My only issue was occassionally there would be stuttering with many vehicles in garage. Alt-Tabbing out and back in oddly seemed to fix it.
Very rare crashes, maybe once every several hours of gameplay?
Tried all of the different tweaks, no such luck. Game "launches" and steam recognizes it as running but no window or any sign of life is seen. Then within about 10 seconds or so it goes back to being not-played.
Game starts and opens a black window; then immediately generates a crash report and asks if you would like to send the error log.
Game opens a black window and immediately begins creating a crash report, then asks if you would like to submit the report. Testing with other proton version as well with same result.
Performance seemed well on par from what I remember back when I used windows
It runs, but the entire screen is black on launch until you alt-enter. Alt-enter or alt-tab occasionally causes crashes.
Game just launches to a black screen. Have to switch desktops to get htop open and kill the exe.
Developers abandoned linux port yet cannot install windows version through steam, nothing happens when launch attempted
I envy those saying it runs fine with 5.13, because the game is absolutely unplayable for me
Unable to change graphics settings without crashing, so locked at whatever the game decides to initially launch at
Windows 1440p High Preset: 76 FPS average Linux 1440p Low Preset: 20 FPS average
i.e. borked and unplayable
Any change to graphical settings crashed the game
The game runs fine and I haven't noticed any crashing or game wrecking glitches; however, the performance is not at all consistent. I've had fun with it, and I plan to keep playing, but every 30 or 40 seconds the framerate tanks and sometimes even hangs at 1 or 2 for a split second. This issue is not related to graphical demand because it seems to have no relation to the action on the screen. If I just stare at a wall I see the hiccuping too.
The regular crashes are not a complete deal breaker, but quite irritating when you want to play for more than an hour
Lights (i.e. street lamps) seem to emit an amorphous blob, like 2D jelly
PS4 with steam controller mapping, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Haven't been able to reproduce what makes the controller work or not
Almost guaranteed to crash every 30-60 minutes, however if it's stable past the hour mark, it usually lasts for several more hours
Square Enix server connection randomly doesn't work, which means some of the collectables are un-obtainable
Cannot get it to load, no black screen or anything, the process starts and then stops. Tried the dotnet stuff mentioned in one of the Gold reports to no avail.
5.4-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Textures seem to very slowly load in after cutscenes, some appear to stay at a "distant terrain" quality resolution
The game will randomly run at sub 20 FPS, and never reaches over 45. This is completely independent of graphical settings. I've tried toggling all the options, different resolutions, and Potato/Medium/High presets. All of them perform identically.
No sign of life at all aside from some idle processes in htop that are assigned to steam/proton
The constant performace degredation, atrocious microstuttering, and frequent epileptic fits makes it impossible to play
Random flickering and blurring of things
Horrible microstuttering. Frame times jump to 100+ ms every minute or so
I would regularly warp up and down and lose complete control of my character. Changing view directions would sometimes drop me down under the world.
Steam launch button turns blue (running) briefly, then within 1-2 seconds returns to green (launch).
Controller does not work therefore game is unplayable
It did not run the first time immediately after install, but after that it worked perfectly
The game launches and runs beautifully.. but crashes to desktop at EXACTLY 1 minute and 5-7 seconds. This crash is repeatable across all puzzles and even when no user input is performed at all.
Game runs fine once you get past the main menu screen
The main menu is a mess of artifacting and glitches
"It just works"
The first 30-45 seconds of driving after first installing did have some weird stuttering, but never saw it again afterwords. Others have pointed out it could be to do with shader compilation?
When launching the game, you will get a completely black screen that seems to not respond at all. You have to press space once you hear the background sound to get the game to the main menu. After that, works just fine!
Aside from forcing experimental proton, the game runs as if it's native on the platform, honestly shockingly well considering this is day 1
Very sporadically there will be some artifacts that pop up, lines across part of the screen, small squares of noise for a split second. Nothing lasts longer than a couple frames at most.
Very rare crashes, once in 5 hours
Proton Experimental on AMD hardware will have you thinking you're playing on a native build!
In order to get the game to run fullscreen, I had to add the '-fullscreen' flag to the launch options. I also had to run the game at 4k because 1440p is not an option.
Fullscreen had to be forced with the -fullscreen flag, and alt-tabbing would either crash or force the game into a 1080p window until reset
Controller detected by steam, but not by the game in any way (ps4 wired and steam controller wireless)
After 1ish hour of gameplay, horrible mouse stuttering as explained in performance below
After about an hour mouse input became nauseatingly stuttery, the framerate held a solid 90-100 but when I turned the character the mouse moved in chunks of about 15-20 degrees
Sort of discouraging to see so many platinum ratings.. it runs fine, and I'm sure with some more tinkering and googling I'll get it to be near seamless. But at best I'd say this is a Gold with caveats, or a very solid silver. Not platinum at all.
The game itself runs flawlessly, but like others have mentioned, if you run in fullscreen the mouse will eventually go crazy. Play in windowed and you're good to go.
It's early access, so I can't say with 100% certainty that the bugs I saw were not related to proton. That being said, I purchased the game, installed it, then just clicked play and got a single 3 hour sitting of gameplay without a single issue. If steam didn't tell me it was going to launch with proton, I would have thought it was a native app.
