Works great but built-in frame limiter seems to work incorrectly (possibly an issue with the game itself).
Sometimes old frames will flicker onto the screen. This especially is noticeable the further the framerate dips below 60.
Sometimes the input prompts would flicker between gamepad and keyboard prompts. Entirely visual, restarting the game fixes it.
In-game frame limiter seems to not work right. It hovers around 57 FPS even in the main menu where nothing is being rendered.
Game works well with Proton Experimental, FMVs run fine. The only performance change that needs to be made is shadows being dropped to low, which barely seems to affect visual quality, as the shadows are still quite high-res. This allows the game to run at 60 FPS: however, a further problem crops up, that being the in-game frame limiter not working well, leading to very odd frametimes. It seems to have nothing to do with demand on hardware, as this happens even on the main menu, when nothing is being rendered, with the game constantly hovering around 57-58 FPS no matter what. This makes the game feel much less smooth than it should be, and changing any settings does nothing to fix this. This is further compounded by the fact that the game will start duplicating old frames onto the screen to create an awful stuttering feeling, which is especially pronounced if you force the game to run under 60 FPS. This may just be an issue with the game itself and not Proton, as I have not tried to run it under Windows yet.
Runs excellently. However, blade mode did not work with default control scheme, and its controls were unorthodox.
Massively changed how the overall controls worked to suit my preference.
Steam Cloud seems to be broken when transferring a save from Windows 10. Even tried putting the save in manually and it still didn't work. Ended up having to make a new save.
The default control scheme had attacks bound to the triggers, and blade mode was bound to L5, but wasn't working. I had to change the controls to fit what I needed. Ended up going with the vanilla configuration, but with the trackpads being things like turbo for QTEs, and the back buttons having button combos for Ripper mode and dodge, as well as L4 being bound to left-stick click for movement during blade mode. Aside from the default control scheme being seemingly broken, the game ran perfectly. Also, the steam cloud system didn't work with transferring a save from a Windows 10 laptop, but I've read this is an issue with Windows 10 and non-Windows 10 installs specifically. It seems to just be a weird quirk with the game and not related to Proton.
Tried Proton-GE but no dice on fixing video; used Nioh Resolution mod on PC and moved the patched .exe over.
Pre-rendered videos do not work.
Pre-rendered videos do not work, not even with Proton-GE. Game runs at a decent 60 FPS with medium resolution and medium shadows, with AO off, but this doesn't enable FSR, causing the game to look poor at 540p. The game does not support running the main resolution lower than 720p, so I had to use the Nioh Resolution mod on the .exe on a PC, and then put it in the folder; I set it to 700p and used a 0.77 rendering scale. This caused the Steam Deck's built-in FSR to kick in, and thus the game ended up looking much better while still running at 60 FPS. I'd really prefer an option to enable FSR even on games that are technically running at 720p for situations like this, since the rendering resolution was lower and the game did not have it built in. Pre-rendered video definitely needs to be fixed, but as I've already played this game I'm not too miffed about it, as only a few cutscenes don't work as a result, and I don't consider them to be important.
Works great but needs a little tinkering for resolution and zoom. Suspend sometimes bugs game audio.
Changed the game scale so that it's not so zoomed in with full screen
When resuming from suspend, sometimes the audio crackles or goes haywire.
Full screen was incredibly zoomed in, and windowed was not full 720P.
Runs excellently, the only issues I've had were that the default settings do not run at a full 720p, and when you change it to full screen, it is incredibly zoomed in, but does run at 720P. You have to go into the game's configuration files to change the zoom scale to be lower. Once that is done, the game runs flawlessly, the only issue is that sometimes the audio will bug out after suspending the steam deck. As others have mentioned, only run this in proton for the time being, but it seems to run flawlessly in proton.
Mod Browser does not work, mod installs fail. Mono installation required, apparently, but could not get that working properly on Steam Deck.
Mod Browser is not working. Mono needs to be properly installed, but I couldn't get it to work via terminal.
