If you're not much demanding with FPS, this game is playable in Deck. Even if the FPS are low, it is stable with no dips, in my experience.
Everything set to minimum. FSR for upscaling, balanced. There is no performance difference between balanced mode and performance mode.
Once the game starts, it is on a stable 30 FPS for about an hour. After that, performance become worse, around 25 in open regions.
The game is playable and stable enough to be enjoyable on Deck. But bear in mind that you need to be comfortable with 30 FPS and the need of restart the game every hour or two hours.
Really easy to install using proton, but controls in KBM are unconfortable, you should use a Controller.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8,dbghelp=n,b" %COMMAND%
It needed two mods: RE Engine and DLSS enabler. To install it, check the following video: https://youtu.be/5Sz74xSn4Ns?si=zUusfakHxzICALAL
Text is small in some moments, but usually is just fine.
On waking the Steam Deck, around 1/3 of the times the sound was not good.
The mod that allows you to play create some artifact with some doors. But nothing too bad.
Game is perfectly playable using the mod. It is not true that the game can reach 60FPS, is simply not true. But I can get around 30-35 pretty stable, with some dips to 25 in cities and at some forests. And the mod will not work on cinematics, so most cinematics will work on 20-25 most of the time.
Really straightforward, maybe a little bit problematic if you want to change graphic options, but I don't needed it.
A few hundreds (none of them graphical) of mods installed using Mod Organized 2 for Linux. It just works fine even if the last update broke some F4SE mods.
Small recommended changes for modding.
Enabled back buttons to add screenshots, quick save and other QoL options.
Limit TDP to 8 and limit FPS to 40. TDP limit could be needed to be removed in some exceptional moments, but overall I played around 70h and only a couple of hours without the limit were needed. I got around 5h of battery life only with this change.
I only tinker because of mods.
Really easy to install my GOG version using the default Hero Launcher install, even the DLC. If you liked FF: Tactics, this game is for you.
run com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl --no-gui --no-sandbox "heroic://launch/gog/1588524889"
With Hero Launcher I was able even to get my older savegames from PC, 100% recommended to use.
Amazing game and is perfect on Deck, it even have haptic support, something pretty uncommon. I hope the verified badge will arrive soon.
Hard to navigate in character edit
At some point, impossible to play. Continous slowness in combat. Spent around 20h before drop it due technical problems.
Do not recommend in Deck
Game just works out of the box. Controls are adapted enough for this kind of game. Is pleasant to play.
Limit to 40 FPS
GOG version installed with Proton. Game runs perfect with Proton 9 and I have no issue at all playing. Companiom's movement with controller had some issues with pathfinding, though, but very minors.
8W, limit to 30FPS. With that, battery about 4 hours.
Only the numbers for the countdown to death over the characters, but is readable on the GUI.
Often, after start, I need to re-select the pad using the touchscreen.
Accessing the DLCs were impossible in gaming mode and I needed to switch to desktop to make the travel the first time on each DLC.
I tried this game from GOG using Heroic. This doesn't need much tinkering, only use proton GE to see the starting videos and not much more. Has a few bugs, but no blocker after 70h (still finishing the game).
Both trackpads with radial menus
Opening maps dips to 20fps, some huge dips to 5 fps, previous a crash that blocks the SD and you need to restart the device
In the Sandbox game, every two-three hours there is a crash while travelling through the map.
Playing with Foundations DLC and 7.0/7.10.
In Steam Deck, force compatibility to the native installation. FSR on performance and everything on low. That is playable, but crashes often. For me is kinda ok, but is far from be a pleasant experience. Still, is playable and I will continue doing so.
I finish Timelines DLC without much problem, but Sandbox Mode is more problematic for performance.
Changes left trackpad behaviour
On big battles, slow downs (around 20FPS)
At the moment of writing this I played the game for around 60h. It plays nice. Not perfect and with some FPS downs to 20. But most time works around 30FPS.
The crashes of my previous report were fixed today in a Hotfix, right now there is no big problems with the game.
But, bear in mind, you MUST select the Linux version in the compatibility option in Steam, Default is Proton and the performance is not good there. Native version works fine.
