I had to change to windowed mode
I had to use windowed mode
mangohud %command%
Previously on my old PC(i7 4790K and GTX 1070, Linux Mint21) the game crashed when launching to the main menu. I tried different proton version and command line but nothing worked. I gave up.
That was almost two years ago. Now I have a new PC(R7 7700X and RX 6800XT, Linux Mint 22.1) and it works great without any tinkering. Not sure if the newer OS or HW or if there was a patch.
Initially it stutter very frequently and badly to be unplayable. Changing the screen mode to borderless window, seem to help. Once in a while it still has frame rate dip, but rarely. With this mode its playable.
gamemoderun %command%
I had to use Proton7.0-6, otherwise I got blackscreen when launching and then crashed.
Origin crashed a lot.
Sometimes origin crashed and I had to try launch couple times. Twice origin crashed really bad and I had to uninstall and re-install to get it back working again.
Ubisoft launcher is annoying to setup. However thankfully once its setup it requires no input for subsequent launch.
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%
Tried the "PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 %command%" and also tried different proton version/experimentall.
Nothing worked for me. I never even get to see splash screen, just kept crashed back to the steam.
Curiously it works fine without any workaround on my desktop running Linux Mint 20.
cutscenes sometimes went blank
I have to use proton 7.0-6 to get the main menu. Using other protons it took forever to get past the initial portrait screen and the playstation logo played in a stuttering way. Initially with 7.0-6, the gameplay I got horrible black plane flickering. Then I noticed in the main menu it was building a shader, it prints "building shader" in the lower right corner. Once I waited for the shader to finish, the gameplay seemed OK, I'm up to part 8 now. The only bug left is cutscenes sometimes go blank. It's annoying but at least it's easy to skip the cutscene, and I can watch the scene from YouTube.
