Upon first launch it kept fluctuating between 20-25FPS reglardless of settings. After restarting the game (post tutorial stage) I got a nearly consistent 60FPS, even when putting the settings on high. No issue with controls or anything, everything runs very well so far.

Works well, make sure the right GPU is selected.
Switch to High Precision Mode if your mouse feels slow.
Despite my previous test saying I was using the GTX 1060, I apparently wasn't. Make sure __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia Are in your ~/.bashrc (on their own separate lines) if you're using a laptop with both nvidia and an integrated GPU.

After the Logos, game hung infinitely. (Using GTX 1060 not Intel)
Even though my system says it's using Intel, it's actually using the GTX 1060.

Disabled Backgrip Buttons
A lot of popups with new feature and item tutorials were rather small
It lagged sometimes but it wasn't really bad.
Due to memory leaks, text was disappearing when often resuming the game from sleep. Game restarts fix this.

Rebound nearly everything as the default control scheme is awful (a twin-stick controlled game that requires you to use face buttons for everything).
Launching the game on High results in an unfixable 15fps until the game is restarted.
Regular stutter with FPS dropping from 60 to 57 every 10-20 seconds while nowhere near peak utilization, but nothing that prohibits from enjoying the game.

I could not get the movies to play without switching to Glorious Eggroll, and even then they have no audio. The game has an option to disable the movies, so they aren't that important. There are only a handful, anyway. Everything else is flawless.

Flawless

High and medium settings result in 15fps. Runs at 60fps on low.
There's barely any difference between low and high looks wise due to the art style.

seldom frame stutters or when panning to a very detailed view
I don't see why valve marked this as incompatible or people are having lots of issues. I haven't made any modifications or tinkerings and the game runs just fine.
Played really well. Graphics are set to low because there is little difference otherwise. Constant 60fps with rare dips to 56.
Wouldn't launch with Proton 8 or 7.6
Wouldn't launch
Changed refresh rate to 40.
In game mode gamescope seems to interfer greatly resulting in quite poor performance (regardless of "allow tearing", fps limit, refresh rate). Switching to desktop mode and launching the game there works around this completely.
Only way to play this well is desktop mode. Runs fine after that
Some text is incredibly hard to read.
Game often stutters, even at stable framerates.
This game does not hold a stable 60 fps, but also does not like it when you go below it. I tried everything, but there's stutters that often happen, at any framerate. I had the best result with proton 7.0-5, keeping the in-game framerate at 60, and locking it to 30 through steam. You won't get as much stutters, but it will still happen. Mostly when you go exploring.
There is a super easy fix to get the game running smooth at 60fps. Launch the gtom in DESKTOP MODE.
DXVK_ASYNC=1
Stuttering issues that are quite pronounced.
Desktop mode makes the game run smooth at 60fps. Occasional dips in extreme sequences are nigh unnoticeable.
The player takes the role of a Builder rescued by a mysterious boy named Malroth from the ocean and transported to the Isle of Awakening,
Set refresh rate to 40, set FPS max to 40, set in game FPS to 30. (else you get jittery game play.)
Frames jitter if the the limiter in the steamdeck does not match the game.
If you have the game Set to 60 FPS, the Steam deck needs to be unlocked to push 60. Having the refreshrate uncapped and the frame limiter off is needed.
You can also play it at 30fps, I capped it at 40fps, and it seemed to be okay.
DXVK_ASYNC=1
Launch via Desktop Mode - see below note.
The frame pacing issue present when launched in Game Mode is not present in Desktop Mode. Launching from Desktop with medium-low settings provided smooth frametimes with the occasional stutter, as the problem seems to be a conflict between Game Mode's forced vsync and DQB2's engine. Highly recommend playing via Desktop.
Seems to function as intended, but perfomance has something going on, all settings give about same fps
Regardless of settings, even both minimum and maximum settings ended up with the same performance at ~45fps and similar power draws, setting to 30fps causes stuttering
keep graphics settings to medium or less for improved performance
I have run through the beginning portion and as of yet have not had any game breadking issues or crashes.
The game does not like to work on 30FPS, this includes both in-game settings or SteamDeck settings. Setting both to 60 lets the game work as expected without framerate issues.
Early on the opening cinematic did not work. It has been working after an update back in May
Setting the framerate to 60 and medium graphics settings for smoothest gameplay.
Works great but built-in frame limiter seems to work incorrectly (possibly an issue with the game itself).
Sometimes old frames will flicker onto the screen. This especially is noticeable the further the framerate dips below 60.
Sometimes the input prompts would flicker between gamepad and keyboard prompts. Entirely visual, restarting the game fixes it.
In-game frame limiter seems to not work right. It hovers around 57 FPS even in the main menu where nothing is being rendered.
Game works well with Proton Experimental, FMVs run fine. The only performance change that needs to be made is shadows being dropped to low, which barely seems to affect visual quality, as the shadows are still quite high-res. This allows the game to run at 60 FPS: however, a further problem crops up, that being the in-game frame limiter not working well, leading to very odd frametimes. It seems to have nothing to do with demand on hardware, as this happens even on the main menu, when nothing is being rendered, with the game constantly hovering around 57-58 FPS no matter what. This makes the game feel much less smooth than it should be, and changing any settings does nothing to fix this. This is further compounded by the fact that the game will start duplicating old frames onto the screen to create an awful stuttering feeling, which is especially pronounced if you force the game to run under 60 FPS. This may just be an issue with the game itself and not Proton, as I have not tried to run it under Windows yet.
WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 gamemoderun %command%
Occationally the start screen flickers, then i restart the game and the problem is gone. No idea what causes it.
Aside from the ocational (Rare) screen flickering which resolves after restart of the game the game it self runs great.
the videos have no audio

Forcing the game to use the latest experimental build of Proton allows the opening FMV to work correctly.
In addition to some minor modifications to the back buttons and touchpads in the Steam controller config, I also changed some button assignments in the game's built-in control configuration on the settings menu.
My cloud saves briefly stopped syncing; my Steam Deck had no save data and the game said it was storing 0 kb on the cloud. I don't know if this was Proton's fault or not.
Loading my save from my desktop PC (where it was still safe and sound), saving the game to "update" the save data, and exiting the game forced it to re-sync to the cloud.
Shadows seem to greatly affect framerate.
If the shadow quality is set to low and shadow distance to near, the game will consistently get about ~57-60 fps at 1280x720, even with all other settings maxed out (texture quality on high, LOD set to far, AA and AF enabled, etc.)
Increasing shadow quality or distance to medium will immediately cause the framerate to drop to about 35fps, and worse if set to high.
The game runs well on Proton Stable 7.0-2, but the FMV videos will not play. The latest experimental build of Proton fixes the FMV issues.
Regardless of the Proton version, be sure to set shadow quality to "low" and shadow distance to "near", as shadows seem to tank the framerate. All other settings can be maxed out at 1280x720 (the game does not support 1280x800.)
In-game UI hints appear very small. I could read them without issues, but I could see it being difficult for some people.
Opening FMV cutscenes don't have audio. Not sure about other videos.
Mouse input via trackpads/gyro is a bit jittery at default settings. Turn down mouse sensitivity in-game and adjust sensitivity in steam input to fix it.
Game runs great without additional tinkering

Aside from the semi-frequent crashes (which I'm not even sure is specific to Proton) the game is plug and play. It just works.
Crashes once every few hours. Save frequently and you're fine.
If you want cutscenes this game is currently unplayable.
Game crashes when FMVs play
Update Proton-6.8-GE-2 Work without issue after a year Proton-6.8-GE-2 100% fix issue sound
Slight FPS decrease over running on Windows but nothing crazy.
Crashes every couple of hours so catastrophically that I have to restart my computer via the power button. Save frequently!
I couldn't load my old save. It would begin to load and then return to the save select screen. Luckily the autosave loaded fine.
At first I just had a black screen when loading into the game but after disabling videos in the config everything seems to work fine.
With the latest fixes now playable including audio! The only thing not working is movies which must be disable to get the main menu to work.
Higher graphics settings have a performance hit in game (menu performance is unchanged). I find it best to just stick with the games default graphics settings
Players must launch the configuration tool and disable movies for the game to function!

With the latest Proton 5.13 release that includes the Audio 0.20.09 patch that fixes the audio issue, the game works flawlessly.
This game is pretty buggy with some of the quests - though that has nothing to do with Proton itself and everything to do with the programming of the game as these issues are experienced on every version of the game - console and PC.
Some people have reported that "movies" don't work, but I have them disabled anyway in the launcher settings, so I have no idea if this is true or not. Either way, "movies" don't seem to be an integral part of the game as I haven't come across any sections of the game that seems to have them in my ~30 hours of playtime.
Game works really well with the proton 5.0.9 but doesn't have sound :(

Audio is broke
Black screen instead of game after finishing ship tutorial. When launching game after after finishing tutorial, menu was also a black screen. Had to turn off Movies in Configuration menu before I could play more.

Broken sound and black screen.
Constant static noise. Cursor is visible and it showed the loading icon at the beginning, but it never got to the main menu.
In order to get sound working, you can use proton-tkg https://github.com/Frogging-Family/wine-tkg-git/releases and then, install xact_x64 into the game's prefix via winetricks. After that, uninstall your faudio and lib32-faudio packages (if you are on Arch or Arch based, that is), because otherwise the game will still use faudio and sound will break, and it should work like a charm.

The game works fine with Proton 5.0-9 except for the audio. I played for about 10 minutes to test things out and it ran well.
Audio doesn't play at all besides a constant white noise / static.
