Perfect OOTB.
Albeit very rare, there was occasionally some crackling for about one second on launch.
Game runs a dream even when heavily modded. See note about occasional audio crackle.
Runs well OOTB. Performance is consistent. Feels native!
Ran flawlessly, exactly the same as my Windows install. Feels native! Had no issues running modded multiplayer + many CrewBoom characters either.
Worked perfectly with no tweaking.
Everything works perfectly out of the box!

The moon/sun specifically would occasionally flicker in the skybox.
Borderless windowed refuses to expand across the screen, leaving my bottom and top panels exposed and the game at a weird aspect ratio. Exclusive Fullscreen behaves the same upon launch, but fixes itself by tabbing out and back in.
Aside from the mentioned borderless window bug and minor texture flicker in the skybox, everything else is perfect. Ubisoft Connect installs and runs itself with no problems, however does not quit itself upon closing Trackmania, and must be closed manually either by killing the process or quitting it via the System Tray (I think this behaviour is the same as Windows, so no marks against Proton).
Launch options are for OpenPlanet, a plugin system for Trackmania. OpenPlanet also installs and works perfectly fine, albiet a little more involved to set-up as opposed to it's Windows counterpart.
Game runs well after disabling "High Quality Shaders". Be aware of high CPU usage during caching.

CPU Usage spikes to almost 100% during loading and for a little while during the start of a mission. Presumably it's caching or something and it may get better in time. Disable "High Quality Shaders" for a decent FPS boost.
After a tiny bit of tinkering, the game runs well. Outside of the high CPU usage during loading screens, and low frame rates during the start of the mission (which may improve in time, after a cache has been built), I have better overall performance on Proton than I do on Windows 10.
