MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=180,no_display" mangohud %command%
I get below 50fps on Windows 10 with same specs. One launch command made my game to run smooth 180fps all the time.

MANGOHUD_CONFIG="fps_limit=144,no_display" mangohud %command%
Game runs without issues except if you don't limit FPS e.g. with mangohud, climbing movement is buggy and exiting the inventory can lead to white screen soft lock requiring a game restart.

Full screen has issues with 16:9 aspect ratio. Needed to switch to Borderless.
After 30 minutes or traveling too far, the game becomes incredibly slow.
Enter "DeathIstheRealDeal" in the beta codes to access the private "closed" branch. There, you'll be able to play the new version, which features DirectX 12 and a new lighting system.

Starts good
Played with Proton 9.0-4.

Slight dips in framerate depending on the area. Stays above 60 fps the majority of the time.
Launched the Epic version via Heroic Launcher

WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=2:0,1 gamemoderun DXVK_FRAME_RATE=120 %command%
The game has a bug where it lost most of it's sound. You only can solve it with a full game restart.
This launch option was able to solve the menu freezing issue.
completly unplayable, camera sensivity is too slow and any game options or steam input options is not helps

Works out of the box
Played from windows then migrated to Linux and everything works flawlessly

Installs and plays out of the box
I found two issues, which I believe are not Linux specific:
If you deal a very large amount of damage (end game build for example) the game crashes if damage number display is set on. The solution is to set it off in the hgame options.
On NG+, I reached level 30 during the cutscene in the Crystal Spire (just before earth mission starts). The game crashed when the cutscene ended. The only "solution" I found was to go and farm myself to level 30 elsewhere, and then return.
Enjoyable game, plays very well. The issues I noted have been discussed online, and are not specific to the Linux version. In that sense, it plays just as it does under windows.

bottles:run/'DarkSiders II Deathinitive Edition'/'Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition'
If you sent shortcut to steam via bottles, you must disable steam input and let bottles handle the gamepad!! Then it works flawless!!
Soda-Experimental_8.0, Discrete Graphics, Fsync, Win-Version: Windows 10

To this day this game crashes right after the game intros. On proton 6.3 you can hear audio playing but nothing but a black screen.
bottles:run/'DarkSiders II Deathinitive Edition'/'Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition'
I installed via bottles and send shortcut to steam then sgdboop to get artwork. Notes: Click controller icon and disable steam input and let bottles handle your gamepad. It may stump some of you. Unless you do this, in almost all games added via bottles the gamepad simply won't work. You do not have to use Boilr to get this game up and running.

My biggest gripe with this game is that when playing with the steam deck, it only recognizes the inputs as a controller. As such, it completely ignores mouse inputs. I paired the right touchpad to mouse input and it unfortunately didn't work. Using the right touchpad as a joystick was... okay-ish.
This is the fault of the game I believe. Just a note for those who don't enjoy playing 3rd person games with both joysticks.

WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=2:0,1 gamemoderun DXVK_FRAME_RATE=120 %command%
This game has a few issues on Windows which show up in Proton. I have decided to use the launch option "WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=2:0,1 gamemoderun DXVK_FRAME_RATE=120 %command%" to avoid the known issues and have avoided them. I had read about a public beta being avaliable in steam but when I tested it this still had the menu issue so I returned to stable.

Tried forcing Proton 7.0-6 as well as just using whatever proton steam recommended.
The game would freeze when I opened a menu. It could be my game settings or my inventory. I can open the menu and make changes but I could not leave the menu or the game would freeze. So I couldn't change any of my equipment or make use of any of my inventory screens. It would not happen every time but it took me 4 restarts of the game to equip the first piece of armor you get in the first 5 minutes. It also took me a restart to change my graphics settings. I would say that's unplayable for most people.
Works out of the box

I bought the game on GOG and installed it using Heroic.
Tried many many times running the game through Heroic, even tried some launcher options and other Proton-GE versions, but the game would either not even start or close itself after showing the first few logos.
I finally was able to play the game when I went to the folder where the game was installed and executed the "Darksiders2.exe" file directly. I believe that in this case the system automatically uses Wine to execute the game. That was the only way i found to play the game, was not able to do so using any other option in Heroic.
My computer was able to run the game normally (~144 fps), however I don't know if a lower end pc would be able to run the game this smoothly, since it is apparently not using proton.
Obs: You can also add this .exe file into steam as a non steam game, just make sure to not force any compatibility layer.

PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
No he notado otro problema de momento.

Tried several options from other reports as well as older Proton version, but it doesn't work
Tried different Proton versions (default, experimental, 6.3-8, 7.something), none worked. With newer versions it crashed after initial splash screens. With older version I could get past initial splash screens into a loading screen, but no menu appeared.

bottles:run/'Dark Siders II'/'Darksiders2'
I threw every known existing launch option and trick at this game and no dice. Installing it in bottles then using bottles menu add game to steam. (Discrete Graphics, Feral Game Mode, Preload Game Files.

VSync should be enabled in the game settings, else, some in-game menus could lead to crashes.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
If running with VSync disabled is necessary (because controls have less latency this way) my launch parameters solved the issue of in-game menus crashing for me.

gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Starts up and runs perfectly. Ran on big picture mode 3400x1440p ultrawide resolution no problem. Dualsense controller working fine. High framerates. Using Wayland
The game runs very smoothly no tinkering needed, no Proton version needed. runs native in 60fps and more?

Launching the game after changing to windowed just shows a black screen.
To clear any configuration changes, first make sure that cloud saves are turned off. The game will sync your original preferences before launching. This was the only way I could delete any configuration so that I could stop the game from launching in windowed mode, which only showed a black screen.
To reset your configuration settings:
Disable cloud syncing.
Delete all files under:
./.steam/debian-installation/userdata/96909919/388410/remote/ and ./.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/388410/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Darksiders2/
Launch the game, make your changes.
Re-enable your cloud syncing.
PS5 controller not always detected, fixed by disabling Steam Input
2 crashes in 34 hours. Known issue in Windows as well.
Summary of fixes:
- Most crashes: enabling V-Sync in the in-game options.
- If crashes still happen: capping frames to e.g. 60 FPS using something like GameScope.
- I had to use the beta branch in order to get past the Archon scene.
- PS5 controller: disabled Steam Input.
flawless, not a single issues. NOTICE: Game lies on NVME storage
Works great apart from very occasional audio problems and a couple of other minor things.
On a couple of occasions during conversations the voices stopped completely, and sometimes some of the sound effects would stop as well. The only solution I found was to close the game and restart. It doesn't happen that often.
A bit of stuttering when loading into new areas. Otherwise the game ran fine.
During the final boss battle, DO NOT use the revolver, it'll cause the game to freeze and you'll have to restart the game. This isn't caused by Proton as it also happens on Windows, but it's something you should be aware of.
20-30 framerate drop
A few random crashes.
Works well, except for a few random crashes.
Disregard my previous report. If the game crashes after a cutscene in The Crystal Spire, it is a game bug, it has nothing to do with Proton. The bug can be worked around by leveling up before the cutscene or trying the game's beta branch.
Always crashes after a cutscene in The Crystal Spire, around 13 hours into the game.
I did not finish the game.
Works good (in fullscreen)
Works good only fullscreen.
After try to switch in window mode game shows only black window. Reinstall game isn't help. Need to find and delete/rename all files 388410
in directory Steam/userdata/<user_id>/config/
. After that game starts in fullscreen.
Played with Proton 6.3-8.
Black screen on launch
Ran with no issues. I did turn down the resolution though to make it look better.

Does not work
Tested on Heroic Games Launcher
Runs well, but keep Graphics > Shadows below maximum setting.
<10 FPS if shadows set to maximum. With 2nd-highest shadows and otherwise max settings, I get 60-90 FPS at 3440x1440.
