beautiful game; runs well on my system save for the occasional crash
Crashed twice in two hours of play, both times when starting a battle. Although the game autosaves frequently, so this is a trivial issue.
Fullscreen experiences performance degradation; however, the game runs perfectly in windowed mode.
Used Glorious Eggroll Proton-6.1-GE-1
As others have noted, the game sometimes starts with no audio. The game must be quit and restarted, sometimes multiple times, before audio will work. Once one has achieved working audio, it remains working and plays normally for the duration of the session.
The game defaulted to Japanese the first time I started it up. I had to go to {Steam library path}/steamapps/compatdata/359870/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/My Documents/SQUARE ENIX/FINAL FANTASY X&X-2 HD Remaster/GameSetting.ini and change the language from "jp" to "en". After this, the game plays normally in English rather than Japanese.
As per other comments here, I was initially attempting to run the game using Proton-5.21-GE-1, as that was reported as working. That did not work for me. The game crashed 100% whenever any monster would initiate an attack, making it impossible to get through the introductory battle sequences. Fortunately, I discovered that Proton-6.1-GE-1 does not have that issue, and the game runs perfectly under it at the highest quality setting.
Just ran as is on Steam using Proton. Some minor screen tearing, minor enough that I didn't bother to try to fix it.
works perfectly out of the box
In fifty hours of usage, the editor has crashed exactly twice. The game previewer has never crashed. A nearly flawless experience.
I had to build FAudio with ffmpeg and manually update the faudio so file inside Proton, but after that, everything worked great.
