Does not work, period.
The launcher may appear, but beyond that, nothing. The game will not start.
Constant crackling.
If you're willing to play the game without any sound, the crackling may not be an issue for you.
Using the steam controller, which is listed in-game but completely unmapped. Works if you manually map it, but thats a terrible experience.
The game is supposed to support and automatically configure the steam controller, but I couldn't get that to work no matter what I did.
More than meet the recommended specs and got no higher than 30 FPS in game.
Performance and the experience depend on your particular setup and how many tweaks you want to do.
Game frequently crashes within the first few minutes of playing, impossible to continue. Barely make it out of the tank.
Don't know if it's required, but I used it.
Can't alt tab out
Epic games through Lutris
Alt-tabbing commonly completely breaks the game, requiring it to be force killed.
Played through the Epic Games Store, itself installed through the install script for it.
Game stays on top, impossible to alt-tab.
Rarely freezes in new areas, I assume while shaders compile or something. Only occurs once for whatever it's doing.
Enable DXVK for the game. Use the DX11 exe.
Minor, at start. Went away on it's own randomly, though.
Could very well be part of the game though, but combined with my hardware, wine, dxvk, hard to tell.
Doesn't like to alt-tab out, stayed on top but giving focus to a program below. Beware.
Others have reported slowdowns, in my case hard to tell as I don't exactly meet the minimum requirements. Haven't compared with native windows.
Doesn't work, at all. Not playable.
Heavy artifacts, ground graphically distorts up into the sky in various places, texture artifacts.
Significant performance issues despite meeting recommended specs. Low FPS, sutters.
Game freezes up during crucial cutscene, halting progression.
Also tried with Proton-5.21-GE-1, which mad minor improvements to texture artifacts but not the crash/freeze or the graphical distortions.
Alt-tab completely breaks the game
Haven't compared to windows, but occasional freezes.
Crashed once, at the end of the game. May have actually been the kernel/graphics driver that crashed, though, system was unresponsive afterwards.
It took me quite a few tries to get it working, but when I did it worked fine.
Shader errors, VC redistrubtable
Even with vcrun2017, this game doesn't start.
Requires https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
Game runs, but has long been shutdown and even removed from the steam store, so..
Does not work at all.
Either crashes on the Press Any Key menu, or nothing happens no matter what you do. Either way, this game is impossible to play, and it's a mystery how it was rated PLATINUM and is now still GOLD.
Black screen at start is a cutscene that fails to display. Everything will work properly if Media Foundation is installed to the wine prefix.
dxvk
Lighting artifacts, darker than it should be, flickering. Extremely minor issues.
Game completely breaks if you leave full screen, unable to go back in.
Closes instantly after starting
PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
Works I guess.
Attempted to use steam controller, no response. Started through big picture.
it works, and you *can* play it, but you have to do a lot of tweaking to even get it to run.
Some crackling. Was resolved using the pulseaudio low latency thing, 60ms.
Game crashes decently often, but it's hard to tell if this is because of proton, or the game itself.
it works, and you can play it, but you have to do a lot of tweaking to even get it to run, and even then it may crash fairly often requiring you to relaunch the game. And you have to use mesa-git.
it may also not work at all on NVIDIA yet
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 DRI_PRIME=1 gamemoderun %command%
Minor stutters and other performance issues
All animations / dialogue are slower than they should be for both Aloy, machine enemies, and NPCs. Aloy and enemy movement feels kind of underwater, and dialogue audio is far faster than their animations, leading to large delays.
If you don't mind hearing your audio first and then spending the next 30 seconds, or more, waiting for their animation to catch up and then to play the next line of dialogue, and all movement feeling like it's underwater, it otherwise works fine.
It may also work fine on your hardware.
Crashes on new game/load
"wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0000000000000000 at address 0000000180AA75DF (thread 0100), starting debugger..."
Barring bugs or performance issues in the game itself, this runs geat
under 30 FPS after the first jump. Think this is just a problem with the game though
Black screen on start, sound in background.
Game starts and background music will play, mouse will switch, but nothing will display. Just a black screen.
Videos don't properly play without mf-install
With mf-install, everything works fine.
Hard to tell, but yeah
Frequent crashes when using tethers and jumping.
Such a crash also brings down the entire system, possibly a driver/kernel bug? Screen colors break, X unresponsive, the process is a zombie but can't be reaped, system must be rebooted to recover.
Cutscene videos do not play, which as a game centered on story, makes it unplayable.
Video does not play
As a game centered around story, large parts of that story just not working, having to be skipped, make this completely unplayable
mf-install can NOT be used to get videos to play, trying simply causes the game to crash when it tries to play.
DXVK
The game can get fairly sluggish when doing a lot of things
Not For Broadcast, in all the wrong ways
Game doesn't start at all.
Works very well
Froze upon return from alt-tab. This was during initial credits cutscene and was not attempted again.
Even with the texture cache and launch option tweaks*, still get large texture corruption. More or less playable but very noticeable and distracting, hard to see.
- see these links for details https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/RAGE#Corrupted.2C_black.2C_jagged_or_dotted_textures
Game doesn't work
Trying to play it doesn't work properly, stuck screen with graphics and animations, pause menu works, but can't move or do anything.
Unplayable performance issues
Have not tried with stable mesa, which might be better?
Hangs on initial main menu login.
When Satisfactory starts it wants you to login to your epic account. Attempting do do so is impossible, and it doesn't let you access the main menu until you do so. The main menu is visible in the background but can't be interacted with in any way.
Works well, IF the below steps are followed
As of Proton 5.13, xdg-desktop-portal is required to open links. Satisfactory requires this ability to complete the initial login.
Some distros, such as Arch Linux, do not include this as a steam dependency.
Works well.
High-res textures sometimes failed to load, only rarely though. Probably a game bug, not wine?
Use DXVK
Through Epic Games on lutris
Borderless fullscreen would not use actual resolution, and was off-center.
Desktop mouse was overlayed with game mouse on buttons/click.
Input would occasionally not register
Crashed once
Requires https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install to display cutscenes and their subtitles.
Requires DXVK to render correctly, particularly in character creation.
Works well except for one crash so far.
Crashed during the apartment informant scene as I was about to crack the safe. Took down the entire system, required unplugging PC to reboot. Probably serious kernel bug.
Works well
Using desktop cursor instead of game, and positioning not matching. Occurred when game started, but wasn't in focus.
So far you can play, but it does have issues, more work is needed for the "typical gamer"
Text is fairly aliased/looks odd. Readable, but not nice and smooth.
Text is sometimes cut-off in game.
Sometimes crashes on game start, and mission start.
Linux gamers willing to deal with the problems can probably play fine.
Does not work, crashes instantly.
Am aware it has a native linux version, but that crashes instantly too, though at least with the decency to display an error, a segfault.
This is using the DirectX 11 version, see next report for DirectX 9, which works.
Works, I guess.
Haven't played for long, but did experience a crash after ending a battle.
May be because I alt tabbed out while it was loading the menu though
Only the DirectX 9 version runs
Alt-tabbing back into the game breaks it.
Alt tab breaks the game.
Vertical Lines. Theres no vsync or anything so moving constantly has them.
Alt-tab breaks the game
