Overall (online):Excellent
With proton 7, 8 or experimental my online FPS dropped to 10. Singleplayer it was 200+. Switching to proton 6 (+ disabling the launcher, as it then no longer works) fixes this issue.
Forcing a version also makes you use the windows version instead of the native version, which is good because native is no longer updated, so cross-play with people on other OS's no longer works because of version mismatch because the linux version is older

Was able to install and run, didn't test multiplayer. Other than the artefacts with the track textures I didn't notice anything off.
Tinker Steps:Switch to experimental

Track textures appear and disappear. Still playable but looks buggy.

As others report texture artifacts are gone with proton experimental, game runs flawlessly here. Only tinker I did is enforce experimental.
