Given the many bugs of this game it might be possible to enjoy, but unless the bugs are fixed, I can't see having an enjoyable time with it.
Sometimes it will just outright crash when trying to load a save file, the game will get stuck and freeze on loading screen. There are also issues with Auto-Saves as well. Sometimes the game will forget you had an Auto-Save and then revert you back 3 saves earlier. Completely unstable and reverting your progress. Wasn't able to progress past getting the Keycard in the warehouse because it would always crash after game over, and the door to leave the warehouse is locked preventing you from leaving after getting the keycard. Reloading from Auto-Save will just crash the game and keep you from progressing any further past this point.
Sometimes it will freeze crash on loading, other times it will glitch out completly preventing you from progressing anything at all such as locked door or drawer that would otherwise NOT need anything to unlock them. The office door you start in will be permanently locked after the first escape from the cat animatronic where you have to return to the office to answer the phone call, if you close this after the cat leaves the door will be permanently locked.
If you try to get the lockpick set from the drawer after the phone call in the office the drawer will be locked when it needs nothing to open after watching the bull animatronic smash through the window. The game will completely break here preventing you from opening the drawer, and after first inspecting the jaw on the tablet a second time you will be trapped inspecting and unable to escape.
instability issues, broken game bugs preventing any kind of progress past a certain point as for the previously mentioned game breaking bugs that locks things without explanation when they're not suppose to be locked, or locked explicitly until after a cutscene has played, but never unlocks after this.
I'd expect these sort of bugs out of a Unity game, but this is UE4 game.
You should have no issues out the box.
Can't Alt+Tab away from the game when in Fullscreen or Windowed Mode, also when in windowed mode the game will keep auto-centering the window to the center of the screen during each loading or cutscene in the game. But aside from this minor issue, everything seems to work fine.
If you're using PS controller instead of Xbox controller you will need to change it to Type A in the Settings menu of the game, since it's default to Type B for Xbox controls.
If you need to run extra environment parameters, just place it before the `%command%`, ie; gamemode.
%command% -novid -novsync -high -nojoy -threads 16 -vulkan
I would always recommend setting gamemode in your global system environment as a system service so you don't have to put it in there for every game on Steam.
While not yet a Native game for Linux as it's still early dev build as of writing, does run pretty well for what it is. I put -novid -novsync -high -nojoy -threads 16 -vulkan
in my launch options to speed up loading into the game, and disable Joystick input, only if you don't need a joystick support, and allocating enough threads that the system can manage if your CPU supports it, while exclusively setting to Vulkan renderer for faster smoother performance.
100% Broken. I tried all the things like Disabling ESync, FSync, D3D, Large Address Aware, Old GL String, Wine D3D and D9VK, none of these worked. Tested with both Official Proton 4.11-6 and custom versions of Proton.
Some performance issues with stuttering or random freezes
After a while this character editor will freeze for no apparent reason, total freeze lockup and has to be Force Quit because it does not recover.
Won't work on Wine/Proton versions below 9.1 for some reason, because when you get to the Screen Adjustment setup screen on startup it will Crash after setting screen Brightness, Contrast and Gamma settings and attempt to send a Crash Report and fail before closing the game again.
Shouldn't require tinkering, just changing Proton versions to one that doesn't crash at Screen Adjustment on startup should run out-the-box just fine.
I did some digging around to see if I could solve the HTTPS Error 404 that everyone's been getting, but with tweaking and testing I haven't been able to find a fix, HOWEVER… upon investigating the issue for the HTTPS Error 404 I've found that the URL in question that it's trying to resolve to is incorrect which is why it's giving HTTPS Error 404, this URL here - https://frontier.ffxiv.com/version_4_0_win/version_4_0_win/index.html?1559390056785 <- is incorrect, what it SHOULD be resolving to is this URL -> https://frontier.ffxiv.com/version_4_0_win/index.html?1559390056785 which doesn't return HTTPS Error 404, instead I get HTTPS OK 200. It looks like they messed up and added the "/version_4_0_win/version_4_0_win" twice instead of once. I tried seeing if modifying the hosts file in the Wine prefix to redirect to the correct URL would work, but you can't. It'll have to be up to SQUARE to fix the broken URL issue.
So long as you have minimum specs as required by this game, and all software updated you should have no issues.
If your graphics card crashes while playing this game, there's a chance it may corrupt your Wine prefix for FFXIV and have to reinstall the game with a new Wine prefix.
If you're having issues with running the game with Steam's own version of Proton I would highly recommend checking out GloriousEggroll's custom Wine version on GitHub.
Tried to test out if FaceRig would work with Proton, and custom versions of Proton like Proton 1.14-GE-1 or Proton 1.15-GE-2, but it doesn't. It's completely broken and just gives you a never ending popup loop of "mscorelib recursive resource lookup bug" Like literally any button you hit to dismiss this message just opens up repeatedly with this bug error, and has to be forcibly killed with pkill -9 exe
to get rid of it. -- If you try to select the Bypass Launcher (Troubleshooting) it attempts to load, but the window immediately turns black and can't see anything, but things are still clickable, and you will immediately get another popup error box asking if you want to dump the crash to a logfile. So yeah 100% borked unless someone can find a way to fix that issue.
Cannot Launch game due to Rockstar Game Launcher throwing "unexpected" errors.
On first-launch it complained about running on unsupported Windows 7/8 versions, I changed it to Windows 10 version from Protontricks. Added missing Games fo Windows Live that it "required".
Rockstar Social Club app that launched when you hit play would just show a black window, I switch to Steam Tinker and THEN the Rockstar Social Club displayed correctly where you have to login. However AFTER logging in, I get the Games fo Windows - LIVE Save Data screen message that pops up, fresh installed game from Steam, and so there are no Save Data available, and I hit CANCEL button. Get another popup message immediately after with the following stating;
ERROR
Grand Theft Auto IV exited unexpectedly
I hit Retry, and it throws me back to the same two popup messages for Save Data and Error, it's an error loop, hitting OK just exits and thus can never launch the game.no matter how many times I hit Retry, Validate Game Integrity from within Steam. NOTHING WORKS. A+++ to Rockstar for making a really shitty and unnecessary game launcher that barely functions.under Steam, and forcing their shitty game launcher in order to play the game.
I also tried install of GTA V since I also own that, and that somehow launches just barely. GTA IV is completely unplayable unless there's a way to skip the RGL requirement. Adding the game executable as a Non-Steam Game doesn't work either, because it requires RGL in order to launch.
Platinum Rating but it's broken?
Fix an issue with Alt+Tab being impossible with adding RegKey fix.
With Protontricks, open up RegEdit and add the following key;
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver]
"UseTakeFocus"="N"
I don't see how this game can get a Platinum rating while also being fairly broken and unstable. You can't play for more than 5 minutes without the game totally freezing up and being completely unplayable.
I can get into the game menus, but even there the game will just randomly decide to freeze up completely and become unresponsive. Just trying to get into a level to play ends up freezing completely after a short amount of time of getting into it. There were also other issues present such as flickering graphics. I tried with Steam version of Proton and I tried with GE Proton, both versions yield same issues.
I tried running the game with DX12 but gets issues saying it can't find the specific DLL file it needs to run. Tried with DX11 also same issue. I also tried with WineD3D to which the game just absoluitely will not boot at all. I'll get the Launcher window, but after that the game will just simply not launch at all after hitting Play.
I would be guessing that the current state of HITMAN 3 had a bad update to where it made it broken and unplayable in its current state before the other reports came in as working. If a new update comes in to fix the issues mentioned then I will update my report.
Still unplayable
VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
install of additional support packages for DXVK
While you can get into the game partially, you can only play from 20 seconds to a few minutes until the game freeze crashes. I would of expected an update to fix some of these free crashing issues but it does not, and remains unplayable. I don't know what others are doing different to make the game playable, but I have tried other solutions to which they do nothing to prevent the game freeze crashing. Doesn't matter what missions you try to play the freeze crashes still happens no matter what. I have used Proton Experimental and I have used GE-Proton7-24 to which neither have worked, because it still results in an unplayable game that will always freeze crash. Further investigation is required to find out the source of the freeze crash issues.
If you can deal with it's current state of occasional freeze crashes you can still have fun.
PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 DXVK_ASYNC=1 WINEFSYNC=1 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 %command% -dx12
While the game in it's current state is able to run on current versions of Proton or GE-Proton, there's still instability with random crashes. For example; Game will sometimes crash when loading up the game before you get into the Game Menu, and then other times if in-game and you press Esc to bring up the Pause Screen it'll freeze crash sometimes, or when you are on the Mission Briefing screen and you go to load a mission or re-do a mission it'll freeze crash there sometimes. So whatever IOI did with their game update it's made it a little bit more stable, but it's incomplete. At best I'd give this game a rating of Silver, rather than Gold, if further stability is improved then I'd grant it Gold rating. I will need to do further testing with other versions of Proton and GE-Proton to test its stability.
Unable to determine if you can just straight launch this game without tinkering in it's current state, previous attempts proved unsuccessful. While after tinkering and switching different Proton versions you're able to jump into a level and play, some levels may still not work or load correctly.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_HIDE_NVIDIA_GPU=0 VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr11 VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=11 %command% -dx11
Installed ZHM Mod SDK for graphical and gameplay mods - https://github.com/OrfeasZ/ZHMModSDK - I use Skip Intro mod for faster startup time, and FreeCam mod so you can explore the game in cinematic fashion and figure out NPC pathing and behaviours for Contracts. I also use a Visual Mod that changes the colors for NPC outlines and object interactables to make them each uniquely distinguishable, as well as Level Mods that changes up the lighting visual for some maps.
Installing mods like ZHM Mod SDK might give you instability or crashing issues, so long as you don't install or use too many mods. Using the Mod Menu for certain things in-game might crash the game sometimes, especially if you're messing with giving yourself items, moving items or messing with NPCs.
I think you'll appreciate the details in the rendering, but for the fuill experience of the game, you're better off playing the original.
-novid
RTX Frame Generation will give you artifacting or blurring of detail, since its using AI upscaling to try improve visual quality in the environment, however rendering of NPCs it will hullucinate visual details and make them appear blurred and hard to distinguish from the background. I often found it hard to make out details of Combine Soldiers on Nova Prospekt, because their details kept distorting if they were beheind enviromental objects.
In the Ravenhom map, if you looked up at the sky and moved the camera up and down you will see artifacting on the sky as you move around, which is to be expected with DLSS frame generation.
With RTX ON of course you're going to get slowness. Some of which caused by partiicle effects like fire.
NOTE: This was played on the Demo Version, and probably won't reflect the same in the full version.
You're not gonna get 100 FPS with RTX enabled game like this, so you will see performance dips. I saw an average dip of 11-15 FPS when rendering props, entities and effects. Some areas will give you 30-45 FPS when not rendering a whole bunch of stuff at once, ie; standing in place at a single scene.
I haven't tried
WINE_DISABLE_HARDWARE_SCHEDULING=1 %command%
or
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 %command%
in the Launch Options with this game like some others have put in their Launch Options, which may or may not give you any performance differences depending on your hardware. Given that this game is meant for NVIDIA RTX GPU's I don't think this will run on AMD GPUs, or if it does, probably not very well.
I reckon yes you will have a relatively enjoyable experience running this game on Linux with Proton despite the little issues with the game.
Some bits of screen tearing here and there during cutscenes and stutters, in-game seems relatively smooth with very little stutters or screen tearing.
I noticed that I could not set the game to specific window sizes because it would auto-override what I wanted. I tried setting 1400x1050 windowed mode and it forced it to 1400x980, this happens when trying other resolutions in windowed mode also.
Some bits of lag input, particularly with the mouse, the camera not turning properly when I turn left or right. Mouse is set at 1600 DPI and mouse sensitivity in-game from the settings menu is set to about 1.6, mouse acceleration is off, no mouse smoothing.
Some stability issues after setting the resolution of the game, I got a fatal error after changing resolutions and joining a game campaign where it crashed at the first initial cutscene of starting, quite minor, but was able to join back and continue playing the game as normal. -- One other slight issue which I found a little annoying was the game was maxed out 100% CPU across 3-4 cores on my i7-7700K clocked at 4.8GHz which was probably where it was giving me said issues I've previously described.
EAC while it does natively support Linux and has their own binary for Linux, this game will have issues running EAC and won't be able to access most online features.
If Microsoft Studio is willing to support Linux and Proton, they could help work out some of the issues, and also maybe throw in EAC binary for Linux so they can play online too. Halo: Reach probably needs some optimisations so it's not overworking the CPU to 100% across 3-4 cores on some Intel based CPUs like i7-7700K. I'm hoping the other games when released won't be as hard on the CPU.
While free short game I don't know if I could recommend this game based on what it did to my display upon first launch.
Unable to play video files that are included with the game. Probably missing libraries for playing the videos.
As previously mentioned, upon launching the game for the first time my display stopped working, and I couldn't Alt-Tab, so I was forced to drop to X Display and kill it and try again. The game also doesn't switch to Windowed Mode after selecting it from the game options. It stays stuck in Full Screen, and mouse begins to stutter. It also doesn't even save your Windowing preference even after closing the game after setting your options.
Mouse would become stuttery when you switched the game to Windowed Mode, you could not literally move your mouse cursor smoothly and consistently.
Seems to suffer frame stuttering. Upon launching the game for the first time it caused my display/desktop to stop working.
Because it's made in Unity Engine, you're gonna get a lot of bugs on Linux.
You should have pretty enjoyable experience playing this game without graphical or otherwise audio glitching.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST GloriousEggroll
Fullscreen Borderless Mode isn't really Fullscreen, it'll fill most of the entire screen leaving the desktop menu bar still visible.
As previously stated, Mouse input felt laggy at times, camera getting stuck or unable to move camera and end up clicking outside the game window.
Some input lag with mouse, can't select weapons on menu with mouse, and mouse will sometimes often escape the window and make the camera get stuck or unable to move the camera at all and end up clicking outside the window.
Game will crash after missions end screen report card and credits roll.
Overall gameplay experience is as smooth as it can possibly be. Game was tested on Max graphical settings.
This game seems to be having issues with reversed and upside down text, and menu screen doesn't even load at all, attempting to load into the game profile will drop to 1 FPS and still not load anything. Game is pretty much broken and unplayable. I think the issue is with the Vulkan backend, if you can force it to use OpenGL instead of Vulkan it might work correctly, but there doesn't seem to be a Steam Launcher Option for Proton to forcing it to use OpenGL over Vulkan.
It's so broken that it will say it's "Running" but it's not actually, it's just dumping error after error.
using PROTON_LOG=1 created at 2GB log file from PUBG with over 100,000 lines of the same error repeated over and over for only a few minutes of leaving it "running" but not actually showing anything, No game window, No config window, just nothing.
With the right hardware you can probably crank it all to high settings and run with little to no problems.
If you need the Widescreen FOV fix go to the following file from drive_c\users\steamuser\Local\AppData\Pal\Saved\Config\Windows\Engine.ini
and add this at the bottom, and click save.
[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV
Given it's an Early Access state currently there is minor frame stuttering from time to time, or when loading in new areas. frames will be dropped as it loads new stuff in.
Issues may be remeided by enabling DLSS in the Options > Graphics menu if it even lets you. You'll need to do some tinkering to get DLSS to work by trying and installing vkd3d.
I'm giving it a while until they've worked on the netcode that needs optimizing some more.
This game will probably only run with NVIDIA or AMD GPUs, given the number of reports saying that it doesn't work with Intel Arc GPUs, I wouldn't count on Intel Arc being supported in the future though.
The game will load up, but will immediately crash when trying to change settings or browse for servers. I used Proton 4.11-3, and it's completely broken, I also tried with a custom version of Proton by GloriousEggroll with Proton-4.14-GE-1 (https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases) even with that the game is still unplayable on Proton.
The game will launch but will stay stuck on the Opening Bundles loading screen.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% -maxMem=16384 -cpuCount=4 -exThreads=8 -force-d3d11-no-singlethreaded gamemoderun %command%
I will see a lot of trace:unwind:dump_unwind_info
and trace:seh:sigsys_handler SIGSYS
in the log dumps when it attempts to load the Bundle Assets Rust uses and thats where it freeze-crashes at because it doesn't know what to do here even though the bundle assets are there, and fine, not corrupted or anything.
I have tried with Proton Experimental and Proton 8.0-3 and find the game wont even launch at all, it'll be stuck on Launching and do absolutely nothing from there because it hangs for whatever unknown reason, and can't get any log output of whats going on.
If anyone knows how to get around this Opening Bundles freeze-crash issue with the Bundle Assets and make Rust load them correctly without crashing, then you can try reach out to me on socials on meow.social/@Alkaris
PROTON_ENABLE_NGX_UPDATER=0 %command%
Forcing FrameGen=On
in the GameUserSettings.ini
file can be done, because it can't be enabled while in-game from the Settings Menu as its locked out for some unknown reason. Despite having this set Enabled and On, and ensuring
[SystemSettings]
r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1
is set in both the Engine.ini and GameUserSettings.ini file, it doesn't seem to make a difference, it still can't hold a stable framerate above 30, and will drop to 15 FPS on a very capable RTX 3070 card that can deliver over 200+ frames. I think the poor performance all comes down to CPU utilization isues, they're not very well optimized for consumer desktop CPUs.
Can't hold a stable framerate above 30 despite setting Unlimited or 60 FPS in settings. It will only ever run at 30 FPS and above when in a game menu. This is a game that's optimized for Console first, and PC second, but it's clear PC optimizations are bad.
Sometimes Unreal Engine will crash on first load.
If you can somehow get the game to run stable above 30 FPS and at maximum framerateit would be fine. Even if you can edit the config INI files it doesn't make much of a differenc in performance. Perhaps this will run better with AMD CPUs with more cores than Intel CPUs.
Game cannot be run in windowed mode
Tried setting this game to run in Windowed mode by editing it's *.ini file, but the game renders improperly and doesn't set the correct size, trying to change the resolution in-game causes the game to go Full Screen and renders the game even more improperly and more broken. Needs a fix so the game renders properly at the chosen resolutions, and actually open the game in the correct Windowed Mode settings that the game seems to only provide as 1080x1024 or lower.
Game will not let me hit Play, the Play button is greyed out and only gives me the option to test the video.
Doesn't work out the box like other claimed it to, needs tweaks to run and be playable. The game would also crash when testing different video modes. It hides important windows behind the game so you can't even click or interact with it for saving configurations. If there are options to bypass this directly it needs to be known. -- Tested with custom Proton versions and still doesn't work out the box.
Game will load, but will not load into anything past menus.
This game does NOT work out the box like others have claimed. Applied different settings and tweaks and still doesn't work. Crashes upon trying to load the first mission. Half the time the game doesn't even launch properly because it'll say Running… and then stop running a moment after. Takes far too long to launch the game. All round broken out the box game.
This game will not run out the box so you have to do some tweaks first to get it to run.
Go to the install directory for SA2 and rename Launcher.exe to sonic2app.exe, and sonic2app.exe to Launcher.exe
Go to Configs directory and create 2 new empty files here. Keyboard.cfg and UserConfig.cfg
Go to this link and copy each of those configs and save them to those 2 files you created as outlined https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Sonic_Adventure_2#Launcher_crashes_when_trying_to_start_the_game.2C_No_resolution_options_available
Be sure to change the resolution in your UserConfig.cfg to match your display or whatever you want it set at.
Extra Notes: The Framerate default is 60 FPS which is also tied to the game speed at which it will be running at. This is an undesirable result however making it slightly difficult or harder to play the game at a normal speed rate, and cutscenes won't play at normal speed either.
Controller mapping for Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers needs to be tweaked in some capacity. If you have the Flip A/B button enabled for Switch Pro Controller, you'll probably find that the A Button isn't registered as A Button, and B Button isn't registered as B Button and will require the reconfiguring of Steam Controllers from Steam, you need to restart the game if you make changes as they're not detected immediately. Some other button inputs might need reconfiguring as a result.
GE-Proton9-23 is selected as default for Compatibility with no tinkering of config files or launch options involved for the game, as it runs well out the box.
I used a GuiliKit King Kong Pro 3 controller with this game, and feels really nice to use with this game, you can use the paddle buttons on this controiller for this game, but need to be manually configured for different button input actions in the Steam Controller config, since it doesn't natively support paddle buttons. I do find the in-game button mapping menu to be somewhat awkward when trying to remap buttons, since it's hard to tell if the button pressed is mapped correctly, but this is a Game UI issue on Team Sonic's side of things not making it visually clear on when a button is mapped, and not necessarily hardware issue.
Game will start but will crash after 1st cutscene of a new game
Cannot play the game at all. It'll play through the cutscene just fine, but as soon as you try to load into the first world, the game immediately crashes every time. Skipping Cutscene doesn't avoid the crash either. Nothing I try works at all, changing DXVK, disabling ESYNC, etc… change Proton versions or use custom versions nothing works. It's broken.
Buttery smooth native game
This can be run on max graphics settings and not suffer any slow downs or stuttering running at a consistent and smooth framerate. If you have Gamemode enabled globally as a service that runs automatically whenever you run games, you shouldn't experience slow downs.
Audio at times may glitch and stutter, but that's VRChat in general problem, not specific to Linux only.
Sometimes VRChat will fail to recognise you're clicking in-game after Alt+Tabbing out and back in again later, there appears to be a sligth delay to recognising window display is active. -- One other thing I had to tinker with specifically in order to make VRChat work properly after Alt+Tab was add a X11 specific Windows Registry for TakeFocus, otherwise you cannot continue to use VRChat as normal as all clicks become nonresponsive.
Add a RegKey at the following point to fix:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver]
"UseTakeFocus"="N"
Shouldn't be a necessary thing to do, but blame the VRChat Devs for this, since it's built-in to Unity as an option.
Huge performance drops in large populated worlds and avatars.
Crashes may happen sometimes or you may experience freeze lag, but this is mainly due to how badly programmed VR Chat is with performance and stability.
At times when switching out for a different Avatar to use, if they have props dynamics from the Expressions menu, the camera gets stuck inside the avatar model in such a way that blocks your field of vision when you move, or when crouching and looking up or down, or you will find that the camera is stuck out of the avatar's model and see their heads when looking down. Other issues being that the Expressions Menu not changing to match the model you've currently loaded in, and instead will show blank menu if using the UI small mode, or if you try to use from the Quick Menu, the Expressions menu from the Wheel will be greyed out and cannot be selected. One workaround that seems to temp fix this issue is going to the Quick Menu and Disable and Enable the OSD from the Config menu.
As mentioned before if in big worlds or places with many avatars you'll get significant amount of lag performance drops, but this is VR Chat problem with poor performance and stability. If the devs took the time to fix stability and performance issues, and add more useful options to VR Chat Settings Menu like resetting your avatars camera and fix the mentioned issues of menus breaking or simply outright now working at all.
If applying the mentioned RegKey fix for TakeFocus you should be fine with Alt+Tabbing and not breaking. VR Chat really needs fixes or patches that allows proper streaming of Video Media Player content stuff. It uses youtube-dl
for that stuff but doesn't let you use native Linux version, which they should include by default so you're not going to get to enjoy worlds with friends watching videos, music or movies together. Unless a suitable Proton fix becomes available to make it work, you're stuck without it, unless you find a hack to make it work.
Yes, but no. Gamepad is an issue when it disconnects and doesn't reconnect, and occasional random crashes out of nowhere.
Whenever the gamepad loses connection for whatever reason the game refuses to notice the gamepad is connected and respond to input, you're forced to close the game every time just to get the controller to work. Steam noticed the controller and can see it and receive input, but the game is so badly programmed that it can't even detect controller properly after it loses input.
What the devs SHOULD do is patch gamepad detection that even if the controller disconnects that it always finds and sees the controller as connected, instead of losing focus entirely. If Steam can detect and see the controller, then the game should also see and detect the controller, but it's a 1-sided thing, only Steam sees the controller and passes input to the game with the loaded configuration file it finds. The game pad will appear disconnect permanently and never reconnects with the game forcing you to restart the game.
Occasional crashes related to USB devices connecting or disconnecting. The game will crash when the devices are unrelated to the game itself. Audio devices for example, headsets powered over USB, if connection over USB was lost temporarily, this will make the game crash.
Other unrelated crashes where the game will randomly decide to freeze up and crash entirely at random for no reason.
Proton-5.21-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
VCRedist packages wouldn't install by themselves properly when attempting to launch the game. Had to use Protontricks to select VC Redist 2012, 2015 and 2017. They could only be installed this way for some reason because they failed by Proton's usual way.
With Switch Pro Controller D-Pad seems to not work correctly with DPAD UP, enabling the Swap A/B/X/Y buttons from Steam Controller config doesn't seem to work properly, or not map the buttons correctly to what they should be. Other weird issues is that the sensitivity levels of D-Pad and joysticks seems like they get ramped up making it impossible to do 1 step inputs.
I think the controller issues I was having is just related to Steam specifically, not the actual game. Steam has been doing some weird things where controller configs and such aren't being read correctly or bugging out.
Overall very playable and enjoyable. If you want to save yourself some CPU hogging, turn down the Quality preference to Mid or below.
For whatever reason if you click out of the game or Alt+Tab away from the game and switch back to it, mouse clicks no longer register on buttons in-game, yet you can still draw mouse particle effects when clicking around on the game screen. The game essentially becomes unplayable because for unknown reasons that it can't properly detect mouse clicks on in-game menu buttons?
Don't know if its because Unity issue, because Unity games ALWAYS have issues on Linux and not function properly as intended when it comes to mouse inputs. Linux is the least supported by Unity because Epic Games is and has always been Anti-Linux.
If there could be any fixes that could be applied to the game that fixes the mouse input issues that would be great.
Yes it's very playable, and you shouldn't have issues so long as you've added manual mouse patch fix to the registry through RegEdit.
Added Registry key to fix mouse focus issue. Create registry file and import with the following;
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver]
"UseTakeFocus"="N"
Mouse Focus gets lost when you Alt+Tab or click-out of the game, but is fixed with registry key.
This is just an update to my previous report on this game surrounding the mouse focus issue, and so I've provided a Registry fix which you can add for the game to run normally and not lose mouse focus should you happen to accidentally click out the game or Alt+Tab from the game. I used Protontricks to edit the registry with RegEdit.
$ protontricks --gui
→ Select game from menu;
→ Default wineprefix
→ Run regedit
→ Import Registry key
About average experience, but if you're looking to purchase in-game packs using Steam Overlay, you won't be able to unless a patch is made.
Steam Overlay doesn't work properly, it just flickers and the game locks up, unable to back out of Steam Overlay menu. So trying to access Store Page for purchasing Crystal Packs and things within the game will result in Steam Overlay locking up the game completely.
By Default I enabled Steam Compatibility for ALL Games, but at the time of writing I have GE-Porton9-23 installed and selected as the default, and it works great out the box, no tinkering or changes to Launch Config or modifications to it's internal config files to run this game.
Once you've changed default language from Chinese to English you should be good.
Running this game with custom Proton versions didn't seem to work and gives you "Error: File Not Found", but under Proton 5.0-3 the game runs fine. On startup you'll be greeted with the game menu but in Chinese you have to manually set the language in-game to English.
If you're not familiar with Chinese here's how to navigate the menus.
- Select 4th option from the top for Options
- Select 3rd option from the top for System
- Click the dropdown box and select English
Once you've done that you should be able to find your away around the menus relatively easy now to configure the rest of your settings for the game. In-game will have both Chinese and English subtitles.
