Perfectly playable out of the box, played through the entire game without issues

After the slight tinkering (proton 6.3-8 + d3dcompiler_47) the game is a flawless experience.
Newer proton versions don't or might not run the game (game window doesn't scale contents and delta time for the game only gets processed when the game receives user events from keyboard/mouse).
Proton 6.3-8 works flawlessly. Requires 'd3dcompiler_47' with winetricks/protontricks.
The game often starts in windowed mode (couldn't figure out what causes it). Press Alt+Enter to make it fullscreen.

Fine out the box, but required a hex edit to be up to the standards of the first game.
Due to capped and inconsistent framerate, mouse movement was sluggish.
Game prior to hex edit was capped at 50fps and would fall below that.
No other report mentions this oddly, but on the PCGamingWiki entry for the game, it makes note of a hex edit required to get high, stable framerates, and I needed to do this.
Firstly you need to de-obfuscate the Monkey2.exe using Steamless (should run fine using Wine), then, using a hex editor, change "76 05 0F 57 C0 EB 06" to "89 C0 0F 57 C0 EB 06". Lastly, cap the framerate (using Mangohud for example) to your desired framerate otherwise the game can refuse to launch.
Added d3dcompiler_47.dll with protontricks gui
Game crashed on startup. Works with protontricks installing d3dcompiler_47 and xact.
Right stick click = .
(skip dialogue), menu and version hotswap keys adjusted.
TDP 3W, GPU 200 MHz, 60 fps
If you launch it from steam, the game doesn't work. I found on reddit that if you install pacman championship edition DX demo and run it, it will install the right directx version, and then the program will just work flawlessly
d3dcompiler_47

MANGOHUD=1 DRI_PRIME=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=upload_hvv DXVK_HUD=fps,gpuload %command%
Only works using Proton Experimental
sed -i "s/^resolution=.*/resolution=$(xdpyinfo | awk /dimensions/{print })/" ~/".steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/32460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/LucasArts/Monkey Island 2 Special Edition/Settings.ini"; %command%
The game wouldn't launch depending on the screen resolution. I used a custom launch command that set the game resolution to the system resolution so it would launch every time.
After adding d3dcompiler_47.dll with winetricks the game launched and I was able to start/load game.
WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/32460/pfx winetricks d3dcompiler_47: is required to launch the game
Have fun
The game worked out of the box on my Desktop PC (but not on my Laptop PC; if I get the time I will add another report for my Laptop).
Have fun.
sed -i "s/^resolution=.*/resolution=$(xdpyinfo | awk '/dimensions/{print $2}')/" ~/".steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/32460/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Application Data/LucasArts/Monkey Island 2 Special Edition/Settings.ini"; %command%
When the screen resolution is changed, the game will no longer launch. I use a custom launch option to set the resolution in the game to the screen resolution every time the game is launched, which works great.

Just some minor audio crackling, but after a few minutes i got used to it and wasnt bothered. Played the entire game without issues
Works perfectly 99% of the time!
Note: The vertical scrolling at the cliff on Booty Island blanks the screen instead of showing the scroll, regardless of graphics mode. Looking at Rapp Scallion causes a loading screen of 2-3 seconds, which is weirdly long (did not test if this occurs on Windows).
None of this however makes the game unplayable or less enjoyable to play. And apart from these two issues I did not run into any others!

It used to run flawlessly with these settings, but now just starts and exits immediately.

d3dcompiler_47, xact
Works great after using experimental proton. Default settings cause the pause menu to open every frame.
Defaults as controller but all prompts show mouse and key bindings
Had to switch to experimental to get it to run. Was fine after that
Game is listed as Playable but unless you use ProtonGE you won't be able to go past the initial menu. Using ProtonGE7.14 completely fixed it.
Works only in desktop mode in the steamdeck
Flicker and then game crashes

Good game, worth a play
Just perfect out of the box.
Run flawlessly even with Xbox One Controller.
Rare crackling

Almost perfect, except for minor audio issues
Audio starts crackling after prolonged playing. Restarting the game fixes this.

No issues so far

Works without any issues.

The game runs without issues.

Finished entire game, everything worked perfectly.

Just finished the game. Worked perfectly, click play & enjoy.
