Just after loading screen, and sometimes when hacking it felt laggy. I did however fiddle with the .ini file (which probably was the cause)
Like most others are saying, the game froze for a while without disabling esync and fsync: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% -nointro
The crashes could be annoying for some people, I dealt with it.
Save often, it crashed in menus.
It often crashes in menus, remember to save!
steam launh options: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command% -nointro
Sometimes the mouse get's detached from the window. Changing from/to fullscreen recaptures it.
I have to use Proton 8, any newer creates a weird problem where the camera teleports around the character when moving the mouse. Proton 8 gives a full black launcher I can still click bottom right to start the game, and does not have access to the central market in game (launch with Proton Experimental to update/relogin/access market).
I wouldn't start for me like many others, Proton 5.0 was the version that worked for me.
Barely noticable though, might just be that the game is not fully optimised.
Tried many different proton settings to no avail. Also could not find anything worthwhile in the proton log.
The game did not start
I checked through the Proton log but could not find any relevant error.
I have enjoy my time in the game so far. Sometimes it seemed like the server was offline.
There were some issues with the game not working properly in my WM, however these were resolved by playing in windowed mode.
Worked well enough out of the box.
When changing workspaces the game window became tiny and I had to restart. Not a big issue.
For me, it did not work out of the box, but it DID work finally.
At first, the game was borked, unplayable shitty fps. Then I tried some different Proton versions and graphics settings. I don't know what I did but it ended up working fine. Vulkan caused some annoying flickering.
Worked after a couple of restarts and messing with settings.
Fullscreen is super jank, go to windowed mode.
"Could not find PhysX Loader.dll"
I tried installing physx.dll though winetricks, didn't help. also tried copying the dll files to the Divine Sould directory to no avail.
It worked just fine with GloriousEggroll (the normal proton did not start)
It was a bit janky to switch workspaces.
A guide for an HD version: https://gist.github.com/Eoin-ONeill-Yokai/5016e28506071165578eb8c181700b0f There were some unfortunate crashes with it but might be worth it for some
Got the game running but could not start a server.
I got it running by installing xna 4.0 through winetricks: WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/434510/pfx winetricks then "Select the default wineprefix" -> "Install a Windows DLL or component" -> "xna40"(it's at the bottom). However there were no servers up, and I was not able to start my own.
Great game, I played with Glorious Eggroll 6.10 but didn't notice any difference to normal proton.
Very uncommon and a very small problem imo, but sometimes there were a few fps drops and just low fps in general.
1896 update borked it, proton made an experimental bleeding edge fix: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Proton-Versions#proton-bl
1896 update borked it, proton made an experimental bleeding edge (latest and untested) fix: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Proton-Versions#proton-bleeding-edge
Worked just fine out of the box.
The game crashed when switching workplace in fullscreen (was fine in windwed mode)
I liked it which made the whole "not have access to the main selling point" even more sucky.
The game crashed without disabling esync.
The game will NOT connect to the servers and you will CRASH if you try. You can delete files to be able to play again, just don't do what I did and lose all your saves. ".local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/792710/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Local\ Settings/Application Data/PlatformerBuilder"
Finally, the game seems to be working fine with Linux. I did use the GloriousEggroll version of proton.
I had to play the game windowed (not borderless) otherwise there were some stuttering. Might have something to do with Wayland.
The minor issues didn't bother me at all.
Sometimes when comming back to the game, the controller was not responding.
I crached once during my entire playthrough.
The "native" version was flickering all over the place as well as having crazy mouse sensitivity. Proton fixed both of these issues for me.
Proton-5.9-GE-8-ST GloriousEggroll
PS4 controller, fixed through remapping in the game files (not a Linux issue)
Stuttering that were fixed by switching to mesa-git and proton-experimental.
the game did not exit properly, so just had to close from Steam, no big issue.
The game is quite empty
Restarting a couple of times to finish installation, still couldn't start
It was missing some Xul Assembly DLL which I couldn't find in winetricks. Installed xna40 but then there was an issue with direct x that I couldn't solve.
Screen went black, computer froze for a second then the game crashed.
Could not find any errors in the log file.
I had to lower the graphics
no windowed mode option
I tried to ctrl+c to copy, it erased my progress. (Don't press C)
I did play the older version though, not the anniversary one.
Without GloriousEggroll the game complained about some launch file missing and would not start.
