Runs fine might wish for more FPS but all over good experience. recommend using FOV keybindings to change FOV if you have problems with stoc FOV follow this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=145&v=CJLax8U3exc
It has some memory issues it seams as it ate about 16 GB of RAM. Sometimes it also hardlocks the machine upon clicking save and exit. Game also crashes when it tries to reload upon focusing when clicking in the window when I have been AFK or doing something else for a while. Have not tried any tweaks but other than the mentioned issues I have no problems with the game.
in it's current demo form it is enjoyable, but see my other note about possible future anti-cheat.
From talking with the devs I have learned that they have no plan at this time to bring out a Linux native version of this game. They have also not yet implemented any form of anti-cheat in this game as they have not yet settled on any specific anti-cheat system, so while the demo worked without any problems I can see this become a problem in the future, I told them of it working fine in through proton in it's current state and I mentioned that anti-cheat in the windows binary might exclude any proton compatibility, and they told me they would note it for the future to only time will tell. If they manage to make it stay proton compatible I feel like this would be a fun game to add to any Linux gamer's party game collection with it's up to 8 player multiplayer.
If you have problems running RoR natively run it under proton.
Will ONLY work with an Xbox 360 controller. I have tried to use an Xbox one V2 over Bluetooth but the game is not able to map the controller and most of the buttons is not working/doing the wrong actions. I have only tested the 360 controller using a cheap 3rd party dongle for 360 controllers and it works flawlessly.
Some slowdowns when large amounts of enemies is on the screen when running on high graphics. Setting graphics to medium solved it for me.
Under proton I get my cloud save, no crashes and only minimal issues with slowdowns when graphics is set to high. Allover a good experience.
At max graphical settings it runs at 100 150 ish FPS depending on foliage, but some times the game freezes and stops for a second or two. It is not a major problem as of yet, but I can see this being a game breaking problem if it gets worse.
