The game installs properly, but it doesn't start.

If you have a CPU with more than 16 logical cores the game will only show a white screen and then crash. In that case you can use the WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY option to limit the number of CPUs visible to the game. E.g. WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=10:0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 for 10 cores.

Same as what some have mentioned, first attempt errored after logging into ubisoft connect, just re-launching worked. Seems to leave ubisoft connect open after closing the game, and needs to be stopped manually from Steam to properly reflect when you've closed the game.

Uplay sometime doesn't work, and the game will not turn off completely. However, still have a great experience on this game.

Once the game launches it only gets a black screen for a while before it turns white and errors with "failed to initialize Direct 3D".

No tweeking whatsoever. Game jsut launched. Ubisoft launcher works properly under new proton
I'm using proton 8.0 I guess. One chosen by default by steam.
Evertithing jsut worked. Had to wait untill ubisoft launcher installs. There were no need to cr**k the game as is adwised as currently launcher works jsut fine.
Andter I exit the game steam think it's still running but I can force stop it.
2k resolution works. Controller works. (I had some junkiness in curesor movemernt by controller, but I guess it's bad controller, or I'm not used to, that's not my own conrteoller but one I lent from friends)

Ubisoft connect was the issue, Proton experimental fixed it. Mouse may be hidden after quitting game, until ubisoft connect is explicitely closed.

The only version of proton that made it the game to work was GE-Proton.
If you have a ultrawide monitor use Flawless Widescreen through Steam Tinker Launch to remove the black bars from both sides.
the game used to work, but the lastest update to Ubisoft's garbo launcher, Ubisoft Connect, broke it
i tried the proton version recommended by steam, experimental, 7.0.5, GE-Proton7-38 and Proton-6.1-GE-2

Well, after looking more into logs, I discoverd that I have the following error: err:vulkan:__wine_create_vk_instance_with_callback Failed to create instance, res=-1
which is caused by installing lib32-amdvlk. After I uninstalled the package, everything worked fine as expected.
Can't play because of Uplay
Tried bunch of Proton versions, including latest GE, stable and experimental. After installing Uplay, it cannot connect to Uplay and game does not launch. Logs: "D:\JenkinsWorkspace\workspace\client_build_installer\client\products\game_starter\src\win\UplayConnection.cpp(158) : Failed to connect to Uplay\n"
Ubisoft connect crashed on first luanch. and sometimes the game woulde not close because of Ubisoft connect and i had to close the game directly from Steam.
Very minor problms with Ubisoft Connect. Otherwise very good.
After the initial Uplay update it crashed. After starting the game again it just worked.
There might be an error after the initial Uplay update; just ignore it. After exiting the game you have to manually abort it (simply by pressing B). Other than that all seems to be perfect. Even the Uplay cloud saves were there, and I didn't even have to log into Uplay. We've come such a long way since 2015.

I had to install the game on Windows, to registered the game in my Ubi account, when I returned to Linux the game opened normally now.

I tried this game with GloriousEggroll's latest custom version of Proton, 6.15-GE-2, and the game just worked like it works on Windows.

Ubisoft Connect keeps asking for CD Key
I can't find a way to activate the game. There are guides on how to find the CD Key in Steam, but when I follow these steps there is no "Show Key" option for me.
Tried updating Ubisoft Connect both manually and with protontricks 256290, still keeps asking for a key.

Installed Uplay. Beat the game and nearly all side quests. Never encountered issues.
Game runs perfectly in a virtual desktop.
Except being unable switch between softwares (Alt-Tab). The game runs flawlessly.

Add " PROTON_USE_WINED3D11=1 %command% " to launch options.
The slowness probably caused the audio to fall out of sync.
I'm hovering around 30 FPS but it seems like it's moving at half speed, like a video playing back at half speed.
Cannot fully exit the game, exiting Steam and trying to launch the game again, nothing happens, the game is shown "running" on the Steam UI, except it's not.

beautiful game; runs well on my system save for the occasional crash
Crashed twice in two hours of play, both times when starting a battle. Although the game autosaves frequently, so this is a trivial issue.
The game ran smoothly and bugfree during the first testplay. Will update the report after some longer playtime.


starting/uplay is a bit slow sometimes (appeared to be stuck in checking for patches for the game one time), but after starting the game everything seems to be working properly; no changes/settings to the default proton config were need


Uplay starts and logs in fine, but the game crashes after a few seconds of white screen. The log just says page fault, I couldn't find any more useful information.

When you first launch it, nothing happens. Uplay won't start. You have to kill upc.exe and it will then start with Child of Light. You then ensure that the overlay is disabled via the uplay settings.
There is a black square appearing at the center of the screen at the beginning of each fight which fades away quickly. This is due to a glitch it seems with battle intros. Go to game settings and disable battle intros and the problem goes away.

Game launches fine but for the first time, you'll need to go to the wine window that launches uplay, go to settings and disable the uplay overlay. Subsequent launches will show a warning about the uplay overlay disabled. Simply click to proceed to the game.
Achievements for uplay still work as usual and the steam overlay works fine in game too. Game runs perfectly except for one graphical glitch at the beginning of battles where you see a visible black box appear for a second before disappearing.
I assume this can be fixed. Not sure if it happens on mesa though.
I'm using the NVIDIA proprietary driver.


Had to alt tab out of the game and force close the uplay launcher, when uplay launcher is up, it freezes up the game, and keeps any uplay stuff up that has been opened


The game works fine, but I had to install a new version of Uplay via protontricks (shell command: protontricks 256290 uplay) to make it run.


Uplay might lock up on the first run and need to be manually terminated from the system monitor, but the game launches successfully on subsequent attempts. Good performance and full controller support in-game and I noted no obvious glitches or errors in 1.5 hours of play. When quitting the game the Uplay process does not end properly and again needs to be stopped using the system monitor.


First started into UbiLauncher -> logged in -> closed UbiLauncher -> Start again from Steam -> works out of the box

Wouldn't launch the first time after uplay updated and logged in. After closing uplay and restarting the game it worked great. Performance was good. Sound and controller all worked fine as well.


Game runs very well. No tweaks applied. However, Uplay needs to be restarted every time since the game does only start when using the "Play"-Button within Steam, which first starts Uplay and Child of Light automatically afterwards. Within Uplay itself there is only a "Download"-button available which doesn't seem to do anything. Three minor issues: 1: I can't get rid of the box in the upper right corner "Press Shift+F2 while in game to activate the overlay" while in game. 2: there is a black square appearing at the center of the screen at the beginning of each fight which fades away quickly. So it doesn't interfere with the gameplay. 3: When my Xbox 360 wireless controller disconnected due to low battery, I had to restart the game to be able to use it again.


Tried with Disable Esync but does not work
Uplay client appears and downloads an update. Once finished it attempts to restart and apply the update, but is unable to do so. Uplay client does not appear on subsequent launch attempts and instead seems to create a zombie process.
