When launching, the game was only being rendered to my left eye while the right eye was still showing the SteamVR area, using the launch options fixed this
Some slowdowns but that is most likely due to my hardware, runs much better than if it was running on Windows natively
Unoptimised mess
5 FPS even on above minimum hardware requirements
-vulkan
-sdlaudiodriver pipewire
is no longer necessary anymore, removing it from launch options resolves random loss of audio
CPU intensive, maxed out GPU utilisation on main menu but not during gameplay
SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0 gamemoderun %command%
Audio still sometimes disappears during gameplay, caused by ALT TABing too often, this is fixed with the SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS
environment variable in launch options.
Adding SDL_VIDEO_MINIMIZE_ON_FOCUS_LOSS=0
to your launch options is highly recommended as ALT TABing causes CS2 to minimise everytime you lose focus of the window, this is not what happens on Windows and can sometimes lead to the game losing audio randomly.
When you set the environment variable to 0
, it makes the game stay maximised even when focus is lost on the window.
-sdlaudiodriver pipewire -vulkan
Audio will randomly stop working when Discord is open, changing audio devices inside of CS:2 causes a crash
The fullscreen options are a bit awkward and sometimes won't lock your cursor in place
In Wingman, game will randomly stutter at the start of the round - In WIngman bots only Nuke, game will not load and crash
Game launches but crashes at 0% during "Preparing Planetary Generation System"
After deleting the Proton prefix, retrying and attempting to use Experimental, resulted in zero change This issue is might be related to having a Intel iGPU: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/12wuot4/game_keeps_crashing_on_launch_during_preparing/
Font was present during initial launch, after installing the game files all of the UI text disappeared completely
Some people say that swapping to Proton GE can solve the issue but in my case it didn't
Exception in `wineopenxr.dll.so` causing constant `dump_unwind_info` in Proton logs
Same issue occurs in Proton 9 and later, was able to create and open a window with Proton 8 but causes Unity crash reporter to trip

Voice chat is broken in lobbies and speech recognition (Vosk) is currently broken out of the box but can be fixed by using Proton-GE which implements Vosk integration
If you want for speech recognition to work correctly, use Proton-GE instead to play as it uses Vosk's API and I was able to speak to the ghost using the spirit box.
Game will throw "The following component(s) are rquired to run this program: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime"
Installed Visual C++ redist in the prefix but it will still throw the "following compoent(s) are required to run this program" error
-vulkan
Crashing after intro sequence, seems to be fixed by adding the -vulkan
launch option
Game runs better after the 1.0 update, but the game forces DirectX 11 meaning it won't allow you to change it unless you add -vulkan
(or any other supported graphical API) to the launch options in Steam.
Goes straight to Crash Report Handler after EAC prompt
EAC seems to be working but the game will immediately crash and prompt you to submit a memory dump to support
Bareable than Windows, works well on Lowest
Crashed once during loading
For my setup, the game will take over half an hour to launch into main menu but once it's running it works perfectly and might be just an issue with my SSD bandwidth, setting the processes niceness seems to speed up the loading process
The Ubisoft overlay ruins the game's experience but it is manageable
Ubisoft overlay is awful, won't trigger sometimes
Random disconnect at the end of the round
May sometimes just always display a black screen if you ALT-TAB for too long.
