desktop and switch. Finding games doesn't take too long and the multiplayer is quite enjoyable.
so if you play on two platforms ive found that if youre like me and run max settings on desktop and then switch over to the deck the settings wont go back to your deck settings like most games do. so youll have to change anything you had changed back to how you wanted them to be
You can get it for a buck or two on key sites and it's perfect for the deck imo. Can't go wrong here
Runs too poorly on deck to be worth it imo. There are better final fantasy's and jrpgs anyways.
The game has extreme fps drops and overall runs really poorly. Also the games engine is tied to the fps. So if you set it to a 120 cap and you run the game at 3on the steam deck for instance the game will play at a snails pace.
If you only have a deck pass on this. If you have a beefy rig then this should be just fine to play. Otherwise, steer clear.
Small fps spikes, to big dips, but never in combat. Only seems to drop really low in like the 3rd lords city
Small dips in some areas that were fixed by raising the TDP
Getting past the hurdles, it's just a good borderlands game. It's free as of writing this, so go get it!
The game would get stuck on the steam deck start up. Had to restart the deck to fix it.
For some odd reason it wasn't letting me add always on commands so I couldn't turn off the touch screen.
Entering flamerock killed fps for a moment, but isn't consistently terrible.
Runs buttery smooth out of the box and the controls and such feel nice. (My tweak was for my own sake lol)
I configured one of the back grip buttons to be the loot button to make it not feel crammed for it to be A for so many things
Some of the HUD such as the map can be kind of hard to see the details of up in the corner (although that might just be me lol) other than that it's fantastic
I made a loot button binded to R5. I made it into a community layout so you can either use that, or look at how I did it and swap it to where you want it. Happy looting!
