Up until you want to use voice recognition it works. Lacking this is an extra step that must be jumped through.

Voice Recognition is not working.
Gold rating for a game with an important fuction not working on linux is a little high. Voice recogintion is the only element that does not work under Linux.

Works perfectly so far
No issues in online multiplayer session with two friends
There might have been one instance (in a 3.2 hour session) were the game slowed down for a couple of seconds, but that might also have been caused by something executing in the background

had some issues with ping, but after connecting my VPN the latency improved.
Game ran well, didn't have any crashes or major issues. I was able to play online with friends using in game voice chat with no problems( just had to pick the right mic in the game settings).

When getting into a game it works for like 5 minutes and then crashes. I experienced this on steam deck and desktop.

Works just fine with Proton Experimental. Voice worked just fine for me, no further tinkering required.
Proton GE 8-15 caused the game to crash within a few minutes of playtime. Proton Experimental worked just fine, even with voice support.

Plays super well, in game the voice recognition doesn't work but it's really not required to play the game. Did the weekly challenges.
I hosted and we never had any issues.

My saves were seamingly deleted multiple times, even though they are backed up on the Steam Cloud, unknown as to why or how to fix it.
VR still does not work. it will crash on startup and I cannot find a way to make it work.
Sometimes I became unable to hear other players through voice chat during gameplay, although it is rare.
VR is broken, it works in flatscreen, I've had better experience on Proton-GE but the bleeding edge proton experimental works just as well.

Voice recognition does not work so you need to play with friends running Windows. I am mainly writing this report because the PLATINUM status is very misleading because without voice recognition the game is not fully playable when doing single player.
No voice recognition
You need other players with Windows to be able to really play the game, i mark this as bad because you are too dependent on other people's operating system to be able to really play the game
I want to ask people in the linux community so set the bar a little higher when testing games with proton. A game should not the the label PLATINUM when essential stuff is not working and when you need to rely on other people to play the game. This leads to wrong expectations when people only read the compatibility label.
FPS hovering around 25 while on Windows I'd get around 50.
Was able to play with my windows friends for long periods of time. Voice recognition requires Cortana and does not work on Linux, so have at least one windows friend for talking to the Mejai! Although there's normally enough other evidence to where you can still figure out the Mejai without voice recognition.

You cannot speak to the ghosts on Steam Deck. It says the device is not capable of speech recognition.
Changed trackpad click to Left Mouse Button to select menu options.
Microphone input frequently had to be manually switched when changing scenes in game
I played on a DS4 controller. I had to set the DS4 controller as the 2nd controller for the game to pick up input from the controller
Performance was in the 20fps range at times, no matter the visual settings I selected.
One time, my whole lobby was stuck on a black screen. This does not seem to be a Linux/Proton exclusive issue.
Lobby crashed one time for all participants (Windows included)
Performance was not great but it's a good time with friends and multiplayer works if you're willing to let someone else speak to the ghosts and fiddle with your audio settings frequently.
Crashes on launch when attempting to play in VR
I have tried many different versions of Proton, including the custom version listed by another report. If no headset is detected in SteamVR, it will successful launch
The VR system in use is a HTC Vive Original, running on the Sway wayland compositor
The game is a 10 out of 10 and works flawlessly on Linux
Microphone input working for friends talking but for ghost's talking is not working, i really don't care because i play with friends and them speak with ghost

AI 'voice recognition' is not functional yet, but this was not game-breaking at all.
The tutorial gifs/videos were broken, with a strange pink texture and crunchy audio.
Perfect multiplayer! Not a single issue, the in-game voice chat was crystal clear, and infact the mic filters make the game feel extremely immersive, top quality multiplayer / COOP mode!
This is one of the most hassle-free indie games I've played on Linux through Proton: the performance was top-notch, without hitches or any gameplay bugs, the CO-OP is immersive, the networking is great even on bad connections like mine.
Thanks to the glorious FSR, I managed to drop my GPU usage down to 50% while maintaining a whopping 90+ FPS playing this game, on high graphics settings, with a slightly smaller (upscaled) resolution.
I do not have a single major complaint about the game, if you'd like a coop horror game on Linux, this is your bet!
Voice recognition seems borked, otherwise runs perfectly
The transmitter, which uses Voice Recognition, didn't recognize my inputs. In-game voice however works perfectly.
I did have a few gifs used in the tutorial not show up, a windows friend told me what they were but it wasn't major for gameplay.
Overall game plays great! very good Phasmo alternative
dont think the in game voice to the ghost is working like Phasmo but voice to other players is fine.
Runs perfectly out of the box
Although there are some severe performance issues, it is still enjoyable if you're playing with friends.
Game runs very poorly and inconsistently. Using ultra preset results in the same performance as very low. FPS will sometimes just drop down to 30 and typically won't raise until a restart.
After a recent patch (as of 16/Sep/2021), it stopped working in VR even with gofman's patches. So I created a new build of my custom proton capable of running it, with the help of EsdrasTarsis who made the code patch.
This is a new report because the game stopped working in VR after the last one. My original report had this: "For VR, there is a series of patches from Paul Gofman from Valve that fix VR initialization. They will be eventually integrated into regular Proton but as of 6.3-6 they still aren’t. But you can use my build of proton that runs the game (and a few others): https://github.com/Patola/wine/releases/tag/protola_6.3_rbespbgvwd -- before doing that, please see my history of contributions here and in github to ensure I am a reliable person, you should not download and run random stuff from the internet. If you uninstall the game, set my proton build for this game, and reinstall it, it should work correctly in VR. Tested with the Valve Index." -- what changed now is that the game started requiring Windows.Perception.Spatial.Surfaces.SpatialSurfaceObserver to work, so EsdrasTarsis implemented stubs for this and a few other arrangements (like a default actions.json for the manifest), the game runs again. You can get the new build, along with full instructions, here: https://github.com/Patola/wine/releases/tag/protola_6.3-6-6_rbespbgvwd
Did not work for me using GE, switch to 6.3 with no issues.
Game runs great out of the box with regular proton, but not in VR.

Perfect!
I've only barely tested it, but thus far it's been flawless with Proton 6.15 GE. I doubt the GE version is necessary.

The game runs very well with Glorious Eggroll Proton 6.16 GE1, turn off volumetric lighting.
Volumetric lighting causes significant performance hit.
The game itself is horrifying, and not too difficult to get immersed in.
When loading into a map, I noticed that the area around the campsite is laggier than the actual tomb, so gameplay shouldn't be too hindered by that. I had a consistent 60-ish fps in the tomb, around 30 at the camp above the tomb.
Ran with Feral Gamemode.
