It struggles to maintain 30fps most of the time. Smooth on the open world part, but who cares, the boss fights will have big slowdowns.
If you want the fewest framedrop ever, set global settings to low and then change AA to high, SSAO medium, shadow medium. You will barely see any difference compared to maximum settings except for less grass.
My biggest gripe with the game: Some texts are SUPER small. The deck barely able to render the alphabet, yet other games with much bigger text are rated playable by valve because of the "hard to read text".
Objects popping out when you fast travel
Even with everything set to low there will be framedrop when there is rapid camera movements. So yes, framedrop will occur more often during during boss fights due to the camera locking to them flying around the area.
Sometimes the game just freezes and the deck reboots.
Don't trust the verified badge. It's false advertising. Horrible performance and fuzzy tiny texts. It's obvious that valve is giving it a green badge just so they can slap the elden ring cover on their page because it was the most popular game at the time.
The game gives a good impression at the start with smooth performance but it gets worse as you explore. If this is your only way to play the game you will have a bad time. 2 hours of refund window is not gonna be enough to get to the parts where the performance slogs.
In game 30fps lock will cause judder. If you want to save battery, use the deck's built-in frame limiter instead.
Perfect. everything works as expected
Flickering during cutscenes if switching to DX12
The game uses DX11 by default but it has slowdowns in heavy areas, hovering around 55-57 fps. Switching to DX12 solves it. Once the game is done compiling shaders, it runs 60++ fps all the time. But DX12 causes flickering during 2D cutscenes. Locking to 55hz on DX11 is preferable because the flickering gave me headache.
Stuttering when moving to new areas due to the game compiling shaders. After that is done it's buttery smooth.
