The local save kept conflicting with cloud save despite the fact that Steam Deck is the only platform I'm using Steam on.
The game froze once, but it was a one-off thing in a long playthrough that didn't matter anyway due to autosaves.
This game used 1280x800 resolution out of the box, and showed the on-screen-keyboard when inputting a name was necessary.
I would recommend to switch to "Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad". Note that doing so will cause the game to sometimes show keyboard button prompts (stop using trackpad and do anything else with a controller to learn what is the relevant controller button), as well as cause "Brush styles" menu to behave oddly as it has a different layout depending on whether keyboard or a controller is being used (use right stick instead when setting new brushes instead to avoid it constantly shifting between keyboard and controller layout).
Despite those issues (which I would argue are pretty minor), being able to use trackpad instead of a stick for controlling what is essentially a mouse cursor makes the game feel much better I would argue. Right stick doesn't have precision of a touchpad.
Additionally, the touch screen works well if you want to use it, albeit I think on a device as large as Steam Deck, trackpads are a better choice.
Note that it's not possible to use touch screen or trackpads when playing co-op - mixing mouse and controller is not possible in co-op.
The main mode of the game is unplayable.
Story Mode (the main mode of the game) is unplayable. Endless Mode, Marathon Mode and Boss Rush work fine. Level editor works, albeit selecting already created levels crashes the game.

Changing beta branch for this game to steamdeck is necessary to avoid freeze while selecting a stage in Story Mode.
Gameplay works perfectly after using https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install. The configuration tool doesn't have text for "Save" button, but the button is still here, below "Help type" setting, marked with two lines.
To have working Alt+Tab in KDE, don't use Full-screen mode, use Borderless instead. A graphic card with Vulkan support is required, not having one will cause "Failed to initialize ID3D11Device" error message.

Keyboard/mouse input sometimes not recognized. This issue also happens on Windows.
Configuration Tool cannot be opened, causes "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" error.
Linux version doesn't use text-to-speech for Hypii, rather Hypii communicates using robotic noises (which are a fallback when TTS is not available). The game provides captions for Hypii's speech, so TTS is not strictly necessary.
Font sizes can be increased with "Settings" > "Interface" > "UI Scale" > "Full-Bodied".
If Valve were to review this game, I'm guessing it would be Playable due to font size (which can be changed), this game otherwise works great on Steam Deck.

Crackling only occurs on the title screen
Switching out from the game (even in window mode) causes the game to not accept the inputs anymore.
While not mandatory, I would recommend using "Gamepad With Mouse Trackpad" on Steam Deck, as this game supports simultaneous gamepad and mouse input.
Steam likes to use community layout for controlling the game, however I think Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse is a better choice as it doesn't use gyroscope to control the mouse, which feels odd in a game like this.
This game will pretty much need a native version to work.
Borderless fullscreen has borders. This can be dealt with by using non-borderless full screen, however this makes switching tasks much slower.
Disabled Back Grip Buttons
Made a lot of changes to the point where it's really a separate layout. The specifics aren't particularly meaningful here, different games ask for different choices - what works for me won't necessarily work for you.
sundy's Intuitive Controls provides a reasonable control scheme to start with, but feel free to experiment with buttons. My recommendation would be to start with mouse on right trackpad, left click on right trigger, right click on left trigger, scrolling with left stick and then fill rest of buttons with whatever actions are useful for a given game.
I had disconnections a few times, but I think it's just Tabletop Simulator being Tabletop Simulator.
Set TDP to 3 watts
Installed dgs_hackfix (https://github.com/AdmiralCurtiss/dgs_hackfix). For it to work, it's necessary to use protontricks to run winecfg (protontricks 1158850 winecfg) so that an override for dinput8 could be added (otherwise Proton will use its own version of dinput8). This also improves framerate to 60 as a bonus. Doing so makes makes Steam Deck's fan quiet, and allows improving battery performance without manually lowering TDP.
As above.
Opening on-screen keyboard at the beginning of the game requires pressing Steam+X. This is a point-and-click game, so using right touchpad for controlling mouse cursor is recommended.
It's necessary to use protontricks d3dcompiler_43 when playing game from itch.io (not necessary for Steam version, as that automatically installs DirectX)
