Works perfectly
Didn't encounter any issues.

Runs Perfectly from begining to end!
All video playback issues from the past are now resolved with the current proton version at time of posting. Played from beginning to end, post end game content and then some with no issues. Almost consistent 120 FPS and no problems with mouse and keyboard as the input device which I might add worked perfectly with default bindings. The stage is set to save the sanctuary of mana!

Not quite able to reach a steady 90 FPS on Deck OLED, but 60 FPS works great and the game plays wonderfully.

no problems at all
switched between my gaming pc and the Steam Deck while playing, it ran well on both systems and I could play from start to finish without any issues.
Works good. But my DS4 Controller didn't work in defalut . If you use DS4 Controller, edit settings.Go to [Steam]→[Settings]→[Controller]→[EXTERNAL GAMEPAD SETTINGS]→[Playstation Controller Suppot] , and switch it to[Enabled]. It worked for me.
It works perfectly well
I didn't find any problem.
Akshully I installed arch btw and it justwerks(tm), no tweaks necessary. Just make sure you do not install xf86-video-intel drivers
it's true, it runs on arc
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
On intel arc, it can't load some textures and the lighting is messed up. I managed to finish the game on a Nvidia GPU though perfectly
Crashes after a couple minutes
Wait for drivers to improve
Cinematics were not playing at all.

Works with newer GE versions of Proton, gets past waterfall scene where Experimental still crashes.
Proton-6.21-GE-2 GloriousEggroll

6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
GloriousEggroll fork
Videos on out of box proton fail to load, running on latest GE fixes the issue

Works great out of the box, except for movies. Switching to Proton-6.14-GE-2 fixed the movies.
6.14-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Even though movies don't play, the audio during the movies do play and the movies tend to be short. It didn't really affect enjoyment.
By default, movies do not play.
It will occasionally just dump on you. I've never run it under Windows, so I cannot say if this is unique to Proton. Played ten hours, had two crashes. Given the frequency of save spots, it shouldn't be a huge issue... but save when able just in case.
I didn't have an audio desync or crackling problem. As others below have noted, certain [media foundation?] dlls need to be installed and there is a nice easy github script that Worked For Me™
Without it, you won't be able to continue once you get on the boat... or perhaps any time a movie file needs to play.
Despite the video issue and gamepad not working, the game runs perfectly. Note that It was a quick test run just to see.
Intro video is not properly appearing
I couldn't find a way to use my controller. It's an official DS4 pad from PS4. While the controller actually works, it's never detected by Trials of Mana, even if I check the DS4 box in the Steam gamepad options.

Proton-GE-6.8-2
Also tried the latest Proton-experimental and stable but the game locks up and hangs Wayland (Denuvo?) seconds into the initial load scren. The game was working fine fully playable earlier this year.
more support is needed. Run Proton experimental only.
In cutscenes a color image appears when the dialog is running in the background. In some moments the cutscene just stopped.
In cutscenes a color image appears when the dialog is running in the background. In some moments the cutscene just stopped. I run Proton experimental only for exit of black screens.

Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.1-GE-2
Hangs consistently on at least one point in the game
The game runs well in many versions of Proton, but GloriousEggroll's 6.1 version is the only one I can get to play videos. However, this version always hangs after meeting Charlotte for the first time. There may be other problem areas that I haven't gotten to.
You have to be willing to either switch Proton versions temporarily to get past this section, or forsake watching the videos.

Proton-6.5-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Gamepad support is terrible, but it's the same on Windows.

Broken gamepad support (which is widely documented, even under Windows). Crashes frequently.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 fixed it

Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Proton 6.1 GE and Gamemode

Works perfectly if you use the GE fork of Proton and the launch arguments mentioned to fix audio issues
Proton-6.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Stuttering audio can be fixed by adding PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 %command%
to the launch options
To be able to see videos, I had to use Proton 5.0 + mf-install. Otherwise it's either no videos, or crashes.
Needs PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 launch option.

It ran on my first gen i5 650 with GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost, so if that dinosaur could handle it, anything newer/better can.
Proton 5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
mf-install script didn't work properly, due to the prefix installation with Proton 5.13. (It messes with permissions) Once the prefix was renamed/removed and the game launched with 5.21-GE-1, it worked without need of mf-install. Avoid installing/launching with Proton 5.13 and this or previous methods should work.
Intro wouldn't properly play, would get stuck on/loading certain cutscenes.

Videos won't play, but otherwise game runs flawlessly out of the box.

Game works perfectly once mf-install is in, and the pulse audio latency launch option is added.
This is completely resolved with the Steam launch option provided by previous users: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 %COMMAND%
Unplug and plug your controller back in after the game is launched to be detected, works perfectly after this
The MediaFoundation fix from other users was required to get the game running well with cinematics, but is pretty trivial. Make sure you do it in the prefix for the Proton version you'll use with the game.
Download: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install To install(only needed once): WINEPREFIX=//steamapps/compatdata/1223730/pfx /home/salzi/Downloads/mf-install-master/install-mf.sh
Used Proton 5.0-10, 5.13 did not launch the game
Unplugging/replugging controller to have it be recognized affects every Windows game I've tried so far, so is not surprising. No responsiveness issues with controller once it is recognized.
Game does not start.

Seems like it's loading, then black screen
The game installs fine. When I try to run it, I get a black screen with bouncing rabites in the lower right that seems to be a "loading" screen. After several seconds, the rabites disappear and the screen just goes back. I never hear anything and it doesn't respond to any keyboard input after that.

Only crackles a little bit here and there.
Occasional microstuttering.
Opening cutscene hanged at black screen the first time, but worked the second.
Game does not have a built in vsync option, which may cause a good amount of tearing. Graphics are stretched on non 16:9 resolutions, with no options to instead add black bars. The game only supports a small number of pre-set resolutions. I could only select between 1280x720 and 1920x1080 on my system.
the Media Foundation DLL is needed otherwise the game will hang up displaying a black screen when your character will board the ship.
There is also an Issue with the new ryzen 3 processors. The game will crash as soon as you try to start it. In the system logs you'll see the message "SGDT instruction cannot be used by applications." There is a workaround however if you add "clearcpuid=514" to your boot options of your system the game should run again.
The facial animations are missing so the mouth and eyelids are not rendering properly and you can see inside their skulls in the menu and in the gameworld.
Nearly perfect but I have an issue with the faces not rendering properly
During animations parts of the Faces of the characters become invisible so that you can see the eyeballs, tongue and teeth.
Used following start option in Steam -->
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 %COMMAND%
(with this Crackling issue was solved for me)
Black screen and game seems to freeze while it was supposed to play a video.
After applied wineprefix Media Foundation like mentioned by user nomos video playback works flawless --> https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
commadline for my setup --> WINEPREFIX=/mnt/Games-1TB/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1223730/pfx /home/salzi/Downloads/mf-install-master/install-mf.sh
Game also works without any issues with the graphic tweaks posted on steam forums.
https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
After install the game runs great for me til first cutscene where black screen appears and the game freezes. After installation of the media foundation the game works flawlessly.
Work pretty well, but need Media Foundation install. More information at: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install

And sometimes a strange low noise.

Stuttering

Use mf-install from GitHub, and the game will run fine.
mf-install must be used, otherwise the game stucks with a black screen.
