Steam launches Ubisoft Connect, game crashes instantly after clicking continue in the launcher.
Tried multiple Proton versions. Someone said the UPlay overlay causes CTD, but the new Connect dung doesn't even let you into the settings. Thanks Ubisoft.
ACC is a racing sim. If you can't get a wheel working, there's no point playing it.
Cutscenes not playing
Thrustmaster T150 not working. Wheel has a huge deadzone right in the middle and T3PA pedals not working. All buttons were mappable though.
Saves don't transfer via Steam Cloud.
Very laggy menus
For Logitech wheels, you should look into "Oversteer". They have an AUR package. If you're on a non-Arch based distro, Google.
Some Thrustmaster wheels can possibly be used via "tmdrv". Google.
Fanatec has no linux support.
You have to disable DX12 in the launcher else it won't run at all.
GAMEMODERUNEXEC="env MANGOHUD=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1" gamemoderun %command% -nostartupmovies -nosplash
Not a Proton issue, but sometimes certain sounds completely cut out (no gun effects, voice, etc). If you're not facing the sound source, like a character talking, they'll be very quiet. You can use the "mono" preset in the game's audio settings, it sucks but at least it works.
Neither one of these issues is Proton related.
Some gun sprites are blacked out on the inventory screen.
Sometimes the game drops GPU usage to around 30-40%, which causes the fps to drop as well. Reloading from Main Menu fixes that. Loading a map causes massive stutter for a couple of seconds. Setting the Texture streaming in the game options to Ultra somewhat alleviates it. Not Proton related.
gamemoderun %command% -nostartupmovies -nosplash
Running in DX11. Was really struggling with a 3GB 1060.
gamemoderun %command% -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
Runs about as well as you'd expect a UE5 game to run.
GAMEMODERUNEXEC="env MANGOHUD=1" gamemoderun %command%
Dualshock 3 not recognized. Gotta change the configuration in Steam settings.
Game runs at 26-30 fps. It's 50-60 in a Windows KVM. 1280x720 gives me around the Windows performance on Proton..
Game sometimes won't launch after the EAC splash.
MANGOHUD_CONFIG=fps_limit=75 mangohud %command%
Initially the launcher would be unclickable, after restarting the game from Steam multiple times, an ad for HW3 randomly popped up and the launcher started working.
Launcher issues aside, the game easily runs at 300+ fps. The in-game vsync introduces crazy mouse input lag, so you might want to use libstrangle or mangohud's fps limiter instead, as to not unnecessarily cook your GPU.
gamemoderun %command%
Sometimes the dialogue is either extremely quiet, or Henry's voice keeps panning around like crazy. Haven't tried on Windows, might be a game thing.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Don't forget to enable DX12 in game settings. Stable 60fps.Drops to mid30s in DX11.
Dragging windows on GNOME was very stuttery while game was running. Fixed with "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%"
STAGING_SHARED_MEMORY=1 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE=1 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SIZE=100000000000 %command%
I don't remember what the shared memory env var does, but the rest get rid of the constant recompiling of shaders on every launch. (Crashing during comp is very fun without these)
Game ran at 144 fps 1080p even on my old 1060. Can push around 250-270fps on my current 2070 now. LatencyFlex is no longer required on NoVideo cards, as the game (proton?) let's you enable Nvidia Reflex now.
Game runs at 12 fps near islands. ONLY with shadows turned on. With them off it stays at a 90fps cap from the settings.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Main Menu has no background, just UI. Non issue
GAMEMODERUNEXEC="MANGOHUD=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1" gamemoderun %command% -noprefetch -nointro
disabled fullscreen in "gamefolder/appdata/user.ltx", otherwise it would launch with a black screen
Game just grabs the mouse and won't let go no matter what. Using bspwm. Also keeps switching to another monitor whenever i enter or exit menus.
Limit your fps to something reasonable so your GPU doesn't burn with the 300+ fps the game normally gives you. Limited to 75 fps, same as refresh rate, and GPU usage went from 85% to 25%.
No audio with Eggroll's 5.9 Proton. Works fine on 5.13
Had to turn off "shadow maps" to get smooth 60fps. Would hover at around 30-40 otherwise.
Windows build runs at 2x speed on my PC. Native Linux port doesn't run at all. (Comes up with some "Ubuntu" error.) Proton with D9VK is running at 50-60fps with no issues. For me, this is the only way to play this game.
I'd say this is still a pretty enjoyable experience. Proton wise.
Water in the lake flickers and so does the lamp in the babysitting house.
From High settings 50-60fps on Windows, down to Low at 50fps.
Only managed to make it work with 4.11
stuttery camera movement even with 70 fps
Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST GloriousEggroll
One part of the game has you watch a CRT TV. The TV emits light but the screen is black.
The framerate would consistently drop lower and lower. Going back to the menu would "reset" it back to 60. Tried 5.13 and 5.0. Settled on 5.9-GE because some people here said it would fix one scene. Which it didn't anyways.
EAC won't let the game run.
mangohud gamemoderun %command%
Judging by the other reviews here, it seems to be working for a lot of people. But it isn't for me, personally. Never seen such an issue.
Insane fps drops only when moving the mouse on multiple versions of Proton, from 4.2-9 all the way up to 5.9-GE-6-ST. Tried with both PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% on and off.
Was able to finish the game without issues
GAMEMODERUNEXEC="DXVK_ASYNC=1 DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="1060" MANGOHUD=1" gamemoderun %command%
As usual, tabbing out of fullscreen soft crashes the game, black screen. BSPWM
1000Hz polling rate causes huge stutter. Known WINE bug with some UE games.
Significant input stutter with stable 60fps.
40-50fps difference between High and Medium preset. 14fps average on High. stable 50-60fps on Ultra under Windows 10.
