Proton 6.19-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
Running stock Proton or Glorious Eggroll 6.18-GE-2, I had the same issues as other recent players - even at low resolution and minimal graphics, I had painfully low framerates. With the latest GE build (6.19-GE-2) I can run at full resolution and max settings with no issues.
Can't get past the "logging in" screen
Same as the previous notes - it gets stuck for a while on "Authenticating with Steam" and eventually fails with a generic error message.
When in fullscreen, switching desktops left me unable to resume the game.
I tried running the game with Glorious Eggroll, and had some issues with pre-mission cutscenes (although story videos worked fine). I tried reverting to stock proton, and installed MediaFoundation as described in Nendoeldas's comment, which fixed the pre-mission cutscenes. Game works fantastically now.
Sort of worked, but crashed to desktop when starting most missions.
Using the "Special Edition" launch option, I can play some of the training missions, but as soon as I try to start a "real" mission (either the historical missions or the story missions) the game immediately exits to desktop. The Classic launch option I get inconsistent results, but can't usually get past the initial menu. The CD-Rom edition launch option is very laggy and doesn't work any better than Classic.
I typically set things to Proton Experimental. That was the only tweak I did, and the game ran beautifully.
