Framerate drops

Framerate often stutters with low-end GPU. Manually editing the config files is needed for smooth framerate.
In drive_c/users/(username)/Saved Games/TangoGameworks/GhostWire Tokyo (EGS)/Saved/Config
, there are two config files: Engine.ini
& GameUserSettings.ini
.
Open Engine.ini
. You'll see the label [Core.System]
. Under it, there are many variables. You're gonna write your own label & variables. Be sure none of them mix with [Core.System]
. At the end of the config file, press Enter twice, & add these lines of text which force-enable fog:
[SystemSettings]
r.VolumetricFog=1
r.Fog=1
Then, open GameUserSettings.ini
. Scroll down till you see the label [ScalabilityGroups]
. Make sure the variables under it look like this:
sg.ResolutionQuality=100.000000
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=2
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=2
sg.ShadowQuality=1
sg.PostProcessQuality=2
sg.TextureQuality=2
sg.EffectsQuality=2
sg.FoliageQuality=2
sg.ShadingQuality=2
When ShadowQuality
< 3, fog is disabled. Fog is important in this game, so that's why we force-enable it.
Rarely, the audio may crack for a bit.
Minor ghosting can be seen sometimes, especially when the leaves of plants move or when reflections move.
The framerate often stutters.
By default, many of the graphics options are maxed out & can't be changed in-game. They can only be changed in the config files.

Unable to progress the game past entering Mari's room otherwise the game worked fine. Probably something to do with cut-scenes
Game consistently hangs when entering Mari's room at the hospital

Got the game free with Epic Games. Using the latest version of wine from the Wine Manager on Heroic Launcher fixed the issues I was having. Been playing for three hours as of this report and no issues so far.

VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr PROTON_USE_VKD3D=1 gamemoderun %command% -dx12
Fixed with setting Movie Display Mode to performance
Heavy mouse stuttering on wayland without launch arguments
Runs perfectly

Not a linux issue, but cutscenes on PC can get out of sync with audio. Make sure you select "performance" for the Movie Display Mode setting if you have this issue. It's related to rendering at 1080p or 4k I guess, so if you're in the middle with 1440p it'll desync.
Proton GE was causing the game to lockup on cutscenes, switching to 9.X Proton Experimental worked.
Main problem was the cutscene issue, which was not linux specific.

-dx11
Trying to launch would consistantly hard crash my deck until I forced it to launch in dx11 mode. Scary!

ENABLE_VKBASALT=1 %command%
The game was very blurry, so I set casSharpness to 0.5 in vkBasalt.conf, in the game directory
Blurry
Can't open the inventory with my DualSense, I need to use the keyboard
Can be played without launch options

Slight slowdowns during graphically heavy scenes, and I had to play docked to get much battery life out of it, but it worked perfectly otherwise. Not sure what the issues were in the past; maybe updates have been done?

On PC open RT,the game will crash on steam deck,you must close RT
除了不會自動適配降設定以至於在電腦高畫質遊玩會原封不動同步設定讓steamdeck無法啟動遊戲外其他還行

Anyone can help me? I tried doing the proton experimental but nothing worked. I even tried adjusting the resolution beforehand but it still crashes. It plays the initial animation for the studios then it gets stuck at the text with various languages. I end up having to force restart my Steam Deck when in gaming mode. When I open it in desktop mode, I get this error: LowLevelFatalError [File:Unknown] [Line: 1209] GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 120.00 secs

Performance is so poor that the resolution scaling required results in a grainy pixelated mess when there is text. It is pretty hit or miss whether it's going to be legible.
Due to needing to run at extremely low internal resolution, every frame is full of upscaling artefacts
Significant stuttering, and slowdown which can put the audio out of sync with what is happening on screen, not to mention the wild fluctuations in framerate that swing from 30 all the way down to single digits
The addition of denuvo over a year after this game was released appears to have completely destroyed the Steam Deck's ability to run the game. How well it ran before is unclear, but it was certainly not as poorly as it does now, given that some people at least were able to get a relatively stable double digit framerate on their Steam Deck.
-novid -high -freq 144
Finished game without issues
Works perfectly

Motion blur makes some effects look pixelated, turning it off fixes it.
Raytracing not running very well, gives very poor performace when on.
The game needs vcruntime to run, if it doesn't install it when you launch it for the first time, then use winetricksgui on heroic launchers to install it.

GE-Proton8-4, GE-Proton8-24 give a black screen after selecting "New Game"

Using normal and experimental proton the game crashes on startup. GE Proton made it work fine

Built in DRM doesnt let me launch the game
Built in DRM doesnt let me launch the game and tells me to go to this site to troubleshoot https://support.codefusion.technology/anti-tamper/?e=88500006&l=english&s=at The game launched before the DRM started working incorrectly,but when i launched the game the screen went black and i only heard sounds

Ran via heroic, wine GE fails to play intro movie on new game, switched to proton experimental and works perfectly

gamemoderun %command%
The audio intermitently crackles and goes mute and is especially worse in cutscenes.
On Wayland, I can't ALT+TAB out of the game and I actually have to exploit the fact I use a drop-down terminal (Yakuake) in order to hackily escape the game window.
If using a PS4 controller, enabling Steam Input is required for the controller to function. Additionally, the left bumper/L1 was bound to the D-pad, for some reason, in Steam Input.
Going into the subway for the first time resulted in an infinite loading screen. This sequence is required to progress the game. Relaunching the game and loading an autosave to try again worked but this was annoying.
Ideally, none of these issues should be present; particularly the infinite loading screen and frequent audio issues.
Played from start to finish on Linux, including the expansion and it just works without issues.

gamemoderun PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr,dxr11 %command%
It's hard to get the quality/performance ratio right, but it seems to be the same under Windows. Apart from that, everything works flawlessly.

Increase the font size and the subtitle font size if you're having difficulty to read the text
Don't go in expecting neither 60, 40 or even stable 30 FPS. Terribly optimized. Upscaling is mandatory if you wish to keep 30 FPS in most areas. SSAO downgrades the shadows so you'll have to be using SSGI. Film grain and chromatic aberration makes the image too blurry on the small screen so turn those off for a clear image.
You must be using a powerful machine to enjoy playing this title.

Works perfectly with Heroic Games Launcher using Proton Experimental. No other setting needed. Cloud saves also works pretty nice.
Everything works fine both on PC and on the Steam deck using Proton Experimental. Game works like native, no craches, no audio issues, no artifacts or glitches. Playing already for 7h and not a single crash.

HeroicGamesLauncher: able to see menu, then black screen. Lutris is even worse, it crashes on startup
Heroic: After starting the game, the screen goes black but I can hear sounds (fire crackling, announcements in Japanese). Tried different versions of Proton (installed via HeroicGamesLauncher or ProtonUp-qt), nothing helps.

Stuck on "Launching"
Was able to install fine but when I press the play button it's just endlessly stuck saying "Launching". Probably the steam client not being able to verify something or not being able to find some files idk. I tried verifying the integrity of the files in the properties menu but it was just stuck on something like "resetting install script" or similar.
Most other games launch fine though. e.g. Little Nightmares I'm getting flawless performance. But the issue does persist over a few other titles. So far I've experienced it with this game and Resident Evil 7. Both the exact same issue.
Probably worth mentioning... I'm running Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon. My GPU Driver is the Nvidia proprietary driver v.535 running a GTX 1660Ti in an MSI Laptop (Model: GL65 9SD). Prime profile is set to force using the Nvidia card.

When using Experimental, got black screen on main menu. No issues on 7.0-6

gamemoderun %command%
It was only in the very final cutscene of the game, the video was delayed by a few seconds.
Infrequent crashes, freezes and slow downs.

Consistent stuttering at a 30 fps cap.
I've already completed the game on PC, so my testing was done with an end game file. The game does not maintain a 33.3ms delivery for any stretch of time. I tested with the default Proton, Proton Experimental, and Proton GE 8-11, all at the lowest possible settings with TSR, FSR 2, and XeSS upscalers. No combination of settings gave a stable frame delivery.

Pretty much all readable, but some elements were small
A bit rough in places but mostly fine.

Seemed a little under performing
Sometimes on boot and showing its logos and warnings (before main menu is shown) it would complain about being out of VRAM, however normally it would be fine just needing me to retry once or twice, when you get to main menu you seem to be good.
Works OK once you get the as noted VRAM warning that sometimes appears on start. The performance seemed a little below par or inconsistent but remains playable
