Parfect

EAC finally fixed and playable on Linux! Decent experience with some tweaks. 45fps lock achievable with some dips
See my community "steam deck rice fields" layout. Right trackpad acts as mouse, clicking trackpad is melee. Left track radial menu with number / misc options (eg bayonet/bipod toggle, 1-6, voice channel selection)
Upper back buttons L4 & R4 are Q & E for leaning respectively. Lower back buttons L5 & R5 are Space (jumping) & CTRL / Crouch Toggle & Alt / Prone (long press) respectively
All in all once you get used to it it's a fairly playable experience.
Think some audio tracks / music not playing in background but this could be a game rather than a proton issue/
Some strange white-blue outlines and shading on certain items, barbed wire, trees etc - this isnt all the time but flickers at random
EAC no longer seems to kick you, I was able to play across 3-4 servers over a 6hr period no issues.
Finally playable on Steam Deck! The game is a decent experience, there are some minor graphical artifacts (random flickering, tree / barbed wire sometimes getting a weird outline / shading) but this doesn't prevent the game from being played. 40-50fps average achievable although some intense spaces see drops. Definitely look at community layouts though

works well out of the box
The game stutters horribly with uncapped FPS but I'm not sure if this is a Linux/Proton issue or just the game being terribly optimized (which it is), very smooth with FPS cap though
It appears they finally fixed EAC!

dev broke it again :( anticheat doing its issues again
dev broke the anti cheat again :( i get error "no authentication found (null type)" might be fixable, might not :(
i do hope they fix it, ive been itching to play this game with some of my buddies

No longer playable as of 4/22/25
An update today broke the recently fixed linux support. yippee

I tried using from my windows game drive didnt worked but when i did reinstalled it in my linux drive it works. EAC didnt bogged down.

After 5 years, I can finally play this game again!
This was the only game I really had to let go when switching to Linux - but no more! It plays perfectly right now.

Now it's finally working pretty well for me, i've been able to connect to the server i usually play with friends on windows and it's working.
Multiplayer now available!

Been waiting for this one for years. EAC finally works as of latest updates

gamemoderun %command% -nostartupmovies
Multiplayer works perfectly as of March 2025.
Proton 9 fails to start the game. Proton Experimental allows the game to run without further issues. No problems with multiplayer.
The %command% -nostartupmovies launch option skips the intro videos.

gamemoderun mangohud %command%
After 40 minutes to an hour, frame pacing would signficantly plunge when moving the mouse around. Was unable to identify a cause or fix.
Crashed a handful of times with no warning.
Dubiously playable with regard to the issues affecting me. At least EAC works now, I guess.

Runs excellent just like on Windows, but tabbing in and out is way more smooth. Using Wayland and NVIDA 570 Beta Driver.

Runs great!

gamemoderun %command%
most recent update upgraded easy anticheat to a linux/proton compatible version, so now you can play on all servers, just like on windows
fails to launch with proton 9 version, including proton-ge. experimental works, and proton 8 works. i user GE-Proton8-32 because of FSR integration, but vanilla proton 8 works fine, too

The intro video is mute (probably driver related), but it can be skipped anyway, sound comes back when reaching the menu.
The game got a recent patch purely to enable Proton support. All official servers work, no need to go to custom servers anymore.

It seems to be a Wayland issue, since I only encountered this when playing in Wayland, but not X11.
EAC has finally been updated, allowing Linux users to play on any server.
As of today (March 3, 2025), EAC has been updated. I was able to play on a variety of servers without being kicked. I have not played a full match on any server other than Powerbits, which already had a system to allow Linux players to play.

Ne marche pas. Un écran de chargement se lance, se quitte, et c'est tout.
Nope. Marchait avant, mais plus maintenant.

only tested known non-EAC server
This may be slackware specific but I had to adjust vm.max_map_count and vm.min.addr. Only proton 8 worked, proton 9 would not.
wouldn't start
Does not run on bazzite,

gamemoderun PROTON_USE_EAC_LINUX=1 %command%
Now you can finally play on some EAC servers, but not all. Some servers that allow Linux players. EU: Welcome to the rice fields / US: Powerbits (They have 3 servers) / There might be more other than those 4 servers.
The game works perfectly on Steam Deck, I have the same performance as on Windows, but I get kicked on almost every available server.

Only Welcome to the jungle and PBS let me stay in the match, PR servers throw EAC timeout after around 1 minute. I have not tried any other servers.

Most servers will not allow you to connect. Official servers will let you connect but boot you out after 30 seconds with an authentication error. PBS seems to work for US servers (powerbit? check the other reports)
On the newer versions of Proton, the game won't even launch

Trees are flickering might be due to the GPU drivers
Most servers don't let you connect except for welcome to the jungle in EU

none is fine
But I used a guide for fps improvement
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -d3d10
Some servers with EAC supports linux users NOT REQUIRED TO RUN THE GAME!!! Open ROEngine.ini Path:/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/418460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/My Games/Rising Storm 2/ROGame/Config/ROEngine.ini Find bUseTextureStreaming Change bUseTextureStreaming from true to false
Sometimes skybox begins flashing when looking through trees
Fps drops significantly when a lot of stuff's happening, e.g. explosions, flamethrower, napalm
Overall the game runs okay on Steam Deck, played a few games with only switching to an older proton version, connecting to an external monitor is strongly recommended.

Now you can finally play on some EAC servers, but not all. Some servers that allow Linux players. EU: Welcome to the rice fields / US: Powerbits (They have 3 servers) / There might be more other than those 4 servers.

quando vai carregar os servidores perde desempenho, até conseguir carregar
servidores oficiais onde tem mais jogadores não pode jogar por conta do anti cheat
o jogo funciona mas os servidores que funciona sem o anti cheat são sem graça

It works just fine with slight bugs when launching however this happened when running the game natively on windows.
Custom servers work just fine however game officially ran servers often fail to connect
The officially ran servers arnt great anyway so custom servers are just fine to still play the game like normal.

EAC servers will not work. Lots of servers without it that will though.
Use older proton, EAC servers will not work
won‘t start

Doesn't even run anymore
Game no longer get updates and Easy AC.

gamemoderun %command%
EAC does not include Linux, will recieve an authentication error while joining the game or shortly after. Can play on custom servers that do not have EAC as listed in the server browser.

You are only able to play on servers without EAC, you will get disconnected from servers which use EAC after a minute or so. Basicly all servers use EAC in the EU region.
Game is launching on Proton 8.0-5 and older but you are currently unable to play on any servers that are using EAC.
Only possible to connect to servers without EAC. Like MEGA servers, but don't it's known for injecting malwares. Instead use the server called "Welcome to the RIce fields"

Cannot play on EAC servers, Can only play on non-EAC servers. Quick Play did send me to a non-EAC server on it's own.
