LD_PRELOAD="" %COMMAND%
The framerate starts to dip randomly, usually after a couple of hours of play. The game must be restarted to solve the issue.
Small desync, overall pretty good even with 4 players
The game is perfectly playable but the framerate slows randomly to a crawl after a couple of hours. Strangely enough it only happens when playing with mouse & keyboard. When switching to controller mode, it disappears.
I didn't encouter this problem after launch what leads me to think that the issue was likely introduced by or soon after Patch #7.
As suggested by another user, adding the following Steam launch option solved the issue for me : LD_PRELOAD="" %COMMAND%
Voice recognition to order your allies around works poorly. Not sure if this is a Linux or game issue.
Stuttering due to shader caching. Solved by using the launch command: DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Videos not displayed
The game itself launches and runs with GE-Proton9-21 but the videos wouldn't work properly (only sound, no pictures).
I tried to solve the issue by applying the following Protontricks workaround to no avail: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/15pee9k/comment/k9z58q8/ Ultimately, I bruteforced the issue and used FFMPEG to convert all .wvm videos in the Movie and Movie2 folders to .mp4, a format actually supported by GE-Proton or Experimental.
If you try to apply the same solution, don't forget to remove the original .wmv from the folders and rename the new files extension to *.wmv so that the game can find these back when calling the videos. Restoring the original files can be done by simply verifying the game's files in Steam.
Works perfectly OOtB but cannot enable raytracing with my RTX 3080, what is a tad disappointing.
Cannot select Nvidia-specific graphical options in-game while launcing the game with my RTX 3080 (DLSS, Raytracing). Only the AMD options are selectable.
VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 %command%
Heavy tinkering needed to make it work due to Easy Anti-Cheat shenanigans. The game wouldn't launch by itself and needed the following steps to work:
- Install GE-Proton7.24
- Adding the following command line to the game's steam launch options: VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 %command%
- Delete the 1245620 compact folder then restart Steam to force the reinstallation of EAC, DirectX, etc.
DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 %command%
Didn't experience any issues on proton experimental but, As mentionned by others, the game crashes when reaching the end credits, locking you out of the post-game.
Use GE-Proton7.49 of higher to work around the end credit crash. Disabling SteamCloud saving temporarily might also help.
No sound on animated intro and cutscenes on the native build. Switching to Proton expermiental fixed the issue.
The game is unplayable beyond a certain point.
The game always freezes at the exact same point when reaching the top of the stairs in the forest shack a few minutes into the game. I tried multiple versions of Proton -both mainline and GE- with multiple game configurations to no avail.
Pefectly playable when one's getting around the launch and shader issues. Not quite an out of the box experience though.
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Game was stuttering due to shader caching. Solved by using the launch command: DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
Game won't launch when isntalled on my HDD (Firecuda 120). Switching the game to my SSD solved the issue.
Once more Mane6 manages to do better than AAA devs by gracing us with a flawless native Linux port. This game deserves more recognition.
Performance is perfect on the native linux build provided by Feral Interactive, with an average of 100FPS in battle and on the map on ultra settings. On Proton, the average falls around 60 FPS with the same settings.
The native Linux build by Feral Interactive is keeping its promises but it comes with a big caveat: one can only play online with other Linux users. Since there's no cross-platform support, people are forced to use the subpar Proton version to be able to play with their friends on Windows.
The game crashed on OG version (missing executable,) and I couldn't launch the game with any Proton versions, experimental and EG included (java error or the launcher stayed hanging).
Steps to fix the issue:
- Switched to the the beta branch which is Linux native: Steam → Library → Vampire Survivors → ⚙ (Manage) → Properties… → Betas. This should create the launcher.sh file in the game's directory.
- Deactivate Forced compatibility through steamplay: Steam Library → Right click → Properties → Compatibility → Uncheck the checkbox
- Edited the launcher.sh file by adding the --no-sandbox command at the end of the line: The LD_PRELOAD=; "./VampireSurvivors" --no-sandbox
Overall a good experience with a few quirks to work around.
Heavy artifacting happening randomly when going back from the menus (map, character sheet, etc.) but only in (borderless) windowed mode. No issue when full-screen is enabled.
Cannot delete previous save files form the game menu.
