30FPS capped from the Quick Access Menu.
Ubisoft manages cloud saving instead of Steam. Meaning if Ubisoft Connect fails to sync your save then it isn't cloud saved at all. You'll have to start the game again, perform anything that will cause a save and exit the game. Forcing the Ubisoft Connect launcher to close after a game has been closed also doesn't fix the issue and the Steam spinning logo never stops upon quitting the game. Aborting the game due to that issue is mandatary.
Cloud saving is done by the Ubisoft Connect launcher so it isn't as seamless as you would expect it to be.
Playing through the entire game, I have gotten stuck in a wall twice and my target has spawned under the level once. Reloading the last checkpoint fixes that.
Co-op works as intended and no issues accrued.
Played through the entire game from start to finish and it still shocks me that the Steam Deck can handle this game so well considering the amount of NPCs on screen.
Can be enjoyed without tinkering. Shadows must be set to Off otherwise. Everything else can be maxed out. 40 FPS at best.
Using https://github.com/doitsujin/atelier-sync-fix/releases to drastically improve performance. Just drag and drop the dll file to the local directory of the game where the exe is. That's it. No commands required to activate the dll file.
Enabled Controller in the game launcher to avoid using Keyboard and Mouse controls entirely.
No audio problems but I used 5.1 in the game launcher for a better audio experience with headsets on.
dll fix must be applied. Without the dll fix, the Shadows drastically impact performance and still do even after the fix but you gain up to 20 extra frames a second at best from the fix.
With the dll fix you can max out the game entirely except Shadows. Shadows on Low provides 40+FPS hitting 40 most of the time , Shadows on Off provides 50+FPS hitting 60 most of the time. Guide to claim unobtainable DLC for free with no downloads: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2491732877
There is no option for 1280x800 so it automatically selects 1024x576, locks that option and stretches it out of bounds in fullscreen. Borderless does the same and the only way to have the game fit the screen correctly is to choose Windowed 1280x720.
Huge frame drops/ slow down when any moderate amount of action is going on. Can drop down to 17FPS or lower
Crashed once during my playthrough of the 6 chapters. The game froze and a Fatal Error message popped up.
Some audio cuts during the Loading Screens. Enable Subtitles to read the cut dialog
Using GE-Proton8-25 gave me MAJOR stutters in the Campaign so use the default Proton version which Steam recommends and you'll have 0 stutters. Multiplayer has the same issues on both ends so use GE-Proton8-25 in everything else except the Campaign and use the launch option RADV_PERFTEST=gpl %command%. People claim this Launch Option solves the stutter but it did not for me. Still stutters but slightly shorter maybe. Once you play on the same map a few times, the stutters will go away entirely
Regular online MP matches and Extinction played flawlessly. Shader stutter is there but goes away after you've been on that map a couple of times
Solid 60FPS with maxed out graphics. Left Anti-Aliasing on off and Fur on off. Anti-Aliasing does impact performance but idk about the Fur part
In-game switched aiming from toggle to hold
The game is capped to 30FPS in-game and 45FPS in the main menu. This does not happen on Windows
The servers were down at the time of my testing
The game on PC does not have native controller support. Not sure if there are mods that could enable it but the community controller layout was pretty solid for me and I had fun regardless. The game also doesn't have bots for regular MP matches if you decide to play offline alone but Spec-Ops will fill that void and it is incredibly fun alone or co-op
Twitching the camera real fast on Off Shore during Survival clearly shows assets loading in
Using a GTX1060. DRM problems cap the game to 30 FPS and prevent you from playing Spec-Ops online and in private
The game froze when I tried to configure the in-game Options. Stopped freezing after a system reboot
Spec-Ops online is entirely blocked off on Linux and says that the servers are down when they are not since it works perfectly fine on Windows. Regular Multiplayer works just fine on the other hand
If you can deal with a 30 FPS cap in the Campaign and Spec-Ops and on top of that have no online access with Spec-Ops, you'll be fine I guess. Regular Multiplayer works just fine though
You must enable controller support through a console command in-game. Enable the Console option from the options in the main menu of the game, press Steam+X to bring up the keyboard, press ~ type in exec default_controller.cfg and press enter. The console doesn't close even if you press ~ so you have to force close the game with Steam+B and open the game again. Menu navigation does not have controller support so navigate using your preferred method of mouse navigation. Do NOT start mapping the controller in the options in-game. This will give you the gamepad icons but it will break the possibility of using the same button for multiple actions with a controller
Regular game bugs such as the player getting stuck or NPCs getting stuck which stops the mission from progressing. You can solve these by restarting the mission
Once you enable controller support, you're good to go. Zombies works flawlessly too
The game mode Babel works in Single. VSYNC on Off makes the cinematics stutters so it must be set to On. Display Mode always gets reset back to Borderless after restarting the game, you must use the Recommended Official Controller Layout for the game to recognize any input and the game might crash at any time. Stuck after choosing New Game but it works when choosing Load Game. When you progress further into the game, you get stuck on a different Loading Screen anyways so you can't play any further.
30FPS Cap
Anything below FSR Ultra looks poor
Minor graphical artifacts due to FSR being enabled in-game.
Play with the Graphic Settings around to adjust the performance of the game where it would suit you best.
Not only does FSR introduce even more visual downgrades on top of low poly 3D models, low textures, low render distance and other graphical artifacts but some graphical settings are now entirely greyed out.
Switching between the Deck and a Windows PC, the Continue function does not appear. Manual saves are the only workaround.
Increase the font size and the subtitle font size if you're having difficulty to read the text
Don't go in expecting neither 60, 40 or even stable 30 FPS. Terribly optimized. Upscaling is mandatory if you wish to keep 30 FPS in most areas. SSAO downgrades the shadows so you'll have to be using SSGI. Film grain and chromatic aberration makes the image too blurry on the small screen so turn those off for a clear image.
You must be using a powerful machine to enjoy playing this title.
30FPS Cap
The game does stutter from time to time later on in the game. I suspect shaders not being fully pre-cached prior.
Do not enable co-op mode. This assigns the 1st player for keyboard and mouse inputs
Vibration feedback is very random and wrong
GE-Proton 7-31 freezes on boot during the intro so you must use GE-Proton 7-29. Playing with Steams default Proton skips all sorts of video playback or just shows nothing while the voice plays in the background. Proton Experimental just crashes.
Using GE-Proton is a must on the Steam Deck cause otherwise the game simply won't pass the boot screen
Quick Access - Performance - Advanced View - Framerate Limit 30
GE-Proton is required
30FPS Cap. The game is programmed to run at 30FPS in-game anyways.
Caches shaders so expect the game to stutter from time to time.
Press the Gear icon on the right side of the Play button - Properties - General - Game Resolution 1920x1080 and tick the "Set resolution for internal and external display". Once in game go to Settings - Video and choose 1920x1080 as the resolution and choose Pixel Perfect rather than Stretched. This way most of the screen will be covered as this is a 16:9 aspect ratio instead of a 16:10 that the Steam Deck uses BUT at least you will have pixel perfect graphics on your entire screen.
The game demands a true 16:9 screen. Setting a custom resolution of 1920x1080 to get pixels properly scaled with the Pixel Perfect option does not work. Using a custom 1280x720 does not trick the game that you're using a 16:9 screen either and gives you black bars unless you use the Stretch/Fit option which ruins the pixel scaling. Using Nearest for scaling in the Quick Access menu above 1280x800 does work and clean things up but pixels are still not scaled properly.
The DPAD has a ton of input delay and using the Analog Stick to navigate is mandatory.
The game was somehow forced to be capped at 30FPS on the Deck regardless of what you do which is not the case on a Windows PC for example. The game barely scrapes the hardware and manages to drop below 30FPS constantly.
Constant frame drops below 30
Game starts in Fullscreen and stretches the game to fit the screen. Choose Windowed. You will have black bars but the game won't be a stretched mess.
The game does NOT have Steam Cloud Saving so switching between the Steam Deck and any other machine that uses your account, will not use the same save data.
Slowdown during particular stages or just randomly
Game assets were designed for 720p so playing on a 1080p screen or anything higher will actually downgrade the visuals.
30FPS Cap. The Steam Deck CAN run the game at 60FPS just fine but you would want to play something like this for a longer period of time.
Honestly it looks stunning and really graphically impressive.
30FPS Cap
Set the Graphical Settings to Automatic and cap the game to 30FPS in the Quick Access Menu ONLY.
GE-Proton is required to avoid crashes and Autolog disconnection
30FPS Cap
Shaders have not been pre-cached so you will stutter a LOT when you first start playing.
30FPS Cap. The game is programmed to run at 30FPS only anyways.
You begin playing online instantly if you start the game with an active internet connection.
You can get into the game by mashing the A button to skip all the intros
30FPS cap with 60Hz
Blurry characters can be slightly fixed by disabling the Bloom Effect in the Graphics menu in-game
The pre-shader cache compilation tool does not work so the game has to compile all the shaders one by one while you play, resulting in a lot of stutter. Stutter does decrease over time
The pre-shader cache compilation tool does not start/function both in-game and pre-game
Settings In-Game:
- 1280x720
- Full-Screen Mode set to ON
- Field of Vision set to 55
- Maximum Framerate set to 30FPS
- VSYNC set to OFF
- Prioritize Image Quality
- 3D Graphics Resolution set to 100
- Anti Aliasing set to High
- Texture Filtering set to High
- Shadow Quality set to High
- Model LOD set to High
- Environment/ Background Quality set to High
- Fog Quality set to High
- Screen Space Reflection set to ON
- Bloom Effect set to OFF
- Character Texture Quality set to High
- Ambient Occlusion set to ON
Settings Steam Deck:
- 30FPS at 60Hz
- Half Rate Shading disabled
- Thermal Power Limit disabled
- Manual GPU Clock Control disabled
- Scaling Filter set to Linear
Notes: All shader compilation will be done in-game rather than pre-game so major stutter and freezes are expected. These will smoothen out over time. My suggested settings will perform best once the shaders have been compiled and the 30FPS cap greatly reduces/ eliminates mini stutters
30FPS cap makes the game go from 25w to 14w at worst. All fan noise eliminated
Considering how small in scale this game looks in comparison to something like Horizon Zero Dawn, performance optimization should be worked on
Browsing Action Almanac will freeze/crash the game and media does not play
Media does not play
Settings In-Game
- Fullscreen
- 1280x800
- VSYNC disabled
- Preset set to Very High
- Framerate Limit set to Unlimited
Settings Steam Deck:
- FPS cap set to 30FPS with 60Hz
- Half Rate Shading disabled
- Manual GPU Clock Control disabled
- Scaling Filter on Linear
Notes: With these settings you would be getting 2 hours of battery life with the best possible visual settings with frame rate never dropping below 30 in single player or multiplayer. Do NOT try to achieve constant 60FPS as you would have to greatly sacrifice the visuals in exchange
Constant shader caching in the World Map. During actual gameplay it doesn't seem to occur
Media does not work
After watching the latest Digital Foundry video about this title, I now understand why the game felt sluggish and have completely changed my settings in-game to enhance my experience.
In-Game Settings:
- Custom Preset
- Ambient Occlusion set to High
- Particle Effects set to High
- Textures set to Very High
- Dynamic Shadows set to Medium (VERY IMPORTANT)
- Reflections set to Screen Space
- Anti-Aliasing set to Very High
- Render Quality set to 100%
- Additional Effect Lighting set to ON
- Enhanced Object Detail set to ON
- Additional Scene Lighting set to ON
- Sackboy Fuzz set to ON
- Frame Limit set to 60 (VERY IMPORTANT)
Dynamic Shadows start adding ugly bright filters on top after Medium and drastically reduce performance.
Frame Limit at 60 actually makes the game feel like 60. You should watch the Digital Foundry video to understand how horrible Unlimited effects it at the time of this report.
Steam Deck Settings:
- Frame Limit 60FPS
- Refresh Rate 60Hz
- Half Rate Shading set to OFF
- Thermal Power (TDP) Limit set to OFF
- Manual GPU Clock Control set to OFF
- Scaling Filter set to Linear
With these settings the game will actually run at 60FPS with visuals almost on par with the PS5 version. Ray Tracing is not supported on the Steam Deck with this title at the time of this report
The title worked somewhat decently before getting Verified
I still have no idea why this game is Verified. All patches demand you reinstall the entire game then only to stop working.
There are some parts of the game where multiplayer would greatly improve your chances of progressing/winning. Multiplayer does not work here
30FPS Cap
Multiplayer does not function/work.
This works perfectly as a single player experience only as multiplayer does not work.

Audio cuts from time to time in town due to poor hardware utilization.
Assets were not designed for 800p or scaled terribly. Regardless of the in-game settings changed, you get pixelated 2D assets. Noticeable right from the main menu where the 2D art is terribly pixelated.
Terrible hardware utilization. So bad in fact that the Deck doesn't even need to use the fans to cool anything down. Below 40FPS in some areas of the main town even with the lowest possible graphical settings. These lowest settings make the PSVita version look good.
This does NOT deserve to be marked as Verified
The game wasn't designed with 16:10 in mind and will squish some parts. Playing at 720p is the way to go.
Latency could be improved but inaccuracy while doing combos has to be addressed.
Regardless of the settings it will always drop below 60FPS. In fact it actually never reaches 60FPS according to the game and will cap out at 59FPS. The game has major frame stutter issues and the controls are not responsive enough. Instead of reacting, you will be constantly predicting when doing online matches. Probably the worst Tekken 7 experience at the moment.
Would disconnect from time to time and the signal to the other player is never strong enough.
Broken in-game FPS limiter. Spikes hardware usage and destroys frame timing
DX12 at solid 30FPS. Do not try going above 30FPS in DX12 as that introduces instability with these settings.

Edit to uiVerticalFrameScale=1.1253 for the UI to properly scale for the 16:10 screen. The mini map and other UI elements will now touch the corners as they should be in the first place.
Steam Input icons are always shown instead and they do not show L or R on the analog stick icon.
The Sharpness slider in the graphics menu may break when touching it in DX11 and will never turn off. Once turned off it will revert back to Low. You must delete user.settings and dx12user.settings to have it turned off.
This report is a follow up to my previous report to build upon my DX12 setup.
Machines with a Pentium 4 on Windows can run this just fine so I was shocked to find out that the game dips to 40FPS or slightly lower from 60FPS when a lot is happening on screen.
Multiplayer does work but you need to create and bind your Runic Games account with your Steam account. Really disappointed that they didn't just port the controller controls used in the Nintendo Switch version. So you'll be stuck with clunky controls.
30FPS Cap. Makes the Steam Deck a lot more quiet too.
Input latency does become noticeable.
The game is fun but it is missing most if not all basic multiplayer functions. You can't do or share the same quest and nor can you trade at all. Luckily the loot is independent so your buddy can't just spam the pick up button to take it all away from you.
The game feels incredible when it works but the frequent and random crashes might not be for everyone.
Hair is a little glitchy during intros but is fine during gameplay
Due to VERY frequent crashes, Steam might start failing to upload the save. Don't panic since the save is saved locally and it will fix the upload issue as you keep playing the game.
This is a crash fest. Regardless of what settings you choose, it will crash. When ? Whenever it feels like it. It can crash during boot 5 times in a row and then work just fine. It could crash when you're looking through the menus and pretty much anywhere you can think of.
The game doesn't regognize the screens refresh rate and will show a string of 6 random digits endlessly. 60FPS cap still works though so there's no need to panic about this one.
Graphically very impressive and not very demanding to run either. The benchmark results show 132FPS on average.
Considering hair is now rendered entirely rather than partially, leads me to believe that the shadows not rendering properly during cinematics is also part of the problem.
If you exit a match, you can clearly see a 720p transition being played on top of the 800p game.
The game is never demanding enough to ramp up the speeds of the fans, so my conclusion is that it isn't utilizing the hardware well at all.
The game has to be played offline entirely to stop the crashes. Not sure what causes the crashes when you start the game while you are connected to the internet but to avoid all the crashing, you must set the Steam Deck to Offline Mode.
Playing this on SteamOS with Offline Mode enabled is the only way to currently play this on the Steam Deck. Windows 11 performs far worse and even using the -sharedvram launch command does not fix it. Not sure if this is a DX12 issue but the Steam Decks hardware does not seem to be utilized well at all.
With SteamOS in Offline Mode, you can entirely max out the Graphics Settings for 1v1 matches, 8v8 matches can only run well at stable 60FPS with the lowest possible Graphics Settings. The game cannot be played in 30FPS. Forcing 30FPS will result the game running in slow motion.
Linux only gets a single player or couch co-op experience. Random online lobbies do NOT work
While it connects online, you are unable to play a single lobby with randoms and it will disconnect right when the match starts
Do not use VSYNC as the game doesn't properly detect the screens refresh rate. Once VSYNC is OFF, the game will play at normal speed at all times.
Graphics quality doesn't seem to actually change the graphics but rather the rendering resolution. Low with AA set to Low and DoF set to OFF barely looks any different. Everything else should be maxed out though. This way you keep a steady 60FPS. You can further tweak settings using this guide https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1313703067
