Played through the whole game, no problems. Worked out-of-the box with Proton 8.0-3.
As mentioned in other posts, mf-install and mf-installcab are BOTH required to load videos and progress through an early checkpoint in the game. Additionally, in order to get SHiFT to work (required for online play) you will need to initially use Proton 4.11-13. Here is a summary of what I did to get everything working.
- Launch game using Proton 4.11-13 to get SHiFT working initially.
- Launch game using Proton 5.0-4 to create pfx folder.
- Run mf-install script (as described in other posts).
- Run mf-installcab script (as described in other posts).
Everything worked perfect for me after this, and the online play seems to be working as well. (Lobbies load, and functionality seems to be there, although I haven't tried to play coop yet. I will update after I try.)
When traveling to a new area, it takes maybe 30 seconds to get all the textures loaded in. During this time performance is pretty bad. After things are loaded, it runs great.
Works great with Proton-5.21-GE-1. No longer has the problem where areas initially load very slowly.

Played for about an hour. Works well so far with Proton Experimental and NVIDIA 455.38 drivers.
Using an NVIDIA 1650 Super with 4 GB VRAM, I had to turn the overall graphics settings (and textures) to medium in order to prevent the game from crashing after character creation.
Volumetric fog artifacts, especially notable around streetlights and around characters standing in front of a light source. I disabled volumetric lighting by creating the file "Cyberpunk 2077/engine/config/platform/pc/user.ini" with the following lines:
[Developer/FeatureToggles]
DistantVolFog = False
VolumetricClouds = False
VolumetricFog = False
[Rendering/AsyncCompute]
UseExperimentalVolFog = False
I haven't been able to test the Heist mission with this new GE Proton, but with Proton Experimental the No-Tell Motel and Kabuki plaza did not render properly.
After playing for 4 hours with Proton-6.1-GE-2, no crashes with NVIDIA 460.32.03 drivers.
I have the overall graphics settings at "medium" (with screen space reflections disabled) and the texture quality set to "low." Have not tested "The Heist" mission with this version of Proton, but everything else has been working fine in my 4 hours of testing. The only launch option I use is --launcher-skip.
CP2077 v1.3 runs well with the current version of Proton Experimental. Also, the interior of the No-Tell Motel finally renders properly.
I used to get somewhat regular crashes with other versions of Proton, but I haven't experienced any crashes or performance degradation in the one hour I have tested with this version of Proton Experimental.
Game averages around 100 FPS on High settings 1920x1080 using Proton-5.4-GE-3 and NVIDIA 440.66.07 Beta drivers. Only one single crash in the 4 hours I have played. Seems to be working perfectly.
Works great with Proton 5.0-7. Just install and play!
If the game is set to run in true fullscreen it would occasionally (maybe 10% of the time) start up in a sort of off-centered windowed mode with awful performance and graphical artifacts/blinking. Running the game in "borderless windowed" seems to have fixed this problem. In my testing, the "borderless windowed" mode actually behaves like a true fullscreen mode in terms of performance.
Since update 1.1, the game runs great out-of-the-box with Proton 5.0-7.

Online multiplayer and Xbox One controller work with Proton Experimental [bleeding-edge]. Game runs with all high settings.
Played many cooperative instances successfully.
Multiplayer did not work with Proton 7.0-1 or regular Proton Experimental. The [bleeding-edge] branch of Proton Experimental must me enabled for multiplayer to work.
Works out-of-the-box with Proton 8.0-5.
Thin, white border around the edge of the screen.
Playing with friends and quickplay are working reliably.
Does not work with Proton 6.3-8, problems with Origin install and getting the game to launch. Proton 5.13-6 seems to work perfect.
Played with a couple friends online and everything worked great!
I tried Proton 6.3-5, Proton Experimental, Proton 6.15-GE-2. The online multiplayer only works with Proton 5.13-6.
The game works great in Proton 6.3-6, but protontricks is necessary for the online multiplayer to function.
Use this command: protontricks 2310 win7
DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 gamemoderun %command%
Using these launch options with Proton 7.0-4 did not alleviate the massive stutters. This is the only setup that has given me a smooth and enjoyable experience with this game so far.
The re-release works perfect with Proton 8.0-3.
After a few minutes of play, the textures will begin to disappear. This problem was fixed by simply using the in-game menu to force a 60 FPS cap (rather than variable).
