Recent update broke FSR Frame Gen due to missing hardware scheduling in Wine/Proton.
Fix (via Protontricks + regedit):
Open Protontricks
Select Stellar Blade
Choose default wineprefix
Run regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\
Create key (if missing): GraphicsDrivers
Inside GraphicsDrivers, create a DWORD (32-bit) and call it HwSchMode
Set HwSchMode value to 2
Close regedit and launch the game.
After doing this, FSR frame gen should work again.
The game runs really well, without any major issues. The only issue I've encountered so far, was the broken FSR Frame Generation after the newest update, which is fixable thankfully.

Game is so well optimized, you can't even tell it's not Linux native. Running on Wayland.
I've put over 40 hours into it so far and haven't experienced any bugs or performance issues. I play with most settings at max, with the exception of Medium shadow quality and Low volumetric fog because they impact performance the most.
It runs so well at 1440p resolution locked at 120 FPS. I can leave it open for hours, alt tab in and out, change graphics settings frequently, and it never crashes. VRAM usage is ~10 GB, but can be lowered to ~8 GB by decreasing environmental texture quality.
My only complaint is that it doesn't support advanced DualSense controller features (haptic feedback and adaptive triggers) on Linux. Also, to get standard controller vibration I had to enable Steam Input, Game Rumble, and PlayStation Controller Support.

linux gaped windows on this game
sometimes hair and tentacles maybe start freaking out
windows 10 was going with 80-90 fps with fsr and frame gen ... CachyOS same settings 180-240 fps with all the upscaling framegen stuff closed happily smoothly gameplay at 90-100 fps (on 6700xt)

After playing for 2-3 hours, the framerate gets slower and slower. Restarting the game fixes that.
Sometimes, the game doesn't want to start as I get a "DirectX 12 is not supported on your system" error. Trying again starts the game without problem. This might due to my multi monitor setup as I regularly unplug/replug screens.

Si vous n'avez pas besoin de HDR faut juste faire "jouer", en revanche pour avoir HDR faut lancer en gamescope avec option de lancement.
MANGOHUD=1 LD_PRELOAD="" gamescope -H 1440 -W 2560 -r 120 -f --force-grab-cursor --hdr-enabled -- %command%
Tourne super bien

Out of the box
On my openSUSE Tumbleweed with a Luna controller

Gamepad works great, controller recognized and shows correct glyphs

MANGOHUD=1 %command%
Terrible stutter after the game reaches 10GB of VRAM usage. At the same time the game ignores the dxgi.maxDeviceMemory flag, which makes this issue unfixable user-side.

Runs flawlessly.
Works OOTB. No thinkering required.

Played it on my gaming rig and on the Steam Deck. The game works flawless on both machines.
LD_PRELOAD="" gamescope -H 1440 -W 2560 -r 120 -f --force-grab-cursor --hdr-enabled -- %command%
Only used gamescope to force my desktop resolution, HDR and to grab the mouse cursor. If you dont need HDR or only play with the Controller, you don't need it.
Runs perfectly
FSR4_UPGRADE=1 mangohud %command%

SteamDeck=0 %command%
Game runs exceptionally well. My recommendation would be to disable resolution scaling, and change anti-aliasing to TAA at 90%, but that is my preference for visuals/performance.
Not a single issue, my playthrough was perfect, no tinkering

the game is capped at 120 fps after you install mod put this in launch options MANGOHUD=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xinput1_3=n,b" %command% then press ~ type t.maxfps 144 or what ever fps you want to unlock limit https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7remake/mods/74?tab=files&file_id=6039
warning i think this game uses denovo drm because if you change translation layers too many times you will be ban for 24 hours choose wisely

Not with an Intel Arc GPU. A progression-blocking bug requires a different PC to finish the game.
With an Intel Arc A770 GPU, the game freezes and then crashes upon approaching two specific locations: the Crater in Eidos 7, and the initial landing area in Eidos 9 (after choosing to "go to space" and the story directs you there). I had to use another computer to bypass these points, and now simply getting near either of these areas again causes an immediate freeze and crash.

gamemoderun %command%
I've had one crash after the point of no return and occasionally minor framedrops in the Great Desert, but other than that, it runs great at 1440p (>100fps on ultra without FSR)

Stuttering and constant frame dips regardless of settings
Buy on sale.
Game works flawlessly without lifting a finger

Had a issue that was completely hardware oriented, once i fixed that the game worked as i would expect it to on windows.

Works as expected. I just choose the proton experimental since the game is new

Works without touching anything.
The edges of the screen will flicker sometimes, but it's extremely rare.

Flawless performance
Works perfectly with no tweaks, config changes, or launch parameters.

perfectly optimized game, runs very well
40 hours, zero issues. It's very well polished and also a very good and entertaining game.
This game works very well. I have played with and without mods.

Played from beginning to end with no major issues or crashing. Very little configuration.
SteamDeck=0 %command%
Minor slowdowns on occasion when in the pause menu.
All graphics setting maxxed out at 4K with FSR3 Quality. Graphics card is RX 9070 (non XT).

gamemoderun mangohud PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command%
Used a modifeid engine.ini mod
on gnome, HDR works with the latest proton. Ps5 controller works runs smooth as hell.

gamemoderun %command%
On my system, there were rare, short-term freezes of the game, they happened after ~3-4 hours of play, and then there were none, so I recommend trying to play

Runs perfectly without any tinkering
No commands, drivers, software, scripts or anything else required to enjoy the game. Everything works flawlessly without any issues at all.

SteamDeck=0 %command%
The game runs perfectly. Just if using the following launch options: "SteamDeck=0 %command%" as stated by other users, it will allow you to turn to medium quality graphics without noticeable performance issues.

Playing with wired xbox controller, everything is working as expected. Averaging ~140fps with my hardware at 5120x1440 very high settings. No noticable performance drops or issues with the opening scenes and first open explorable area.

LD_PRELOAD="" gamescope -W 2560 -H 1440 -f --adaptive-sync --mangoapp -- %command%
Game runs perfectly out of the box with great performance. All launch options I use are purely optional.

No. Performance is otherwise excellent and the game is very enjoyable up until the progression-blocking crash detailed above, which makes it
This crash leads to a secondary problem: I cannot load any save file created after that point.
To confirm this, I used a different PC (with a non-Arc GPU) to play past the tunnel where my system crashes. After creating a save at the "Crater" waypoint and moving it back to my Arc PC, the game now freezes and crashes on the loading screen when I try to load that save.
On my Intel Arc A770, I'm experiencing a consistent and reproducible crash at a specific point.
The crash always occurs in the "Construction Zone." After I raise the water level, I enter the final tunnel that leads to the "Crater" waypoint. My game completely freezes in the middle of this tunnel and then crashes to desktop.

i didn't have any problem running the game and even installed a few mods
My GPU has 8GB vram and there have been soo many games including this one that have oversubscribtion problem.
gamemoderun mangohud %command%
Unplayable stutter after 30 minutes of playtime at medium graphics, DLSS, and 1080p caused by vram oversubscribtion.
Would not recommend unless you have an AMD GPU or vram bigger than 12GB. Otherwise just go back to Windows.

The game plays excellently, with framerates in the 30 to 60fps range. When it's running well, it's truly stunning.
SteamDeck=0 gamemoderun %command%
Running the game stock locks various settings and enables the Steam Deck preset, which prevents raising texture quality.
SteamDeck=0 will unlock the settings menu and allow you to change texture quality. I've found using Medium for Environment Textures and High for Character Textures has negligible impact on performance, so I recommend that.
Troubleshooting was needed to get the full game to launch in Gaming Mode on SteamOS consistently for unknown reasons. The demo had no such issue on the same hardware.
The defaults would result in the game hanging on a black screen at startup when in Gaming Mode around 90% of the time. Booting the game in Desktop Mode would work consistently, but is obviously suboptimal on the Steam Deck.
Switching to GE-Proton10-4 and setting the launch command "gamemoderun" appears to have solved the issue. But, as with all games with Denuvo, be careful not to switch proton versions too much or you will use up your 5 daily activations.
I am opting not to factor this problem into my rating, as the problem may have something to do with SteamOS's gaming mode specifically, since launching on the Desktop is fine.
