I know, people were using Proton. This broke when I tried to use Proton, and played normally when I set it to use Steam Linux Runtime 1.0
Works well. Input is slightly clunky and some text is small but it's definitely playable.
Some text is quite small
Trackpad or touchscreen are the only ways to play. Either work fine.

Lots of square boxes in many places that have text. It might be possible to play further, but it ruins the experience.
If you are playing on a desktop or other non-touchscreen device, you're going to be fine. Touch doesn´t work when trying to slide cards
Touch doesn´t work when using a sliding gesture
Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool to not use the native Linux version
easy to set up but the native verson is not fully supported, forced proton and it's great
developers stopped developing the native linux version. with proton it works flawlessly. tested with experimental and with 6.3.8
Note: The Linux native version does not work for online play. The Windows version via proton works as expected.
Enforce use of Proton
You need to manually enable SteamPlay or else it uses the old (buggy, unsupported) Linux build!
Mainly for kids, but the game played as well as it does on Windows

Minor text issues, but perfectly playable
Some missing text, but it has no effect of playability
Works perfectly fine. Since 5.13-6, it also works with D3D10enabled, no tweking isnecessary anymore.

Worked after I installed the vulkan drivers for Mesa. Before that, the start screen loaded but the game crashed when I tried to play.
For Mesa (Amd and Intel), I had to run the following in a terminal window:
sudo apt install mesa-vulkan-drivers mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386

Missing texts makes the game difficult to play out of box
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9

Some text is missing that would make the game difficult to play if you are not intimately familiar with the rules. However, this can be bypassed by adding the launch option PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9
The native Linux build is out of date. It functions flawlessly offline, but cannot connect online. Using Steam Play with the launch option mentioned is a completely flawless experience.
Game works perfectly now with latest version. Labels appear perfectly with buttons now.
It crashed at first. Restarted the game and it worked perfectly ever since.
Without the launch string PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9 the game plays fine but a few pieces of text do not display properly. With that launch option set the game plays perfectly.
Works perfectly. For multiplayer to work you must "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatability tool" and select proton. I also used PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9 in the launch options. Seems multiplayer support has been dropped for the native linux version.
Note that for some reason the developer has left the native Linux version online, however online play has been disabled in that version for a while; if you want online play you must force the Windows version. I also had to force Proton 4.11-13 as newer versions were giving me issues.

Can't log in for online playing
Couldn't log in for online playing using: a) native linux version b) vanilla steam play c) steam play with options PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9. When I used steam play I couldn't even make the "log in" window show up when hitting "login" in settings.
Proton version works perfectly with no issues. Tried multiplayer with some friends, and had no issues.
run game with -force-d3d9

Ran great with online play after disabling D3d11 using the command PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9

Everything works when ran with PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% -force-d3d9

Forced usage of windows version; fonts works fine with PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
; played singleplayer matches for 5h

Updated report: Using forced proton version, use the launch options, PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% this fixes the missing fonts, and also fixes some performance issues on certain maps. Using that the game is stable and works but still some minor issues like HOF not displaying properly .

Using force proton in new steam beta as the Linux port of this is badly borked and crashes. Proton runs fine but ALL Fonts are missing so you cannot see any in game tect, which is a nuisance. (its the same if you run it in wine, no fonts)

Forced usage of windows version; Texts are missing, you have to play the linux version first to know what they mean; You can’t see how many cards your opponents have

You need Proton to run Ticket to Ride and play online! Reason: Since an update in 01/2018 no online games are possible with the Linux version anymore. As Linux support has been abandoned for this game, you can't login to play online (also Windows users couldn't, if they didn't update to a version, which doesn't exist for Linux). So you are forced to play as single player against stupid bots or in hot seat mode, which has bugs (others see your tickets).

The game runs natively. Don't need Proton to run Ticket to Ride.

Couldn't manage to make it install through Proton either. It would be great if there was a way to force a game to install the Proton version even if a native Linux version exists (because Linux versions can sometimes be broken, such as in this case).
