Crashed using default Proton version, changed to Proton 8.0-5 and issues were solved.
Default proton version crashes at title screen
Absolutely flawless out of the box
Long load screen time, but otherwise flawless. No stuttering, absolutely great and stable framerate, rock solid with no crashing.
Crashes under Proton 6.3-7 and Experimental. Must set to run on Proton 5 in order to play
Ran fine, but load times are very long.
Very slow load times
Ran out of the box without tweaks. Didnt need to change anything, my xb1 controller was also detected and worked perfectly.
EAC.
No linux EAC support. Even missing the .so file. Cannot play online without EAC.
Worked flawlessly, amazing performance.
AMD Advantage Edition laptop note: had to set launch option DRI_PRIME=1
Lutris-GE-6.16-2 GloriousEggroll
Gnome dash kept popping up over fullscreen game, disabled setting in DashToDock gnome extension.
Enabled the beta DX11 option in GW2 graphics settings, got far better performance but this option is BETA and can cause some instability and crashes, though i didnt experience any in about 1.5 hours of WvW content.

Performs great until in combat, then it has really bad slowdown and input lag (tested in wvw, unknown if this happens in PVE)
WVW lags when in combat, low FPS and input lag of greater than 1 second in larger fights
Also tried newer and older Proton than what was recommended, no change to performance issues.
NOTE: GPU in my system is an AMD Radeon RX 6800M
Crashes after launch.
also tried GE and experimental
Tried multiple Proton versions including GE and Experimental, all instantly crash after launch.
Game works flawlessly out of the box, minor SD issue is easily fixed
On Steam Deck, right joystick loses focus after sleep
Had no issues on desktop, but SteamDeck right joystick stops responding when resuming from sleep mode.
TEMP FIX: press LB (left bumper/shoulder button, not the trigger) to open your weapon select menu and move the joystick, after releasing the button the camera will respond to the joystick input again
Had to use these flags to make game playable on Nvidia GPU instead of Intel iGPU: __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%
After using flags __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command% the game ran perfectly. These flags may have been needed due to me playing on a laptop with Nvidia Optimus. Without those flags, the game was playable only on the Intel iGPU and performed very poorly. Tested with Proton 6.3-6, played 90 minutes.
((To apply launch options, right click Kenshi in your Steam library and select Properties. Under the general tab, add your flags to the "Launch Options" area.))
Runs 100% out of the box, no longer need any flags with newest proton update. Graphics are now even smoother than before on 6.3-6.
NOTE: Experimental is NOT required for this game to be perfectly playable! The default Proton version recommended by steam runs great! The latest PE just smooths out the frametimes a little more.
Refuses to launch. Unplayable.
Tested using Proton 6.3-6 and Proton Experimental. Tried multiple Launch Option flags, but game does not launch at all. Steam reports the game is running, then after about 30s reverts back to the 'Play' button.
Game is unplayable due to EAC.
Game works flawlessly on Proton 6.3-6 at the maximum in-menu locked 60fps (according to the built-in FPS monitor) all the way through character creation, but is unable to get in-game due to an error with Easy Anticheat that states "EAC initialization error" upon getting through login queue and connecting to a server.
No flags or tweaks were required to launch or navigate the game or its menus, and there were no noticeable issues or flaws outside of the standard Vulkan stutter when launching a new title.
EAC Still not enabled, newest patch adds new error messages when launching via proton.
Tested just now using Proton 6.3-7 and then Experimental. Game still not working. Same errors on both attempts. The following errors were received upon attempting to connect to the game server:
Error 1: Connection registration did not arrive in time: CalendarConnectedMsg Error 2: Connection registration did not arrive in time: CoatlicueTimingConfigurationConnectedMsg Error 3: Connection registration did not arrive in time: EventNotificationComponentClientFacet_SyncNotifications Error 4: Could not connect to server: Easy Anti-Cheat initialization failed!
All errors appear to be EAC related. With this patch (in my experience, ymmv), errors 1-3 are new when attempting to play through Proton.
As a note, menu and character creation both still work without issue on both tested Proton versions.
Patch 1.3 still has not enabled EAC
Game is still unplayable with today's 1.3 patch due to Easy Anti Cheat. Same errors appear. Testing in menus with proton 6.3-7 vs experimental does show a minor performance gain with experimental, showing tighter frame times and less stutter.
Patch 1.5, still not working due to EAC.
Same errors, no changes to playability with NW Patch 1.5.
bash -c 'exec "${@/NewWorldLauncher.exe/bin64\/NewWorld.exe}"' -- %command%
MUST INSTALL Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime
Game does not launch without this launch option set. You MUST install Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime (search for it in your Steam library and install it just like any other steam game.) You MUST be running Proton 7.0 or newer (7.0 added EAC fixes that are needed. The game might launch and play on earlier versions, but it is not recommended.)
WARNING: EAC support has not been officially announced. It is possible that you can still be banned. (I did not play for a lot of time on the main game other than testing if i could connect, but i did play for several hours like this in the PTR)
I dont know what broke between the last time i played and now, but OOF is the experience bad!
bash -c 'exec "${@/NewWorldLauncher.exe/bin64\/NewWorld.exe}"' -- %command%
Extreme lag, freezing of entire game for long periods of time
Freezes for several minutes after joining server followed by short periods of playability then freezes again.
Unplayable due to freezing/unresponsive game
Forced experimental. Game will not launch without launch option. EXTREME LAG in default recommended Proton version AND experimental. Unplayable.
New update broke the game!
After selecting character game goes to black screen for a long time then kicks with an error stating "Login Blocked: Suspicious Software or Corrupted Install Detected"
Tried the default recommended Proton version, forcing Experimental, and tried 7.26GE and 7.27GE all with the same issue. All files were validated and a full re-install had the same issue.
DISABLE MANGOHUD BEFORE CLICKING PLAY FROM THE MAIN MENU!
Having MangoHud overlay active when you try to connect to the game will cause a long black screen and then block your login attempt! Disabling MangoHud or even turning it off with the SHIFT+F12 keybind before clicking PLAY! from the character select menu will allow you to play as normal.
Flawless
Runs absolutely perfect out of the box. Have not had any issues whatsoever.
Despite the slowdowns, it plays pretty well on my hardware.
sometimes extreme slowdowns, large framerate drops dependant on complexity of scene much greater than windows.
Game worked out of the box with no changes needed.
Connected to private universe with 1 other player. No issues at all.
Online multi-player works fantastically, no bugs or issues. No stuttering or crashes with the current version (game is Early Access)
Ran better with Proton Experimental than the native version. Absolutely flawless experience.
The native version had severe slowdowns on my hardware, after switching to Proton Experimental there were no more issues. Everything played flawlessly on default settings with no slowdowns or stuttering. Highly recommended.
Had to edit system.xml in save to get game to run on dGPU instead of processor integrated graphics. Changing these from in game caused instant crash to desktop. Changing adapter in-game caused crash to desktop. Launch option was also required, and would not work on dGPU without both changes.
Launch Option: DRI_PRIME=1 %command% XML changed from 0 to 1: adapterIndex value="1"
The file was located here on my system: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1174180/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2/Settings/system.xml
Fullscreen would not work until i changed the graphics adapter setting in XML to the dGPU (adapter 1) and set DRI_PRIME=1 launch option
Worked with Proton 6.3-7. Minor continual stuttering, but not more than a minor annoyance. Noticeable frame drops when entering a new area.
Played 8 battles outside of the ship on the 2nd world, no issues. Crafting also worked as expected. Loading from steam cloud save worked, did not try saving, but dont expect any issue.
Worked flawlessly out of the box, played co-op without issue. Great experience.
Official patch introduced serious graphical/audio bugs and game instability
After performance patch: occasional static and distorted audio
After performance patch: Shadows flicker and occasionally spider out of shape streaching off into the distance. Occasional flashes consisting of artifacting white pink and green textures
Heavy performance dips after recent "performance" patch
After performance patch: experienced several random crashes that completely froze the game and crashed Gnome
The game still runs OK, but after the patch the shadows in the game flicker and artifact. Sometimes large areas of textures will flash mostly white with pink and green. Audio occasionally distorts and crackles, like the audio has frozen and then caught back up. The game also now stutters and drops framerates massively in places where it didnt before. This happens on both of the Linux machines I tested and persists at all video quality presets.
Broken due to EAC
Game starts and main menu works but will not enter game or training area due to EAC.
Plays surprisingly well at low on AMD 680M integrated graphics
Had no issues playing, after the Vulcan shaders did their thing the framerate was solid all the way through the tutorial section. Will play more and update if i notice anything different, but so far im very happy with the performance.
Must install another game by the developer (Battlerite Royale, not the other game named Battlerite by the same dev) so you can steal a specific .dll file and paste it into V Rising install folder. The other game is about 2.5GB.

REMEMBER: NEVER DOWNLOAD A DLL FROM SOMEONE ELSE, ALWAYS GET IT FROM THE SOURCE!
All issues i was having are now fixed when running Proton Experimental without any further tweaks or game file modifications. Without experimental and launching straight from steam with default settings the game still wont properly launch without tweaks.
Native version (Vulkan) ran with no major issues. Some stuttering on initial loading of textures, but was completely playable.
No issues, connected to private hosted server.
Run native, not Proton. Tried Proton Experimental, was completely unplayable at 3-4 fps.
