The built-in browser doesn't work (News window)
The only problem with the game is that the built-in browser (Vuplex Webview) doesn't work. This can cause the game to get stuck when trying to open the news window (forced once a day) and some other web content. It's a minor issue, but it can become a game breaking bug later if it's used for something important.
Font rendering is terrible, even with fontsmoothing enabled. Other than, it runs perfectly fine.
The game freezes if you alt-tab in fullscreen mode
Some rare hiccups during songs
Completely freezes after playing for a long period of time
Same results as everyone else, no videos without GE and freezes after alt-tabbing in fullscreen mode. Also, I had some rare hiccups during gameplay and the game will eventually freeze after playing for a long period of time, probably due to the vram leak that was previously mentioned by another user.
It's also worth mentioning that the game crashes immediately after the xigncode window if it's installed on a ntfs partition, even if the prefix and the proton binaries are on a native linux partition.
The last update have some issues with the keyboard input. It works fine in the configuration screen, but during gameplay some keys don't work at all (right shift) or are detected incorrectly (right alt as ). This issue seems to affect some Windows users too, but in my case worked fine on Windows 11.
Aside from that, I'm having a lot of stuttering while playing a song, something that was very rare before.
It's hard to recommend in the current state.

Game stops respoding if you alt-tab in fullscreen mode
As always this game performance is a roller coaster.
By default the game struggles to hit 40 fps, but using gamemode it runs at solid 70+ fps uncapped. I didn't notice any other problem after a two hours play session aside from two little stutters.
Great news for DJMAX players! An MR that has been recently merged upstream completely fixed the performance issues. Up until now my fps were somewhere between 40 and 70 on a good day, but with this fix the game can maintain 180fps with no more random stutters.
If you want to test this right now, you will have to compile proton yourself or download proton-tkg's nightly builds (wine master). Alternatively, this build posted in Proton's issue tracker doubles my fps (380+), but it's a bit overkill and sometimes crashes my game during the warning message.
Needs more testing, but everything works flawlessly so far. Online play is a little wonky, but that has nothing to do with Proton.
Add "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=30 %command%" to the game launch options to fix it.
There is a little crackling sound that I didn't notice before, but it completely goes away with the solution provided.
Some graphic glitches unless PROTON_USE_WINED3D11 is enabled ("holes" in character models and black boxes around some skill effects) but this lower my average fps from 60 (capped) to 40~. Solo missions work perfectly fine, but selecting any multiplayer mode will always take me back to the single player hub.
Stable 60 fps most of the time, but it can drop to 40-50 fps when things get very busy.
Input issues fixed in May 1st patch. Everything works out of the box now.
Sound effects and voices are missing unless you set xaudio2_7 to native.
gamescope -H 1920 -- %command%
Unresponsive login screen. The game tends to get stuck on the first loading screen.
I've found a few problems that are pretty easy to fix.
Shaking/unresponsive login screen: Launch the game in window mode or with gamescope.
No videos: Use Proton GE.
Stuck loading: Relaunch the game.
Note that the game tends to crash when tabbing out while using gamescope, so it's better to remove it after logging in for the first time.
The ping indicator seems to report twice the real value, but other than that works perfectly fine out of the box.
The last report was 3 years ago, so I wanted to confirm that this game is currently in a platinum state with any modern version of Proton.
Everything works, including the video BGAs (make sure you have video backgrounds enabled in equipments), out of the box.
directshow and xvid
The game crashes if you use AMDVLK instead of RADV.
To get the voice mod to work, follow these steps:
- Install the voice mod like you normally would (dinput8.dll version)
- Run winecfg with "protontricks 251150 winecfg"
- In the "Libraries" tab, add a new override for "dinput8"
- Make sure the dinput8 override is set to "Native then Builtin" (setting it to native only breaks controller support)
Install amstream, quartz and xvid. Disable winegstreamer.
Small update.
The game stopped working after completely removing older Proton releases because Proton 5.0 doesn't come with the libraries needed to play the movies.
To fix this problem, first make sure gstreamer is intalled on your system, then run winecfg (protontricks 251150 winecfg) and set "winegstreamer" to "disabled".
The game itself runs flawlessly, but the in-game browser stop working after playing a battle and you have to install the core fonts with winetricks or else the text won't render properly. Also, once the game is minized it can't be restored unless you press alt+enter to exit fullscreen mode.
