Runs out of the box, no tinkering required
When playing with mouse and keyboard on a dual monitor setup, the cursor does not always stay in the game window. Other than that, there are absolutely zero issues
Runs about 15 fps faster than on Win11
Game occasionally crashes with Nvidia driver 555 after the 2.13 patch, make sure to update your Nvidia driver to 560 or above
Download and play, no tinkering required which cannot be said about modern Windows
Perfectly functional split-screen experience with two wireless Xbox controllers
No amount of tinkering could get the game to work on Win10/11. Runs flawlessly out of the box on Linux thanks to Proton. I finally got to play this game after years of owning it!
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
The game locks itself to 50 fps without the launch command. Going over 60 breaks the game physics.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
Game sometimes stops registering any input from my keyboard. Nothing but a full PC reboot seems to fix this.
Leaving the framerate uncapped breaks the game physics. Capping it to 60 solves this.
absolutely F L A W L E S S
Runs perfectly well including online features. Very stable and consistent experience.
Colored smoke looks pixelated compared to the rest of the game. White smoke looks fine
Frequent stuttering with default Proton, switching to GE fixed this
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
GTA Online no longer works since Rockstar decided to add kernel-level anticheat
Game itself works great without any slowdown. If you want to use a trainer, the launch command above will force the game to use the trainer-required DLL
The game seems to launch slightly faster with Proton Experimental. No gameplay differences though.
Works as expected
both Xbox controllers succesfully registered and fully usable in game
No game breaking issues experienced
eval $(echo "%command%" | sed "s/2KLauncher\/LauncherPatcher.exe'.*/mafiadefinitiveedition.exe'/")
Alt+Tabbing out of the game makes it impossible to get back into it without restarting the game entirely
The cursor does not stay inside the game on dual monitor setups. The "--force-grab-cursor" launch option did not help.
If you use two or more monitors just play with a controller. Pretty much unplayable on keyboard+mouse, unless you disable your other monitors first.
Some textures are not loading in when using default Proton, switching to GE fixed this
Game occasionally froze and crashed, switching to Proton experimental fixed this
Runs OOTB, no tinkering required
Couch co-op with two wireless Xbox controllers works just fine
Just download and click play, runs perfectly fine just as is.
Runs just fine as long as you dont mind using mouse and keyboard
For some reason my Xbox controller does not seem to be detected but that could be an issue with the game itself rather than Proton
Runs perfectly out of the box
Just install and click play, a perfectly seamless experience.
