Runs, but suffers from occasional crashing, particularly at the main menu or when changing video settings. Performance isn't so great; got 13 FPS on Ultra GFX settings at 1080p. Decreasing GFX to High didn't make much of a difference.
Some areas are very dark depending on where the car is. On the other hand, it can be extremely bright.
It runs after compiling the latest version of vkd3d-proton
. Compile instructions can be found on the GitHub page: https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton
Put the compiled 64-bit DLL file in DIRT 5's installation directory, then use the following Steam launch parameter for the game:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="atiadlxx=b" %command%
Use Proton Experimental for this.
Game seems to only run on NVIDIA for now, check the issue on Github for more details: https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/issues/475
Runs out of the box, movies and everything working as of Proton 5.13-1, just don't change the graphics preset ("High" by default on my end)
Hangs when changing any of the graphics settings, though this could be the fact that I'm using the 5.9 kernel, which NVIDIA apparently doesn't support yet: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/nvidia-driver-not-yet-supported-for-linux-kernel-5-9/157263
Runs fine if you can withstand the crashing after each race.
ALWAYS crashes after a race, no idea what's causing it. Tried using different versions of Proton, Proton GE, upgraded graphics drivers, etc. Runs great otherwise.
Even though I'm using an NVIDIA graphics card, the game thinks I'm using AMD, since I get a little error upon launch saying my drivers aren't up-to-date...https://i.imgur.com/b0rO7N3.png
Works great! Online multiplayer, story mode, etc. all working.
Sometimes may crash while connecting to servers. Proton 6.3-4 will crash in training mode; 5.13-6 fixes this.
You'll need Proton GE 5.9 installed; force this version when playing. https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases
The game supports DirectInput, so initially my DS4 was working, but now for some reason it doesn't work.
Videos do not run on my end, although apparently some other folks over on r/linux_gaming have reported that videos work for them, albeit a bit glitchy. To get to the main menu, you may need to rename the "DCF2_StudioLogos.scx" file found in the "Movies" folder in the game's installation directory. Story mode and Multiverse do not work, as both modes require playing video.
You can connect to the online servers, but every time I tried to have a match with someone the game instantly desynchronized. You may have different success, depending on your hardware setup.
Tried everything; disabling esync, disabling D3D11, use Wine D3D. No success launching the game.
Doesn't run at all. I wonder if there's a way to disable GC controller support, which could be the culprit.
Works fine after running this patch: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5198#issuecomment-935208023
Runs OOTB with GE-Proton7-48
No longer works due to EasyAntiCheat service (https://steamcommunity.com/games/939510/announcements/detail/1612763361795761173).
Ran the first couple of tries, but took a RIDICULOUS amount of time to launch, even on SSD. Like other users have said, controllers don't seem to work, fullscreen or not. FPS hovers between 20-30 at 1080p on max graphics settings. Game crashes upon entering or leaving fullscreen, or alt-tabbing. Third time or so trying to run the game, it wouldn't launch at all. Neither can I verify the game cache or uninstall. Probably an easy fix, but I think I might just wait to try again if/when the game gets a native port.
Try the tweaks I've mentioned below to get better performance. Game now runs at a good 60 FPS.
For NVIDIA users, use the "PROTON_NO_GLSL=1 %command% " launch option to increase performance, then disable flipping in the NVIDIA settings. Now set your CPU cores to "performance" mode by running this in the terminal: echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor
DS4 initially didn't work. Forcing Steam Input on got it to work again.
Game will run slowly for users with lower-end hardware unless tweaks are made to the CPU and GPU.
Runs flawlessly. Unlike some other reporters' experience, online works just fine for me, no slowdowns whatsoever.
Runs just fine! No configuration tweaks were needed. Gets a good 90 FPS on max graphics settings, depending on how many units there are onscreen. Folks reporting about the game crashing is probably because the game's in early access; I don't think it's an issue with Proton itself.
Game suffers from a mirrored display, also hangs shortly after the Unity splash logo.
I'm working with the developer to see if he can either export a Linux build or find a way to get it working on Proton.
Will go to the main menu, but after selecting a stage nothing happens.
Tried Proton 5.13-5, Proton Experimental, and Proton GE
