Around ~30 fps less than windows.
In game mic does not work, problably because the game relies on xbox game bar

I had to restart a few times to get the Xbox login page to show more than a gray box, but once signed in its just worked without thinking about it

Works Flawlessly Using Steam
No tinkering needed
Generating characters crashed after a few times.

I had to connect to a VPN to login into XBOX, only the first time, I could avoid the VPN entirely afterwards. Everything else works out of the box!
Not a single problem. Runs identical to Windows

Game runs very smoothly. Light Soundcracks here and there, but nothing crazy. Worked out of the box.
Worth trying on Linux :)

This game DOES NOT work on void linux as far as ive tried. On 2 separate computers with void. Works just fine on debian.
Doesnt work on void linux i guess.

I used to play on Windows on Game Pass, when the Summer Sale happened I decided to buy it for the sake of convenience of playing it on Linux. After connecting my Xbox account all of my progress was saved and I was back to where I was when I played in 2023.

Mouse unfocus issues with Proton 10, use Proton 9 instead
When using Proton 10, the mouse sometimes unfocuses the game during combats. Rolling back to Proton 9 fixes the issue.

Works, mostly
Loading times are significantly worse
The game relies heavily on the Xbox integration, and things don't work as expected due to its absence
There's a bug with invites that I haven't found a consistent workaround for. Sometimes, they get sent and are received by your Xbox account, but don't appear in-game, rendering them useless. Otherwise, the game runs fine

Same experience as on Windows
Only downside is the game's reliance on the Xbox Game Bar to join friends, which is obviously not a thing on Linux. But there are workarounds for that, by inviting from the game when creating a crew, or letting your friends on Windows join you as you still appear online.

Works Marvelously on Linux
I didn't experience any problems with this title on singleplayer.
Online - The only hiccup I experienced was how to join a friend's session when they were playing the game via the Windows Game Store on a Windows machine. We had to add each other via the xbox website (There is also a GNOME extension which might work to add the microsoft gamebar, but I didn't try this) and join that way.
Very rarely and 99% of the time I was under water.

Works flawlessly out of the box
No faffing around, no launch options. This game works perfectly with no tweaks. There was slight hitching for the first 3 minutes but after that it worked very well.

Running the game on any partition but the OS' ended with an immediate message "Failed to get the process' path" from Easy Anti-cheat. Try iinstalling it on your main partition if you're getting the same error.
Cant get it to work with simple tinkering (launch options) on Fedora 42, Steam installed as Flatpak

PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 gamemoderun MANGOHUD=1 gamescope -F fsr -w 1536 -h 864 --force-grab-cursor -- env VKD3D_DISABLE_EXTENSIONS=VK_KHR_present_wait %command%
Stuttering audio, fixed with PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60
Mouse kept escaping from game window. Fixed with --force-grab-cursor

env -u SDL_VIDEODRIVER %command%
Works without any issues after tinkering. Make sure to set launch option if on Wayland, without it, I was getting an error telling me "dependencies failed to initialize".

I normally force Proton Experimental on all games by default, and that was working with this game until the latest update (today, 2025/04/24). I changed to Proton 9.0-4 to test, and was able to play again.
I play on a 32:9 ultrawide, had no issues with fullscreen, but for any streaming I need it in 16:9 and setting it to windowed mode only gave me 32:9 aspect ratio resolutions to choose from.
Fortunately you can drag the window borders into whatever ratio you want, and manually made it 16:9.
I have Proton Experimental set as the default for all games, and this game was working perfectly on that just a few days ago. But the new update seems to have broken something, I suspect with Easy Anticheat, because it kept booting me off of Xbox Live.
But switching back to the normally recommended Proton 9.0-4 I was able to get signed in and seems to be working fine.
Works perfect with a single tweak, crashes to desktop over and over currently if you don't add "-d3d11" in launch settings.
-d3d11

My loading times have been cut to around 1/4 of what they were when I'd play on Windows. Zero bugs or issues running on Linux, and I load way faster.

The intro videos are weirdly jerky but they're just ads for the current season. Crashed after logging into XBox Live but restarting once was fine. No other issues.
d3d11 required
Works great, xbox login freezes but after waiting a few mins and closing and reopening the game it works.

Great console-like experience with GMKtec M7 Pro (DX12 + 80% scaling from 1080p, mid-high settings, no ultra)
Just one crash at the very beginning but probably because of the Vulkan shaders pre-cache build. Then, I had an almost two hours online on High Seas at steady framerates and ping. But the ping, it doesn't depend from this machine. It's on their servers.
It's okay when the servers are fine, you know.

Froze at first launch, had to add -d3d11 to launch options. Ran well after this !

No problems with Xbox Live login. Only issue was intro cinematic endlessly loading, but it is skippable. Otherwise game runs smoothly.

gamemoderun %command%
Works on Wayland, even on very high settings. The very first startup and login take quite a long time but afterwards it works fine.

unset SDL_VIDEODRIVER; gamemoderun %command%
Couldn't get it to start before setting launch options, though.

First i had a Message for EAC Cheat Violation ("Rumblebeard") which was caused by a workaround for Starcitizen i had to edit the /etc/hosts file and comment with # the line 127.0.0.1 modules-cdn.eac-prod.on.epicgames.com #Star Citizen EAC workaround after that it woked

env -u SDL_VIDEODRIVER %command% -d3d11
x11 i3 desktop. No issues with moving in and out of game or mouse capture. Both GE and Launch Options were required. Login worked fine without reverting to an older version but it was a little slow to load the ingame frame for MS login white screen apears but waiting or selecting content on screen made it work fine.

Microsoft account sign-in requires temporary shift to Proton 6.3-8.
OS is Lubuntu 25.04; GPU is an Nvidia 860m; Nvidia driver version is 570.86.16; Steam Compatibility is Proton Hotfix.
White screen on Microsoft login page resolved by right-clicking and selecting "print". Restarted and it then worked fine.

Had the same loggin problem as everyone with the white screen. Fixed it by: Right click on white loggins screen > print (i dont know why but that worked)

"Kicked for anti-cheat violation. (Rumblebeard)" Every time I try to play
Tried everything I could find or think of for the past 3 days, also got cracking audio when starting the game.

XBOX Login is broken for me. Used an older Proton to login and then switched back to GE.
Basically Perfect!
