Works perfectly through all routes and side content
Demo save data must be carried over manually. Will be located in [steamdir]/steamapps/compatdata/1690940/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/DELTARUNE
Ran flawlessly on Proton 9, 10, hotfix, and latest GE. Some users lacking the proper codecs may need to switch over to GE or Experimental in order to view the video cutscene in Chapter 3
Occasionally, when loading players and NPCs, shader compilation occurs and models will have a matte black/pure white texture until character data is rendered
when using XLCore, avoid using gamemode. I have noticed this would lead to crashes that would look like the window manager hung, manually killing the process in tty would resume the wm
the base proton version works fine, recommend the aforementioned compat tool personally, however
(AMDGPU ONLY) If your distro currently uses mesa version 25.0.0-25.0.2, use the flatpak version of XIVLauncher instead of as a compat tool, as these versions have a known bug that causes graphical artifacting in the lighting/shading engine. The latest git commits of mesa 25.1.0 have this issue fixed, so moving to that branch is an option if you know how
open zones tend to stutter a bit when loading on the fly, only super noticeable when playing at high framerates (90fps+)
opening cinematic with ifrit and phoenix sliding down a cave crawls whenever the camera pans upwards
loading times can feel a bit lengthy after vulkan shader compilation, but go away after the next boot of the game
While the game itself can be unstable, it's nothing you wouldn't experience on windows as well
gamemoderun %command% --use-d3d11
Occasional crashes during extraction on specific solo missions; could be related to a memory leak or quirk with my hardware
Fullscreen mode can cause occasional crashes on both dx12 and dx11, though they are extremely rare
6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Any type of video file (eg. opening cinematic) will fail to load properly on out of box proton, switch to latest GloriousEggroll to fix this issue
gamemoderun WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%
Game would not create the game window under wayland, had to launch the game once on X11 first to make it appear; works fine on wayland after the initial launch
Game appears to not launch/create game window on any proton outside experimental
New season appears to have borked everything
unset LD_PRELOAD; %command%
tested on experimental, 9.0, and ge. game will boot to the launcher, crashes immediately after startup
unset LD_PRELOAD; SteamDeck=1 %command%
characters load somewhat slower than normal, but overall game runs perfectly with no hitches or hiccups
Overall the game is generally stable, and rarely, if at all crashes due to a fault of proton
VKD3D_CONFIG=disable_uav_compression PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_NV_low_latency2 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1 %command%
Game runs overall fine, framerate is stable and hovers around the 50 fps mark on the "Quality" FSR3 preset. Oddly enough, switching around most settings does not appear to impact performance in any way, through a half-hour of tinkering I did not see the game passively go below 50fps, nor did I ever see it go above without enabling frame generation. For context, I have a framelimit enabled for specifically 60fps. Outside that, the only performance hitches I've encountered were very infrequent 1 second stutters while fighting monsters (probably shader generation,) and when switching between zones in expedition mode
The physics engine in the title screen's cutscene seems to not play nice with certain hairstyles. My game would often crash upon loading my character, where I would see their hair bug out, then cause the game to hang. Also had an illegal opcode error that crashed mesa after idling in pause mode for about 10 minutes. Have not been able to replicate this since
gamemoderun %command%
occasionally on the level results screen, the cursor would become disabled. fixed by scrolling the mousewheel a little
if you are experiencing performance issues out of the box, running with gamemode is highly recommended
gamemoderun %command%
The game refuses to set refresh rate to anything above 144hz, will have to run without vsync if you use a monitor with anything higher; this in turn also causes issues with any games ran alongside it, as they will be vsynced down to ~60hz
stutters frequently, though that's due to the game's netcode rather than a wine issue. mods also work online without any tinkering required
Game runs perfectly right out of the box
Switch Pro Controller's gyro doesn't work properly
Repentance+ has seemingly borked proton compatibility
gamemoderun %command%
before r+, the game ran perfectly fine, modded and all, on proton. with this release, however, the game will start to 1 of 2 results. either a blank window where the game's music will play but nothing will render, or steam will claim the game has opened while no window actually spawns
