Great experience, modded or not. Near zero lag at all. Would recommend modding if you plan to use the level editor.

Installing Custom Keybinds mod using Geode is recommended for anyone using the level editor.
Back buttons do not register, you must map them through Steam

I installed megahack like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY2V5hKIqD4&t=15s

I installed the megahack using protontricks
In order to install the megahack and have the tab keybind work, you need to override the DirectInput DLL using wine as such __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAiiD=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="XInput1_4=n,b" %command%
after doing this it works perfectly.
Works perfectly

Platformer levels don't save checkpoints, I tried this on both my main PC, and a base install of Linux Mint on my laptop.
The game works fine as-is, the launch options are only to get Geode working, but if you don't care about that, it's fine. Careful with platformer levels though, checkpoints are a little buggy and don't work, although that could be the result of an update. Good game though!
works just fine

LDM neccesary?
Game may randomly freeze
Works fine, but works BETTER with Low Detail turned on, but still works fine without it
NTFS IS EVIL. the game is incredibly slow when loading menus and in general loading content. If ur steam drive is NTFS, REFORMAT IT!!!!!!!!!

Works perfectly
i had some performance issues with gamemode but the game runs perfectly without it

Delay on mouse only
checked via "evetest" in the terminal, no mouse delays were detected. Also the menu works without delays, only the gameplay and editor has delay (about 3 frames wich is 0.05 sec, but its noticable especialy on wave).
Worked out of the box
Worked perfectly out of the box.

Changed more buttons to A because I get tired of pressing A

you need to wait 2-4s longer compared to windows to enter level edit mode (creator) all other works fine
you need to wait 2-4s longer compared to windows to enter level edit mode (creator)

Works pretty well.
Some funky windowing issues with clicks in wrong places, fixed by alt-tabbing out and back in.
Installing geode and megahack is a bit tricky, but doable.

Works as well as, or better, than on Windows 11.
When entering in-game level editor, the game stops responding temporarily. a few seconds of waiting resolves this issue.

Launch options are only necessary for modding (Geode).

I lost 5-10% of my performance on linux compared to windows, but everything workes, even mods, so I cant be too mad.
Just make sure you have set up launch arguments to use a dedicated gpu on a laptop. All in all it is almost on par with windows.

works ootb

The humongous launch option is just a bunch of copy-pasting from other reports i saw and but not needed, other than "winedll" to use mods, such as megahack, so if you are a tryhard you will at least need that. The rest of the launch parameters are somewhat specific and personalized so you won't need to copy the whole thing, but gamemoderun might help if you want a tiny bit of optimization, and mangohud just shows you your fps (and battery, battery time, ram, and a graph as i set it), and if it helps, you must install them manually since they aren't just included in steam. To install MegaHack, you must extract the .zip, paste everything from the unzipped folder in the GD folder (overwrite stuff with the same name), then with Wine run UniversalInstaller.exe, and if this doesn't help, there are youtube videos that show how to do it exactly

Game just straight up doesn't launch. Tried Experimental and 6.3-8 (the latter used to make it work), but nothing works.

tried on linux mint (x11) for the first time with vsync, it worked perfectly but i play with fps bypass and it just started stuttering. now with fedora + kde plasma + wayland, game works perfectly with fps bypass. so, its probably wayland that made it work :), it even works better than in windows lol
Works great!

The game works very well
I did not have to do additional configuration, I just installed the game and worked properly.

launch options for geode and gamemode. without gamemode this game runs better than on windows

The game runs well at first launch. Did not see anything wrong playing it. It was a great experience. It is a fun game to play.

game stutters horribly even on the main menu
stutters horribly on kde plasma wayland, however this was fixed by disabling blur in the kde compositing settings

The Wine DLL overrides are only required for running Geode, otherwise vanilla GD runs perfectly out of the box.
