Default settings too small to read. Change UI scale slider under Options->Display to maximum helps although the text still is still rather small.
Unable to change game resolution from ingame menu. Defaults to 800p. Changing the resolutions caused the game to lock up and then close out.
Game immediately recognize controller upon startup. Touchscreen and touchpads also work well.
Some brief slowdown when your colony is large and has a lot of buildings/items. Not a huge issue for this style of game.
Objects floating in the native version, changing to proton 9.0-4 worked without problems
works fine for me

Works natively, no issues whatsoever

gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Plays fine natively out of the box
Native version crashes on loading a game. no proton version i tried gets past a black window.

Native version doesn't always start. The workaround is to force Proton and then switch back to native. Windows version won't start with default Proton. Game will boot under Proton Experimental.

Native version is borked
Can install and run the game. It also plays a intro music, but no windows is being created (and there is therefore no way to interact with the game). Only option left is to force the process to stop.

The native version is broken and resets your display settings, resulting in a black screen and mouse cursor.
Manually enable Proton and it works fine.

Native game requires "libssl.so.1.0.0" and 'libcrypto.so.1.0.0". This is a minor problem on Arch Linux. Fixed by installing "aur/openssl-1.0" package. After that it's mostly flawless.
Escape menu turns background really bright.

Text is sometimes too small although readable
Playable and enjoyable with trackpads out of the box. Customize the controls to your likening

Starting the game turns off both of my screens and resets my display settings so that I have to use xrandr to get it back to where it was.
I don't know what happened between the last time I played and now but it is completely broken. at least with the native version.

Some texts are relatively small, but they don't interfere with the experience and it wasn't even necessary to use the magnifying glass.
In a single moment there was an audio crackle, but I believe it has to do with a decky loader pause plugin
On default control, everything works fine in the tutorial, but in the game itself, the camera keeps tilting up or down. At no other time does the left stick present any problem.
The game worked perfectly without any modifications. But there were cases that I needed to put the Proton GE in order for the game to open. But it opened at times without this change.
Works out of the box
To avoid the fullscreen crash, I had to disable it, but since the game doesn't even reach the menu, I needed to edit the following config file:
$HOME/.local/share/Surviving Mars/LocalStorage.lua
on the Option "FullscreenMode" set it to "0"
If fullscreen is on when launching the game, it will briefly black screen, then disappear, although the game keeps running on the background, with the menu music playing.
I've played a fair bit of the game, but I haven't done everything.
Some further information about my system: Running Gnome 44.1, on an Nvidia laptop, with the entire xorg session being rendered using the Nvidia card. I also have my laptop hooked up to a second external monitor.
Game doesn't work without tinkering (Native)

40hz/40FPS
At maximum UI scale it looks a lot better. Still a bit small but readable.
By default the left stick just drifts to random sides (not an issue with the device the stick works fine everywhere else).

The Epic version via Lutris (lutris-7.2-2 wine bottle) works great on openSUSE. No tinkering required. To be clear: it is necessary to install the default Wine package from openSUSE repository in order to have the best system requirements even before installing Lutris, including the Mesa Vulkan packages, in case you have an AMD or Intel GPU (all the ones required also for layering DirectX). Because I saw here that some of you have too unnecessary issues, probably due to incomplete system setup.

Runs well.
Native version did not boot.
Some text is a little small but not impossible to read
Just download, install and play. No any issues at all.
Worked flawlessly
Runs perfectly out of the box
Haven't tested many of the DLCs but it runs great. No issues or crashes at all
Some text is quite small on the steam deck screen
Controller input was not working correctly at the secong launch, switch it the other input in steam then switch it back to default, and controller input will working natively and coreectly
Game crashes every couple of in-game days on the fastest speed setting. Barely playable.
Game freaks out when not in focus, causing other programs to sort of flicker in and out of focus
The game REALLY doesn't like being tabbed out of
Refuses to launch natively and disabled my in-built laptop screen leaving only the external monitor when I tried. Seems to work in Proton but made my computer freak out when I tried to defocus it.
When having multiple monitors connected game starts but you can see it only in system monitor(in my case i see task named "render") and hear "music". Many people said that change fullscreen setting in config. Did not help me. I just turned off my secondary screens and game started up natively just fine. Seems to be some issue related to the multimonitor setup.

Works pretty well with no modifications.
When changing volume, it stops for around a second. Also, the audio settings for music/conversation/etc do not seem to work as expected.
Game won't appear (or even display a window) if run with multiple monitors. Need to kill -9 it. Otherwise works 100% natively.

Booted but no visible window - just the menu music playing in the background
No matter how many times I restarted the game and changed Proton versions, I could only ever get to the point of having background music playing - no window ever appeared.

With a bit of tweaking the game runs fine natively
By setting FullscreenMode
to 0
in ~/.local/share/Surviving\ Mars/LocalStorage.lua
and making the file readonly the game launches successfully, after launch I maximize the window and enter fullscreen (alt - enter) and it works perfectly
