Given the distro, given good enough hardware it should just be completely usable out of the box. Others might need some modification.
Used for installing Ubisoft Connect.
I only used the lutris script to install ubisoft connect so that I could be able to launch the game.

Say about the game whatever you want, but the compatibility works
Steam installed Ubisoft for me. Still needed an account tho

Install Ubisoft Connect with ProtonTricks, you may need to launch Ubisoft Connect exe from within the file explorer after it is installed first for Trackmania to recognize it!!
Sometimes car shadows will just become squares?
If you have a non-16:9 monitor, the game will sometimes stretch randomly even when set to the correct resolution. Changing to an ingame resolution with a 16:9 ratio can avoid this.
Sometimes the game will not recognize the mouse, you will need to restart.
Some have said the game works ootb, while I had to install Ubisoft Connect with ProtonTricks. So it depends on what happens for you ig

Complains that Ubisoft Connect isn't installed
Installed Ubisoft Connect: protontricks 2225070 apps ubisoftconnect

Sometime when i tab out of the game the keyboard does not work. after restarting the game it works again
I was also able to install OpenPlanet and a lot of plugins with it
Works out of the box with Proton

No Ubi Connect issues at all.
Game completely freezes occasionally in multiplayer settings
Game crashes on Arch with Lutris during initial loading screen. Some env can load it but screen freezes every few seconds.
Not playable with lutris, AMD dGPU on Arch

Primarily runs well
Sometimes launches in a window instead of fullscreen, but otherwise no noticable issues running and playing the game.
After closing the game, Steam still thinks the game is running. This is because Steam is detecting the Ubisoft launcher which continues to run until manually closed. Manually closing the Ubisoft launcher makes Steam stop thinking the game is running.

Did not have to do anything. Just play.
Two times controller bailed out. Maybe problem was switching tasks.. dunno. Rare though.

Ran fine 40fps on high/med, but lowered gfx to get highr frames maybe consisrent 60 (or higher) possible (maybe - untested)
Good game and runs well on deck!

Worked flawlessly out of the box, just Install and hit Play
The game launches through the Ubisoft launcher, but when playing through Steam it automatically signed in to my connected account and launched the game with no configuration or tinkering necessary.

gamescope -W 3440 -H 1440 -f -- %command%
Gamescope problems
The game works fine out of the box, but I cannot for the life of me get it to work with Gamescope. The Uplay launcher starts, and once it closes, the game itself closes and I'm returned to the desktop.

Literally not worth playing. Couldn't make it through Cup of the Day. Gonna play on Windows.

installed openplanet via winetricks, then BetterChat plugin via OP
Stutters for 2-3 seconds every 4-5 minutes.
Computer completely froze for about a minute while I was alt+tabbing and doing other things.
Ubisoft Connect didn't install, so I had to use the GrowTopia workaround.
The stuttering will completely ruin runs. The full computer freeze makes it totally unplayable. The UbisoftConnect workaround means I can't recommend this to friends (things need to "just work"). Installing OpenPlanet required a workaround (going through WineTricks, plus modifying launch options), which is not ideal.

Installation of openplanet (https://openplanet.dev/) was a trivial task using protontricks.

Game ran out of the box great, haven't tried installing OpenPlanet yet though. Some minor framerate issues but nothing disruptive.
Very slight stutter, hardly noticable. Marginally worse performance than Windows.

Wouldnt start without the ubisoft launcher, which it refused to start with even when the launcher was installed using Lutris. The fix was to download the free steam game Growtopia which for some reason has a ubisoft launcher script which works for trackmania as well. Works flawessly oherwise, might even be smoother than on windows with the same machine.
Got openplanet working by launching the installer with wine and copying the trackmania game folder to a visible place, install openplanet on the copied folder, and then paste it back to its original position.

DualSense controller disconnected a couple times during gameplay. Possibly after Alt+Tab. Game restart required to resolve.
Good performance, comparable to Windows.
Installed OpenPlanet by adding it as a non-Steam game.

A few hurdles getting going, but as this is my first Linux/Proton game I'm quite happy I could get it going w/o getting too into the weeds.
Only fullscreen worked, borderless fullscreen would crash on loading into a map
Invisible mouse when not in true fullscreen mode
Frequent crashes when not in fullscreen. In fullscreen, freezes occasionally when clicking on second monitor
Ubisoft Connect did not install automatically, and the game would not start initially. Had to install Growtopia (free Ubisoft title) on Steam, which did install Ubisoft Connect, and I could then launch Trackmania

Worked and ran fine out of the box (base game, I have not tried any plugins). Ubisoft Connect appeared to be bundled with the game and did its thing with no intervention required.

Works completely fine without tinkering. Launch options are only required if trying to run with the OpenPlanet plugin loader

For some reason, after a recent update, ubisofts launcher refuses to run on X11, and works only on wayland. runs completely fine on wayland though

Add an issue about Ubisoft connect not installed. Installed it with proton tricks and the game start
Crappy Ubisoft launcher

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
tinkering required to properly hook openplanet plugin manager

Says something about needing ubisoft connect, running the installer doesn't work.
Real done borked.

Game doesn't work. Installed Ubisoft Connect externally, as it wouldn't launch without it. Steam says "playing" and eventually gives up.
protontricks-launch --appid 2225070 ~/Downloads/UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe
Do not recommend, unfortunately.

Only had to use Lutris to install Ubisoft Connect.

Launched the game through ubisofts' launcher which was installed through Lutris. And made sure it would not install to my Windows drive.
Ran great and I could play singleplayer and online

Not really tinkering, but as Ubisoft Connect was crashing the game at startup, I had to upgrade Proton. Apparently in Steam I've been using for years an old version of proton (6). I had to go to Steam->Settings->Compatibility, and in "Run other titles with:" I set the latest stable (9.0-3), and after it downloaded, Ubisoft Connect no longer crashes at startup.
in windowed mode, the window appeared in my small monitor. When I moved it to my big monitor, it was jumping from top left corner to the bottom right corner. Putting it in full screen fixed it.
Would connect to my uPlay account and sync with my PS5 progression automatically. Works awesome.

only keyboard input works, no mouse support at all after some playing.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
after about 5 mins of playthrough, the mouse completely stopped working, and i cant even get into input settings because its hidden behind a button that my keyboard doesnt have. no combination of inputs that ive tried has managed to get me into it. ive tried different versions of proton and they seem to have the same issue. ive tried restarting the game and stuff, only for the issues to reocurr. the actual game itsself works fine, but its impossible to properly edit settings or do anything.
For Openmediaplanet use following launch option:

Occaisional audio crackling
Initially it launched into windowed borderless, I switched it to fullscreen, but only the area of the screen occupied by the original window actually showed content. After hitting the super key, the issue was resolved.

DXVK_ASYNC=1 gamescope -w 1440 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -S stretch -- %command%
Worked out of the box using GE-Proton9-11. Using gamescope to enable usage of a custom resolution and scaling on Wayland. The only slight issue I can think of, is when my controller disconnects and reconnects and it doesn't reconnect in-game. So I have to restart the game. But this also happened on Windows, so it could be a game-specific issue.

gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Flawless.
