WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
you need to set the WINEDLLOVERRIDES to allow the game to load the Project Rome dinput8.dll
DXVK_ASYNC=1
i always use DXVK_ASYNC=1 with GE proton to prevent stuttering and use FSR for FPS games
DXVK_AYSNC=1
i always use DXVK_ASYNC=1 with GE proton to prevent stuttering and use FSR for FPS games. i also used Steam Tinker Launch to set up a custom inject command to launch CoD SCZ FoV Changer (https://github.com/marvinlehmann/CoD-SCZ-FoV-Changer/releases) to change the FOV
DXVK_ASYNC=1
FPS locked to 44 when using original exe. with a no dvd cracked exe this problem does not exist, finished the campaign at a locked 120 FPS

stuttering, seemingly most noticeable when near water in first level. otherwise no issues
starts & runs fine, only issue is bad fps drops into the 20s, seems to be mainly when near water
Game takes a while to start, but runs fine in the menu. starting the game, initially all seems fine apart from the terrible performance (10-20 fps), however aiming down sights reveals that the depth of field is broken, because simply the whole screen is blurred. I also tried with nod3d11, wined3d & no esync, but none made a difference
No longer even starts, BlackOps.exe shows up briefly in task manager, then shuts down
I installed WMP9 in order to get playback functionality for wmv files, which is needed to see the story cutscenes. Instructions here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/366#issuecomment-586774468
black screen on launch, just hit ESC after a couple seconds. I'm playing with D9VK, great performance, no issues so far
Installed WMP9 to the prefix for wmv playback support, enables cutscenes. Instructions for CoJ Gunslinger, work for this game too: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/366#issuecomment-586774468
seems to work out of the box with proton 6.3-5, hit esc or enter on black screen at startup
might be tricky to set the resolution correctly on first start
native version seems to have much worse performance than proton
newest Proton versions i could get it to work were Proton-5.13-6 and Proton-6.5-GE-2
native version seems fine, but using proton allows using larger resolution mod
mod: https://www.wsgf.org/dr/desperados-wanted-dead-or-alive/en some info to help choose a sensible resolution: https://steamcommunity.com/app/260730/discussions/0/1728701877526159514/
(Proton 4.2-1) Had to disable Uplay overlay first for the game to start, also I had 2 versions of far cry 3 blood dragon in uplay, for me i have to select the bottom one when uplay asks which one to launch. Uplay also continues running in the tray, making steam think the game is still running, so you have to first quit uplay before starting the game from steam again. Performance seems alright
works beautifully out of the box. only annoyance (frequent reconnects) happen on windows, too
i always use proton experimental, unless a release works specifically better
works out of the box in dx11 & dx12 on Proton 6.3-5
does not start with any version of Proton-GE
only playable with proton, native version seems broken
with the native version i could not get past the main menu. forced proton & enabled xbox controller configuration in steam controller settings, works perfectly now
wouldn't start out of the box, and also not with ProtonGE-7-55, but works just fine with Proton Experimental
installing dotnet40 with protontricks allows the settings menu to start, the rest of the game seems to run just fine
"protontricks 205950 dotnet40"
no issues at all, plays perfectly with my xbox360 controller
DXVK_ASYNC=1
- https://www.moddb.com/mods/randomguy7s-fix-compilation/downloads/randomguy7s-pinkiller-fix-compilation-v4 -> recommended by pcgamingwiki
- https://github.com/ThirteenAG/d3d9-wrapper/releases -> force windowed mode, and run with gamescope to fix tiny window problem
I always use GE proton with async dxvk for shooters, probably not necessary.
Forcing windowed mode with gamescope I believe is necessary on Proton versions >= 5.13
gamemoderun %command%
most recent update upgraded easy anticheat to a linux/proton compatible version, so now you can play on all servers, just like on windows
fails to launch with proton 9 version, including proton-ge. experimental works, and proton 8 works. i user GE-Proton8-32 because of FSR integration, but vanilla proton 8 works fine, too
DXVK_ASYNC=1
i always use DXVK_ASYNC=1 with GE proton to prevent stuttering and use FSR for FPS games. i also used Steam Tinker Launch to set up a custom inject command to launch widescreen fixer (https://github.com/dlrudie/WidescreenFixer/releases) to change the FOV
i believe i have the german low violence version which apparently is not up to date. will not start at all.
tried all kinds of proton versions and suggestions from other reports. i also remember having trouble with it on windows...
had to force proton for playing on steam deck because the native version has no controller support
dx 11 performance is good, however there is a steady static noise in the background while playing the game. UE Prerequesites will install with an ACL error, but game launches anyway. dx12 version did not start
performance is good, dx11 runs fine even though the UE prerequesites installer will complain about an invalid ACL every launch. dx12 won't launch. initially i had audio issues, which i fixed by doing: "I manually added "xaudio2_7"="native,builtin" to the end of the [Software\Wine\DllOverrides] section of Steam/steamapps/compatdata/499520/pfx/user.reg" i found this information at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/263, there are a couple other proposed tweaks there, the one above was enough in my case
the 3.16-5 updates to the audio system have fixed any audio issues, runs perfectly now
with recent proton versions (i'm using Proton 6.3-5) everything works out of the box
controller is not recognized if it disconnects during game, only after restarting game
DXVK_ASYNC=1
1440p, mix of high/ultra settings, using fsr from proton-ge to upscale to 4k, getting around 100fps
runs perfectly as long you don't move the mouse, during mouse movement it becomes a stuttery mess. play with a controller and you will be fine
no more issues with mouse movement causing stutters. runs well with d9vk too
I played through this game with no problems aside from a couple grapical glitches. no tweaks needed
a couple of grapical glitches, mostly some ropes looking wrong and a couple textures shimmering using d9vk. I played with next gen content on, maybe it's fine without it
i played this game start to finish without problems. no special launch options used
i only noticed that when loading a new area the game will have some lag spikes until all the shaders are compiled, then it will be smooth.
had trouble getting the game activated with uplay on my steam deck, but launching it on my pc first sorted that out, runs like a dream now
does not start
i also tried installing uplay into the wine prefix and launching that, but this game still wouldn't launch from uplay
used to work perfectly, then my mesa got updated to 19.1.1 and it won't start, giving "vkCreateDevice failed with error (VK_ERROR_FEATURE_NOT_PRESENT)". I downgraded the vulkan driver to 19.0.6 and it worked perfectly again. however i also got it working with mesa 19.1.1 installed by running the amdvlk driver, unfortunately the water surface is not rendered then
mesa 19.1.2 fixed the VK_ERROR_INITIALIZATION_FAILED error, runs perfectly, however the water surface is still not rendered unfortunately. i am certain it was working for me at some point, might also be a configuration change on my end though
works perfectly through proton, is unplayable on windows with my rx470
disabling/lowering screen space reflections & max ppt results in great performance at UHD
unplayable performance with my rx 470 on windows, which is a well known issue. runs very smoothly on proton, much better than on windows.
works much better than on windows, and audio issues i had have been fixed in 3.16-5
