Usually after 3-4 matches, the anti-cheat makes my NVIDIA driver crash. This only happens on NVIDIA Optimus laptops and not desktops or handhelds.
Using an RX 9060 XT 16G, the game runs perfectely fine. But problems has been discover using an RTX 2060

Shaders compile from scratch on every relaunch of the game.
I'm a baby linux gamer - this was my first proton layer game played.
Borked since latest update

you need to enable proton experimental bleeding edge for the anti cheat to not kick you out right now, and maybe proton hotfix already recieved the patch

I was stuck on the Tokyo map loading screen and I could hear the commentators and teammates but couldn't move or do anything and the loading screen was still going.
The new Denuvo Anti-Cheat(not Denuvo DRM) they used is a little harder to work on Linux then the old EAC
crashes due to Error Code TFLA0029 Embark and Discovery updates did not help

Works perfect after anti-cheat update if you switch to Proton Hotfix and let the vulkan shaders compile fully.
-dx11
Not a linux-specific issue. Game has mouse smoothing enabled by default.
Added the lines: [/script/engine.inputsettings] bEnableMouseSmoothing=False
To file: ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2073850/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Discovery/Saved/Config/WindowsClient/GameUserSettings.ini
Also, turning in-game vsync on with wayland causes huge input lag. Turn it off in-game.
Couple of crashes after install. Goes away eventually by itself.
I guess RX 570 8G is not enough for this game. I'm getting 60 FPS only on min settings with 50-60% scaling enabled. I don't know if "-dx11" flag is really needed or if it's a placebo. Trying "-vulkan" does not work: game crashes with an unreal engine error stating that project was not compiled with vulkan support.
Devs actually do consider linux players as human and provide support when promiced or accidentally broken. +REP Embark.

The game has some problems identifying all the monitors if they have different scaling on wayland.
Since last patch, it is now impossible to play from a linux distro, the game kicks you out after a few minutes with an error message "A forbidden operating system configuration was detected".

When update 7.9 dropped, Embark claimed to have thoroughly tested the update with CodeWeavers to make sure it worked. They have not, in fact, tested it thoroughly, as a big chunk of the playerbase found themselves unable to play. They have a habit of doing this. They say they've been testing the game on linux since season 5, but I have not noticed any improvement. The game gets updated on a weekly basis, and every time it does, it's a gamble as to whether it'll even work. This whole anti-cheat false-kicking situation is barely the beginning, though - Embark say they won't implement Denuvo anti-cheat on Steam until season 8 (in 3 weeks). I highly doubt things will get any better. I think I'm going to quit this game for a while as I don't think it's worth putting up with in its current state.

Had fullscreen issues on the compiling shaders screen, although none in game.
Freeze due to NVIDIA Optimus issues. Won't happen on SteamDecks or Desktop PCs.
Make sure to use Proton Experimental's latest bleeding-edge. To get it, go to your Steam Library > Search for Proton Experimental > Properties > Betas > Select bleeding-edge latest

Works great out of the box. Requires Proton Hotfix or Proton Experimental bleeding-edge branch as of 17th of August, will change soon.
Skip steam's vulkan shader compilation and let the game compile shaders, and it should be fine.

Game runs great. Some folks have had issues with crashing. Just use Proton Experimental and follow the below steps.
run these two:
(check the var, it might be set low):
cat /proc/sys/vm/max_map_count
if low:
sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=2147483642

With the 7.9 update of the game, the Proton compat got screwed over, but the devs patched a Hotfix with Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge and it's working again. Any users affected by the "Kicked by Incompatible Operative System" didn't got banned or affected in any other way
Like the other reports, latest update leads to being kicked from every couple of games (seems random, sometimes every other game). Very irritating to have new issues after every update though.

Ocasionally getting errors 27 and 35. AFAIK from what I've read, the one of the two related to connection issues is happening on Windows too, and for now it's only happening when entering the lobby. It probably got cleaned up in yesterday's update.
Ocassionally getting the "illegal OS configuration" thing.
It no longer works on GNOME on Wayland. I have to switch to an alternative environment for it to run.

Usually ran it at 50-60 FPS back then without stutters, now barely touches 25 FPS
Hopefully Embark fixes this, according to some Discord reports, AMD systems seem to have better luck.

Proton Hotfix updated, switched to using it and went into my MSI bios to enable a more strict secure boot. Some are saying on the forums that enable secure boot fixed it for them. Seems the developers are switching to Denuvo anti-cheat, not the DRM product Denuvo sells. Either way. I ended up doing TWO things and don't know which one fixed the issue.

Game boots you during gameplay after latest update.
Latest update keeps kicking you from the servers with error code: TFGE0027 if you use Proton Experimental or GE-Proton of any flavor. If you use Proton Hotfix you get kicked with the "System Integrity Violation: A forbidden operating system configuation was detected." A shame. I've got 295.5 hours into this game but it's becoming too much of a pain in the A to get it to keep working.

Error TFAV3015 (system integrity violation) after update
Getting kicked out after update, maybe its related to the anticheat being changed, more reports on this steam forum thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/2073850/discussions/0/524225618711273374/

I just got this message for the first time.
I got kicked from a server and it said something about kicked due to Forbidden Operating System Configuration Error code TFAV3015. First time i've had an issue, happened right after i updated the game.
So be careful, i changed from cachy os proton to experimental.
Okay it's happened twice no, i wouldn't try to play this right now.

Game will kick you after 15 mins with an error about an unsupported operating system configuration. Continuing to play will likely result in a ban, so I wouldn't recommend anyone play this on Linux.
This game should NOT be gold rated

Recent changes to anti-cheat software are causing issues. You can play a few games but you will be kicked in online lobbies. This may be due to Secure Boot being a requirement--which Debian supports but that is only conjecture.
Waiting to hear more from Embark, even though they said they would try to support Linux and Steam Deck https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2073850/view/612045811444875471?l=english

NO INICIA CON NINGUNA VERSION DE PROTON

Got kicked from a Head2Head match twice, then couldn't even login to the game. Got Error code TFLA0029 saying login attempt failed.
Update 7.9 just launched, and I don't think the game is officially supported but I think the devs said they would try their best to support steam deck/linux. Hopefully will be fixed with a patch or something soon.

System Integrity Violation error forces the game to close. Currently unplayable.
Most recent update now restricts Linux compatibility. What once worked perfectly (once you get settings adjusted) now kicks you out of the game.
Error code TFAV3015, stating that there's a system integrity violation, with a description that a forbidden operating system configuration was detected.

Since the patch today I am getting kicked from the game. It looks like Linux users aren't allowed to play (a full game) anymore.
I am wondering, why do you allowed in EasyAntiCheat Linux, when you are Blocking it in the game Later?

Devs added Denuvo anti cheat and I keep getting kicked for having a "forbidden operating system configuration".
They claim to cooperate with CodeWeavers to make sure the game works on linux, but if anyone complains about compatibility they say they don't actually support linux.
Also my whole pc freezes whenever updating the game via steam. No other game does this.

Shadows have a reddish hue it can be very distracting, in night maps.
Tried Proton GE, Proton Experimental and regular Proton, rebuilt the shader cache twice to see if the issue with the shadows gets fixed but no luck, must be something related to the Nvidia driver, besides that the game runs smoothly without issues, in certain maps you won't even notice the issue with the shadows so it's not that invasive, probably only 30% of the time.
