I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.
It's a difficult situation for proton, since the base game has some serious bugs.
For 5 minutes, the game worked fine, with good fps. After that, it started to draw graphical artifacts, and a minute later the whole game crashed.
The graphics bug...
Version 3.9, before 4.0 update. The does not able to start.
It crush even with these laaunch parameters: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% /nolauncher
Since v1.2, the game runs well under proton.
The intro movie is not working all the time. But it can be disabled in the settings.
Fatal error in both graphics mode during loading.
It crashes with Proton 6.3, Proton Experimental an Proton-GE 6.14-1
Origin is not really Linux friendly thing, but it is still able to launch the game.
Once in the settings, the selected item always went "up". But exiting to the main menu solved it.
When loading a previously un-visited area, there was shuttering. I think it is a shader generation thing in Mesa. I see the same thing in World War Z.
Other than that, the game runs perfectly at maximum settings in 1440P, using a Radeon RX5600XT
You'll never be better than commander Shepard :)
I have seen minor stuttering because of in-game shader comp. in newly visited areas, but that is not too bad. This was way worse before.
The game may not start at first, because of the installation of the Origin client.
The game is working fine as itself, but with STA3 mod, it crashes after minutes.
Character shadow is a bit strange on starship bridge. May not related to proton.
At first launch, texture loading was quite slow. But ever since then, texture loading is fine.
The default "On-demand Patching" is not working all the time. On the launcher go to options and uncheck on-demand patching. You may need to run a "Veryfy files" from there, in order to start downloading all of the files.
Specific launch options was not needed.
Works fine. I had no FPS problems while playing in 1440p resolution with most settings are on epic.
Since the last update, the launcher can't even download the game files. So I can't launch the game...
with proton 5.08, it can only start in windowed mode.
Just start it in 32bit mode, if there are no music in game. Everything else working fine!
In-game music works only in 32bit mode. But it is not a proton related issue, it'is also occure on Windows...
At the moment, the game only works with Proton 5.10... It did not work with newer proton versions (tested till Proton 6.3).
It works perfectly with proton 5.10
Except from the KDE panel overlapping problem, the game runs perfectly fine.
KDE's plasma panel is overlayed over the game. Can solve this by running the game in a window.
