The game boots, but only just to shows an error message saying that Wine, Proton and Steam Deck are not supported.
Works great, no complaints.
Might be more of an issue with Wayland, but I have to focus on an alternative window at least once after an initial focus on the game to prevent the cursor from leaving its window. It's most noticeable if you have a multi-monitor setup or play in windowed mode.

Generally, you wouldn't need to do anything special to play it. But if you wanted to use Openplanet, you'll need the aforementioned launch options for it to work.
You might encounter issues booting through the UC launcher at some point. Changing to a different Proton version often solves it, preferably Experimental or Hotfix.
The game is rather demanding, and even low settings drain the battery quite quickly.
The game runs, but is barely reaching 60 fps even on lower settings.

Text in general is a little small, but readable if you get a little closer to the Deck.
Graphics needed to be a little lowered, but even then it doesn't consistently draw 60 fps.
