Works perfectly fine out of the box, no tweaking needed.
End of mission takes a few seconds too long to trigger.

Bought on Epic and installed Using Heroic Games Launcher, changed absolutely nothing, seems to be playing quite alright. Don't have too much time to test it but initiall everything seems to be working as expected

Hard to navigate in character edit
At some point, impossible to play. Continous slowness in combat. Spent around 20h before drop it due technical problems.
Do not recommend in Deck
Launches with no changes and no crashes after a few hours of gameplay.
FPS держался около 30 (иногда и ниже), хотя на Windows 7 х64 fps не опускался ниже 60. А так вполне играбельно, прошел полностью.
This one works perfectly with proton.
Have played for 100+ hours, and have no experienced any crashes or any bugs. Pretty much perfect.
Forcing 7.0-4 made it work
Runs flawlessly on stock Proton. Text is a bit hard to read on Steam Deck, but playable there as well.
Found no issues
Runs perfectly fine.
barely played but no issues. seems like it's going to work as well on deck as everyone else is saying it works on pc
This game runs like a dream on linux / Proton.

Proton 6.3-8: Game crashes within 15 mins. Otherwise the game seems to run fine (a lil slower than on Win7, but absolutely playable).
Game crashes within 10-15 minutes of playing on Geoscape, didn't try it in Tactical.
Works fine with no issues. Just Click and go.
Works OOTB with Proton6.3-7
With the latest Proton and game updates, everything works including cutscenes.
Cinematic cutscenes now work perfectly with Proton 6.3
It seems that their update that patched Phoenix Point for Windows 7 fixed it with Proton 6.3. Before, I was unable to view any cutscenes, but now, as far as I can tell, cutscenes work fine with no issues.
With an out-of-the-box Proton 6.3 install, cutscenes are still broken, but instead of a black screen that you have to click to get past, the video now displays a color-bar screen for a couple of seconds while audio plays the actual audio of the cutscene. At that point, the cutscene cancels on its own without needing user action. Much better than the black screen that looked like the game has hung up (especially since not every key press skips the cutscene and continues on).
Actually getting the cutscenes to work still requires Proton GE. Despite many attempts, installing Media Foundation libraries to Proton 6.3 only resulted in the black screens making a comeback.

Make sure to pay close attention to the prerequisites for Glorious Eggroll. I didn't at first, thinking all I had to do was put the folder in compatibilitytools.d. I was wrong. At least with SparkyLinux, the prerequisites were only partially fulfilled at first boot... I think the issue was winetricks.
Important part within Glorious Eggroll's README.md...
PLEASE NOTE: There are prerequisites for using this version of proton:
You must have wine installed on your system You must have winetricks installed on your system You must have wine dependencies installed on your system. See https://www.gloriouseggroll.tv/how-to-get-out-of-wine-dependency-hell/ You must have vulkan gpu drivers/packages installed properly on your system. See https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/InstallingDrivers.md
GLORIOUS EGGROLL
Cannot play video
Cutscenes hang on black screen

The game did not run.
To fix message about 'DX11 could not switch resolution' I use prototricks/winetrick to use virtual desktop The logo of Phoenix point with loading showed. "It was progress!", I thought. But after finishing loading the game closed.
I installed Proton-5.21-GE-1. The message about 'DX11 could not ...' was waiting me... Again. Prototricks/winetrick was not able to help with this message. :-\

Media Foundation is needed to get videos/cutscenes running

I figured out how to install mods on Linux (look here for updated version https://github.com/Sheep-y/Modnix/issues/32):
- Download https://github.com/Sheep-y/Modnix/releases/download/v2.5.3/ModnixManualSetup_v2.5.3.7z (or a later version, make sure it's the manual setup one)
- Extract the files in the
Managed
folder in the 7z file (3 DLLs + 1 EXE) tosteamapps/common/Phoenix Point/PhoenixPointWin64_Data/Managed
(no files are replaced) - Extract the file
Modnix.exe
tosteamapps/compatdata/839770/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Phoenix Point/Mods
(you need to create some of those folders) - Install
mono
and basic assemblies, version does not matter - Open a terminal to
steamapps/common/Phoenix Point/PhoenixPointWin64_Data/Managed
- Run
mv System.dll System.bak
- Run
mono ModnixInjector.exe
- Run
mv System.bak System.dll
- Download mods from nexusmods.com and extract them in
steamapps/compatdata/839770/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/My Games/Phoenix Point/Mods
Like a dream
Previously I had black screens where there should be cutscenes but I was able to skip with ESC or a mouse click. I installed the media libraries and now have zero issues.
When in fullscreen, switching desktops left me unable to resume the game.
I tried running the game with Glorious Eggroll, and had some issues with pre-mission cutscenes (although story videos worked fine). I tried reverting to stock proton, and installed MediaFoundation as described in Nendoeldas's comment, which fixed the pre-mission cutscenes. Game works fantastically now.

The only thing currently broken in the default are the videos of the cutscenes, which you can bypass with some custom forks of Protons.
Used Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST
Current Proton (5.0-10) cannot make the videos work, GE custom Proton does. Both runs the game itself flawlessly otherwise.
Requires the Media Foundation installation. I've used the repo: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
cd into the cloned dir and execute WINEPREFIX="/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/839770/pfx" ./mf-install.sh
After that everything works just fine
Using Glorious Eggroll version of proton. Sometimes a black screen will appear before a mission begins, but pressing ESC starts the mission
Steam's standard Proton will not work. As mentioned elsewhere, need Glorious Eggroll Proton (or MF which I don't want to try to install) to get the videos to show.

You need "Media Foundation" to see the videos. Otherwise you'll have a black screen which you can skip by pressing ESC

Lack of videos can mean incomplete mission briefings, and reduce immersion. Other than that, everything runs fine.
Videos won't show.
Previous "borked" report was with older Proton version.

Crush in a minute after start
Install successful. Game exits in a minute after boot not showing anything. Tried 5.09 and 5.13. Tried "winetricks dxvk134" (from winehq). Exploring further...

Game runs perfectly fine with proton 5.13. Videos and cut-scenes not playing(Fix inside).
Thanks to other people comments, I was able to fix that easily using a script and everything works fine now.
The Issue is due to missing Media Foundation Libraries. Use this process to install them and fix cut scenes and videos not playing:
open a terminal console and run:
git clone https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
As explained in the README.MD all you need is to run mf-install.sh script and specify the WINEPREFIX, since I was only installing that into this game I used
WINEPREFIX="<STEAM FOLDER>/steamapps/compatdata/<GAME ID>/pfx" ./mf-install.sh
Replace with your steamfolder path GAMEID in this case is 839770
I will keep this fix into my toolbox pretty handy If I need it for other games.
with the standard proton no videos/story animation, it's still playable, and work quite well, but i suppose it's quite less enjoyable.
Proton-5.9-GE-5-ST
Initially I have tried with the standard proton, and all the videos/story animation were simply black screen skipped hitting Esc.
the game was still playable, and most of it work quite well, but i suppose without fix it's quite less enjoyable.
from previous experience with the game with Lutris/Epic store i know that it required "media foundation" but I was too tired to install it, so I tried a custom proton that i had already installed that should have some support for mf, and it worked flawlessly!
