The game crashes when leaving the fullscreen window.
The game crashes when switching to 1080p resolution in its graphics settings on first startup, and then works fine when switching on second startup. Note that this is often true for me on Windows as well, so it was expected. Game ran perfectly in a skirmish.

I have no idea why in the world this has an entry on Steam now. It's been a forgotten browser game for many years, and should run in any browser. Currently unreleased on Steam at time of writing; have no idea what that's about.
To get game to run natively, delete the library file called "librt.so.1" in the "lib" directory of the game's directory. Here's the relative path to the file for me. After that, the launcher ran to start the game. ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc/lib/librt.so.1
Game ran great with mouse/keyboard and generic controllers. Used Steam Cloud to sync saves across multiple computers.
Cutscenes for me did not play video, but instead showed a color test screen. Cutscene audio played fine. Have heard GE solves this issue, but have not attempted yet, so can't complain.
Everything else worked for me. Played with a DualShock 4 controller and mouse/keybaord. Have been playing at a friend's house uding his TV via HDMI. The game has frozen a few times when alt+tabbing to switch controllers when battery dies, so have learned to save often.
As "Calajese" stated in their report, to get the game's launcher to run, I had to delete the library file called "librt.so.1" in the "lib" directory of the game's directory. Here's the relative path to the file for me. After that, the launcher ran to start the game.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc/lib/librt.so.1
As the user Calajese stated in their report, to get the launcher to run, I had to delete the library file "librt.so.1" in the "lib" folder of the game's directory. The launcher wouldn't start, but after deleting that file, the game launched and ran perfectly native. The relative path to the file for me is as follows.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc/lib/librt.so.1
I'd reccomend using a controller. A PS5 DualSense via Bluetooth worked for me.
Without Proton GE, the opening cutscenes had a color test screen instead of video, but audio worked fine. With GE, video showed, but was very laggy/choppy playback. Graphics were perfectly fine in-game. Had no problem with the game engine.
While in-game and cutscenes would often freeze. Audio still played. Sometimes, would have to restart game, so learned to save often. Other times in-game, units would freeze, but could still interact with the UI, though nothing would work, as if time froze. Was able to Esc to pause menu to reload my save to continue on.
I tried this during the playtest, so hoping it runs better in the future. 🤞

Game freezes when streaming to Discord in X11. Cutscenes are laggy/choppy. Tried full-screen and windowed mode.
Runs great, but game froze when alt+tabbing out and tried streaming to Discord in X11. Game is intended and works perfectly with any controller; I used an Xbox One controller. Also has great mouse/keyboard support.

Did not join any servers, but joined Steam friends running Windows fine.
Even though this has a native Linux build that runs perfectly vanilla, many mods that players would use did not work. Starting a game would crash. I painstakingly narrowed down which of my mods were causing it to crash until I could start a game, but then other mods would crash when triggered. Long story short, using forced Proton expiremental runs perfectly with all my mods. I have not seen any unexpected problems using Proton so far. I'm not one of those with thousands of mods, but I do have my fair share of random obscure mods with weird scripts.
Mod runs great with native build & controller like the base game
Runs great natively with any controller! Was sometimes laggy, as this mod uses the more advanced Strata engine and modern graphics. Nothing major; may be my hardware.

This is also a problem on Windows, even back on Vista, but it occasionally crashes during a game. If you're in a long game, save often.
Perfectly native with controller!
Was able to join friend's server with multiple players who were running Windows.
Perfect native Linux game! Played with Xbox One controller.

Can join private and public rooms with users running Windows, and load all assets perfectly with no issues.
Ran with my Nvidia GPU with launch options, as well as integrated Intel graphics without.
